Will TarzansKat meet Captain Jack? ~A Pirate's Life for 3 Pre-Trippie~ We're back!

DSCI0004-1.jpg

So Jackie and I were having a little discussion today about the new non-itinerary whilst drinking some piratey encased beverage and discussing the virtues of a good sunscreen.

Jackie likes our freedom, and is very excited about all the places we'll be going, and all the things we'll be doing, and the fact that we have no idea what order we'll do them in. "Welcome to the Caribbean, love."

I was thinking about the day after MNSSHP, which is Wednesday. We have an ADR at the Brown Derby, and originally I had thought to get to MGM in the am and try to get some shows in.

Then, I had an epiphany. A non-itinerary epiphany. What...just what if...after MNSSHP we decided to sleep in?

:::gasp:::

And see when we woke up?

:::gasp:::

As long as it's before the ADR with a reasonable amount of time to bus on over, isn't it fair to assume that we could have a totally leisurely morning just chilling in the room or by the pool or whatever.

I think it's possible. Of course, if we want to be park commandos, we will. Again, part of the whole new non-itinerary itinerary. Which really means that all these ideas just live inside my head all jumbled around and whatnot. I really, really need to make a trip binder. But it seems very, very un-pirate-fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants-like.

I am beginning to like this whole non-itinerary thing. As long as we know where we'll be eating so certain members of our party don't get cranky...ahem....notjustthethreeyearold...ahem...then I think our non-plan is good.

I am, however, beginning to be inspired by LL's lists.

Without getting into all of it, because it feels like an itinerary, there are some must-dos for me on this trip.

Heh, heh, must-do. NoWaynesWorld.

If we go by events, MNSSHP, Hallowishes, Boo to You Parade, Spectromagic
I'd like to see Illuminations but I haven't managed it yet in the past few years...if it doesn't happen, ah well.

If we go by food, in addition to my ADRs, Casey's Hot Dog, Dole Whip, Junky Apple, Make your own Treat

If we go by characters, JACK SPARROW, JACK SPARROW, JACK SPARROW, Tarzan, JACK SPARROW, JACK SPARROW, JACK SPARROW, Also, perhaps some princesses...I would like to meet them in Toontown, last year the line was way too long for DS, JACK SPARROW, JACK SPARROW, JACK SPARROW, and whoever DS deems worthy at that particular moment in time when we see them;)

I can't list all my favorite rides...too many...what will be will be...but please let me ride the new Toy Story Mania...a ride that we have never been on and will be our first new as a family ride...pretty cool huh?

And in the spirit of all that is laying on a beach drinking rum, at some point, I would like to lay on a beach drinking rum...or some other lovely concoction.

I know they have a beach at the Wilderness Lodge, so I see this as feasible. Perhaps if I'm lucky, I can send the boys off to swim and sneak away for a little mama alone time. Staring off at Bay Lake, sipping my happy little drinkie-poo, dreaming about my favorite pirate...

I do have a small confession however.

Recently, there was a thread on the theme parks boards entitled post your Jack Sparrow. You catch my drift? So I took a persual and I didn't realize there were quite so many. Which is when I realized that I want to meet a particular one. The one who looked directly at and bowed to my husband during the Boo to You parade the first year we dressed as pirates and he was Jack Sparrow. It's funny to watch Jack Sparrow acknowledge Jack Sparrow. But my point is, this guy, is the best one. I've seen lots, and he really, really is always in character. I think I've set my sights really high. Not only do I want to meet Jack Sparrow, I am so spoiled, I want a specific one!!!:lmao:

But you know what? Even if I don't meet him, and I realize this is the whole basis for my pre-trip report, so hang with me here, it'll be okay. Know why? Because I have the very best Jack Sparrow I've ever seen as part of my everyday life, and that is my DH. He is the best looking Jack Sparrow I've ever seen. I am a bit partial. Tink, when we meet, I'll show you pictures. So even if I don't get my all-coveted, highly-prized meet and grope..ahem...I mean greet!!!...sheesh...it'll be okay. Because I'll have my own personal Jack Sparrow at my disposal. Which DH totally obliges. Because as you all remember, there is a "debt to be repaid.";)

I have told my self that it is ok if I don't meet Jack Sparrow....

Then I thought, who am I kidding? I nicknamed my car after him. I will wait in line to get his picture :lovestruc

Then, I had an epiphany. A non-itinerary epiphany.

A non-itinerary itinerary epiphany.

If we go by characters, JACK SPARROW, JACK SPARROW, JACK SPARROW, Tarzan, JACK SPARROW, JACK SPARROW, JACK SPARROW... JACK SPARROW, JACK SPARROW, JACK SPARROW

Jack Sparrow?

Tarzan and his 78-pack did not go unchecked either, I see. ;)

Tink, when we meet, I'll show you pictures.

Can't wait!!!

I mean really, you're very own, at-home meet-and-grope, AHEM, meet-and-GREET, is the very best kind.

I'm with you, sister! And about the car, awww...I nicknamed my car my little Snow Bunny. Because one of the first snowstorms I had with that car, I fully appreciated how cute she was all covered in snow...and then realized I had to clean it all off...ah, New England in the winter.

I mean really, you're very own, at-home meet-and-grope, AHEM, meet-and-GREET, is the very best kind.

Well, I have since talked to the folks and the tune has changed slightly. My parents are both very anti-daycare. Let's not start a debate, suffice it to say it's what they believe, similar to it's what DH and I had chosen for ourselves previously.

