Will TarzansKat meet Captain Jack? ~A Pirate's Life for 3 Pre-Trippie~ We're back!

Except for one cast member. Bless him. He took a fancy to my costume last year and told me where you can find the two movie prop necklaces on your way out of the Pirates ride. He actually told me how much he liked my Elizabeth costume. Bless you for flirting with me in front of my husband since you've got to be at least 5-10 years younger than I am.:lmao: Hey, it's only fair! Do you know how many ladies are eyeing my DH all night? I deserve some props! ;) Actually, now that I think about it, I was also recognized by the cast member who rang me out at the Pop when we got back that night (remember the sugar cookie). "Did you have fun trick or treating, Elizabeth?"

Ah, memories.:cloud9:

And yet again I've managed to avoid writing the day we leave. :thumbsup2

Ahhh what wonderfuls stories! It really makes me want to dress up now! princess:

That's right, we'll all gang up on Lady Lallie and her DF and force them to wear adorable matching costumes!

:::insert Vincent Price laugh:::

and then post numerous pics on the boards as part of her trip report

:::insert laugh again:::

But seriously, it's fun. ;)

:lmao: :rotfl2: I didn't know that anyone except me even remembered Vincent Price!!!

I think you totally should. After all the wedding hoop-la, you're going to need to feel like a five year old! :thumbsup2

I second TK -- dress up and enjoy every minute of it!

You gals are way too funny. I am going to think of something! The longer it takes me to think the more it distracts me from the wedding. Yay! I am open to suggestions. DF actually said he would dress up as Bert the Chimney Sweep, I was shocked and amazed!

:lmao: :rotfl2: I didn't know that anyone except me even remembered Vincent Price!!!

Alright, I know you're maybe a couple of years older than I am, but sheesh...Michael Jackson...the Thriller album...white suit, big smile, back when he wasn't so scary...ah, the Vincent Price laugh...

then as I got older, I loved Vincent Price again, as the narrator in an animated short by Tim Burton. So very good. And as the creator in Edward Scissorhands. Now, I know he's done lots and lots of over things, these are just my favorite memories. :goodvibes

And yes, I do have a dark side. :scared1:

I would love to see you as Mary Poppins! :thumbsup2

Oh, that would be so awesome!

:lmao: Me too! If there had been such a thing as gothic when I was growing up, I think I might have traveled that road. I am all about "creepy" things.

I would love to see you as Mary Poppins! :thumbsup2

Me too! :goodvibes

My mom actually made a costume for a little girl as Mary Poppins in her white fancy dress. It was so adorable!

So...what you are saying is that she could make you a costume, too! ;)

She just finished making my wedding dress....so I am not hopeful. I am thinking after the wedding, I might approach her to "help" me make a costume. If DF went as chimney sweep, I think I would have to be "regular" Mary, like with the hat. I would be happy with that. I just don't know if people would recognize me. I wonder if DF would do a jig to "steppin' time" ?? :lmao:

Oh, I think people would definitely recognize you!!! Especially if you had the hat!!! You can't mistake the hat!

I think I am going to watch Mary Poppins tomorrow to do some research. :happytv:

An outstanding idea!!! I may have to join you in watching it...

I bought my mom Julie Andrews' autobiography that just came out for her birthday this year -- she is a huge Julie Andrews fan so I grew up watching Mary Poppins a lot!

Thanks for reminding me! I keep forgetting to put that on my book request list at the library. Watching Mary Poppins is a warm & fuzzy childhood memory for me.

Otherwise known as the leaving day. :scared1:

But don't cry for me, Argentina, oh no! :thumbsup2 Because if we're on the last day, that means we actually had all seven days before it. Which means I got to finally take my first ever just the three of us family vacation, a pirate's life for three. And maybe, just maybe, if Tink and I were successful, I got to meet Captain Jack.

