Will people cancel/downgrade their ressies if no codes?

DreamsofDisney, I understood perfectly what you were trying to ask and did not take offense to your question.

We always book what we can afford and then upgrade if a code comes out. Sometimes we don't upgrade and just apply it to our current reservation. I never book what we can't afford because if codes don't come out, then we might not be able to get what we can afford later because they could all be sold out. I do believe that there are some who book resorts that they can't afford hoping for a discount. However, I don't know if they would admit it on a discussion thread like this since they might get flamed. There's really no way to know for sure why someone would cancel as it could be for any reason and really have nothing to do with codes.

That being said, I would keep trying to get the room view that you really
want because rooms become available all the time. There have been many times when I couldn't get any rooms at a particular resort, and I've called back at a later date only to be able to get all or part of my dates.

Hope you are able to get your view that you really want.

Its always possible that rooms not available now will open up for numerous reasons. Not sure the lack of AP discounts will have a large effect. More likely gas prices and hurricanes will.

I don't think as many people book and change of the don't get a discount, anymore due to the fact they understand now how that hurts their chances of getting a discount.

After talking to friends today who work at Disney, I sad to say I don't think June will have any or July.

I, too, book what I want and what I am willing to pay. I use our AAA discount and hope for an AP rate. If there isn't one, at least we have the 15% off rack rate. We went for many years paying rack :sad2: before I found the DIS, so 15% beats what we've paid in the past...

We bought into the DVC last year and glad we did.

Yes, and I think this is Disney's master plan in the long run. They are trying to promote the DVC especially to the repeat visitors. Last year when we were staying at WL we were offered a $100 GC to visit SSR. That is when we purchased. :thumbsup2

Correct me if I am wrong, but I am also wondering if one of the reasons why they want to know how many times you have visited the WDW resort is so they can see if you would be a good candidate to extend the $100 gift certificate and visit to check out SSR.

With Disney's not releasing codes for the rest of June, I have come to the realization that my entire vacation this year would have been spent at the Swan with the Teacher's discount had I not purchased DVC last year.

If my family were willing to try the Swan, we'd be all over that too with the teacher discount. They won't stay anywhere but AKL. Since it our last trip for probably 3 years at least, we'll stay at AKL.

We were originally going during free dining, but had to revamp our plans. We are now going June 6th-June 13th. I honestly didn't think there would be any rooms available at such the last minute. I ended up getting All Star Music. Which is fine because we've stayed there before and enjoyed it some years ago. The kids like the big theming, etc. Now, we really enjoy the moderates. So, if a code comes out, we would definately upgrade. If not, that's fine too. We are just happy to be back at Disney again.!!

No we booked what we could afford. The discount would have just been an added bonus. :)

I booked AKL and CR with the hope of a discount. I was really expecting one, and am disappointed that none have come out for late June/early July.

We're definitely not going to cancel, but I've been playing with the idea of downgrading. However, the rest of my traveling crew don't want to downgrade, so I'll most likely keep the ressies the way they are.

For our Feb 2004 trip, we changed ressies because of a code. We were originally booked at the Swan with some type of promo, can't remember what it was, but it was good enough for me to choose that over other "on-site" properties.

About 3 months before we were to go I got a coveted postcard with a pin code! We switched to POR immediately. I know that I technically down-graded from Swan to POR, but the money savings was just to much to pass up. We LOVED POR, and the money savings covered almost 1/2 of our dining budget for a 9 day trip for 4.

For our Thanksgiving trip we are staying at the Poly. Code or no code, that is where we are staying.

OT: just curious, is there a reason your font is huge :)

Yes, when I started using my laptop, I was having trouble reading the really long posts on my cruise meet thread. The brightness, the contrast, my failing eyes, well, my friends on our thread were kind enough to all start posting in a 4 font, so it can be easier for me to see. If it's a problem, I can go down to a 3. I'm going to be getting glasses soon, and then my problem will be hopefully solved.

No, I don't mean to yell at all! How's this size? Testing testing testing how now brown cow testing This is a 3, and I can see it fine. Yeah, the 4 was a lot on the bold side.

The size 3 seems better but use what you need to use to be able to read.

you can set your computer to display a bigger font so you can read everything. :thumbsup2

Wouldn't that make more sense? After all, wouldn't you need to be able to read other people's messages more so than being able to read your own? :confused3

My computer is set on Extra Large Fonts, which I did from Appearance And Themes. But it doesn't affect the size of the web site fonts, only the fonts on my desktop.
I'll try to get some help with this. I don't want this to turn into a big thing, which is what often happens.
Bicker, I'll use this size font, so you won't have to be confused anymore.

We downgraded from Port Orleans to ASMovies. Was a bit disappointed, as we've never stayed at Port Orleans. Thing is, room was paid for, but I admit, I was counting on getting afew bucks back with the AP discount. Since it doesn't appear to be coming, we downgraded, and took the $500 back.

The font setting for your operating system indeed doesn't affect what you see on the screen. To do what you're trying to do, just pull down the View menu, select Text Size and switch to "Largest".