Well, Dad offered to take Fridays, and Mom has compromised. She's willing to do Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday, if we'd be willing to drop-off/pick-up Monday and Tuesday, and Thursday, we'd drop-off, and in the afternoon she'd bring him here. So it is a bit of compromise.

The problem is, I don't know how to make this decision. One day a week daycare in my hometown is literally a few minutes from my door. It would make my Thursdays sooooo easy. And he'd still be getting a preschool curriculum, and he wouldn't have to be potty trained. What Mom is thinking, if he stays with her, is that he'll be going to pre-school on Tuesday and Thursday, but that all hinges on him being potty trained.

So, let's lay it out.

Monday & Tuesday with Mom, we drop-off and pick up
Thursday - one day a week daycare
Friday - Dad watches at our place
See, with this schedule, it looks like my life gets a lot less hectic, since I bullied DH into doing the am drop-offs Mon & Tues, with the promise I would do the pick-ups. It would make my Wed-Sun sooo much easier. On Wed, I'd be off, Thursday and Friday, I'd be working five minutes from home and DS would be at close daycare or at home, and Sat he'd be at home with DH. As far as DH picking up some of the driving, my reasoning was that I've done all of it for the past two years, he could pick up some for the next two.;) Then, if we have any kind of inclement weather, like snow or rain, which mom doesn't drive in, I don't have to worry about getting DS to and from her house on Thurs if she decides she doesn't want to drive. I think her ambition is good, but I question whether or not it'll really happen. Not a criticism, a fact.

All of this hinges on whether or not I get offered this position. Since pre-school doesn't actually start until the fall, does anybody think it would be a good idea to try the daycare one day a week and see how DS adjusts to it? Ach, I don't know. I'm all confuzzled. I need to talk to DH when he gets home. This job opportunity was supposed to simplify, not complicate.

Okay....deep breathe in......deep breathe out......

Everything is going to be just fine. It looks like a good sign that your mom is willing to compromise a bit. Yay for TK!

I don't feel like lists are an itinerary, they are a guideline if you will.

But you know what? Even if I don't meet him, and I realize this is the whole basis for my pre-trip report, so hang with me here, it'll be okay. Know why? Spoiled TK with her very own Jack Sparrow. pirate:

Wow! You have some big decisions to make! My MIL watched both my children when they were younger so that we wouldn't have to do daycare. However, when they were three, four, and five they went to a morning preschool (3-days, then 5-days). More and more children need that preschool curriculum before starting kindergarten. Anyway, I KNOW you will make the decision that is right for your family!

I am so loopy right now (not from Lapu Lapus, sadly, but just from end-of-year crazies) that when I first started reading your post about your conversation with Jack Sparrow I kept thinking, "When did we have this conversation? I don't remember this conversation!" (my name is Jackie so it was a somewhat honest mistake). :lmao:

Yeah, it's been a weird couple of days. I find it so difficult to make this decision, because it's really something that will make me happy and I think as mothers we sometimes forget about that. Happy mommy = happy kids. But, I also worry about doing the right thing for DS, and striking that balance can be so hard sometimes.

:lmao:

You're so silly! And so am I, because I totally forgot that your real name is Jackie. To me, you're CP.

Ah well, at least now you know. If there's a cute little trippie mascot at the beginning of the post, I'm referring to him. :thumbsup2

However, if you would like to have a conversation with me about the virtues of sunscreen and lying on a beach drinking rum I'd be more than happy to. Something to consider for POFQ perhaps? ;)

Unfortunately, when this happens to me, it's usually because I truly forgot the conversation. My own culprit is sleep deprivation.

And, bless you, my dear, if you are still with me after you read it all. And haven't unsubscribed...because sometimes I wonder...will people still really read this when it sinks in how crazy I actually am?;)

Nearly done getting through *all* the posts; sorry this part is a bit late. But TK, I made it through all the Pukefest '08 posts in one go, and I plowed on. I'm in for the long haul. :thumbsup2

Edit: Aaannnd we're all caught up! Maybe I should get a t-shirt for that! LOL

But of course!

Hi TK! My day was alright. I am absolutely exhausted, so exhausted that I almost fell asleep at my desk. :rotfl2:
I did get my new grape Mary Jane Crocs, which are too cute for words!

I love grape. When I was little, I loved grape soda, grape lollipops, you name it, I loved grape. I hated taking medecine, the only thing that was acceptable to me? Grape Dimetapp.:lmao:

When you say, grape, I am somehow reduced to an eight year old. :rotfl2:

I still find Grape Dimetapp delish. Yum! That just seems wrong to be saying about a medicine.

Have you booked your flights yet?

No, I'm still stubbornly holding out. Every year we've gone in September, Southwest comes out with a really good fare in July. It's not a DING fare, I didn't realize about DING, so I don't know if there's something better than the July fare, but last year for the three of us, it was about 478.50. I know about increasing gas costs, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for something in that range, but a little higher is okay.:thumbsup2

I found a decent rate through expedia on AirTran. $392.00 for both of us, roundtrip, non stop from Boston to Orlando. I didn't think that it was too bad. I don't think I will have the extra money before the wedding though and this deal is good through June 5th. Oh well. I am not a huge expert on flight prices so I don't know what a great deal is.

I am confident that you will find that balance!

I'll happily talk about lying around on a beach drinking rum -- I will also happily lie around said beach drinking rum! :thumbsup2

Sometimes that is my culprit too!