And so, on this day, although I will surely ask DH several times if he's ready to move to Florida yet (I always am :rolleyes1 ) we will get ready to go home. I believe our departing flight will be somewhere between 1230 and 100, since Southwest thinks it's just dandy to have those kind of direct flights on the day I leave but not when we arrive! Go figure. ;)

It's time for you to know a little bit more about me on the leaving day. As I breathe my last bit of Disney air for a while, and resign myself to the fact that the next trip will be with family for the as yet unnamed birthday.

Is it a mad dash to get ready and throw all our things together? Do we scurry and scramble about...oh no.

Welcome to the world of TK and the one way in which she may, just may, be turning into her mother. Welcome to what shall hereon out be known as...slight, just slight OCD. Now, I am a flexible gal, trust me. At least I try to be. But on vacation, especially in a value resort room (read = small) I like a sense of order and structure.

DH would try to make fun of me, but he does too. We have our little routines on vacation, and now, you're going to get to hear all about them. Every night, we leave our same items in the same spots, whether it be the nightstand, or the little table. We hide whatever candy/junk leftover from the day that we don't want DS to see on the tippity top of the tv armoire. Last year, I decided to be a gentleman :rotfl: and went to get ice every night. We would then ice whatever drink or food we had for DS for the morning so it would be nice and cold/not spoiled when he woke up.

DS still uses straw cups, so I quietly rinse/wash those out with my little travel size container of Dawn, smelling like Green Apples, thank you very much, because if I have to handwash, I'm going to like the smell. ;) If it's too late, we just rinse and let them sit for me to do in the morning. We bring four cups on the trip, two per day. One is for juice, one is for milk. One set stays in the room to be clean and dried, the other travels with us and so we switch until we go home.

This year, I think the only difference with this will be we plan to pack some kind of collapsable cooler bag so that we can ice several drinks/snacks for morning. I'm not really interested in the work entailed in a fridge swap, so I'd rather just do it this way. I believe my DGM actually has one we can borrow.

Are you enjoying yourself yet? This little glimpse into what I'm like behind closed doors? ...ahem...;)

So during the week, whilst keeping all this sense an order in the room, and winging it and going with the flow out of the room, once we arrive "home" after a long day's play, do we throw our clothes on the floor all willy nilly? Oh, no, no, no. I fold or roll them.

In neat piles.

Preferably in that little closet type area near the sink. That way, they're out of mousekeeping's way, and they're all organized for when I need to pack to go home. So on the last night, with a place for everything and everything in its place, I set about the task of packing as much as possible. We save the last minute things for the morning, but I prefer to have most of it done before my head touches that pillow.

And that, my friends, is my little leaving day ritual. It is the signal of the end of the trip. When I pack our clothes I reflect on all that we've done, and the fun we've had. I think about what I'd like to do next year, and in some ways, I actually look forward to going home and sleeping in my own bed and getting into my fall routine.

Since our trips always fall in September I have apple picking, Halloween, pumpkin picking, and all sorts of fun New England-y fall things to look forward to. Last year my DM, DGM, and I took DS to see Santa at Santa's Land on Columbus Day weekend, and we had a blast.

This vacation is my last summer hurrah! It's my kick off to fall, which preceeds my least favorite season of all. I hate winter. But, that's a tale for another time.

Right now, we're here. On my leaving day. Packing my neatly rolled clothes into suitcases and reflecting on all the good memories we've made...new tastes we've hade...new friends we've finally met....

Aye, that'll about do it.

Well said!
I think we all have those kinds of routines/rituals in hotels. I am far more organized in a hotel then I am at home. I think it's the smaller spaces!
I hate winter as well and have been trying to convince DF that Florida is the place to be. :rolleyes1

Perhaps we need to combine our efforts. I'm sure if we think about it we can certainly come up with reasons to move to a warmer, beautiful climate! :rotfl2:

Agreed. I mean, I only want to save DF's back from all that horrible snow shoveling.
