I know the current price is $188 and the incentives are only offered for a short time, but is the $188 an opening price that can increase? We are considering adding on but would prefer to do so late summer. I was honestly very surprised With the $188 price point.

I think DVC guides normally have some notice about price increases. So maybe stay in contact with a good guide. This DVC community board also normally knows about increases before they happen. Truthfully I'm going to buy some direct points (50 to 60) in roughly the same time frame to complete my 75 points direct.

I was more wondering if it’s normal practice to release at a lower price to “incentivize” people to purchase. If there is a very high likelihood of an increase we may try to make some arrangements.

All I've seen on these forums are rumors of a June price increase. It isn't clear if RIV will also increase from $188 pp. Its possible they will just change the incentives to purchase without raising RIV pricing. We will all just have to wait and see what is rumored around the end of May. Other older DVC resorts have had direct pricing changes relatively quickly after release but others haven't. This might depend on the quantity of sales for RIV.

From what others have said, there is an anticipated (unconfirmed) price per point increase on 5/1. However, many guides have told their members that DVC will announce the price increase before it goes into effect to give you some time to purchase. The reduced incentives which begin on 5/1 are already on the website, but the ppp as of 5/1 is not there just yet. I would expect an announcement in the next week or two if they are indeed going to increase the ppp.

Somebody on these boards heard from their guide that RIV had the best opening sales ever for the first week. If this is true maybe they will increase the price quickly.

Awesome information everyone. Thanks. Sounds like we need to make a plan in case of an increase announcement.

It’s really varied and there’s little that DVC always has done. It might simply reduce the incentives. It also has happened that if sales aren’t what they want then discounts increase even if the base price has increased. It’s all just a guess other than it will go up in real dollars some time. And discounts could bring it down again.

Do you get any incentives if you only buy 50 points? On the website they only list them for 125 and above.

Unfortunately their discount chart stops at 125. So for us small add on people there is $0 discount. I'm not sure discounts even go down that far based on the fact Aulani doesn't go down to 50 points.
