Will people cancel/downgrade their ressies if no codes?

I only posted this topic for a little feedback, not to get everyone irritated with me. As I said before, we will not be cancelling our rooms and I did book what we could afford.

I wouldn't worry about others having problems with ANYTHING that you do. There is no rule book or right and wrong answer when it comes to booking your Disney vacation.

You do what you feel is in your best interest - Don't worry about what others think. :thumbsup2

I'm keeping my BC reservation even if the codes are not offered this year. The only other time I did not get a AP Code was our GF trip...before I found the Dis. I made a personal bet this year..I lost my bet. If I got down to 121lbs I was going to stay at the GF. There is always next year.
I did get an AAA discount.

We are a family of five , so we really only have one option being on a budget and that's POR. No code = No trip. My wife is a teacher, so we can only go June through early Aug.

What about the suites at All Star Music?

Ok...I have been watching for a while and getting really sad at some of the replys so here it goes. I am a revenue Manager/ Director of Sales for Marriott. And I just want to say it is ok to book more than one room even if you cannot afford it. You can wait for the codes and cancel if they do not come out. It is ok. The hotels do understand this is occuring and we adjust our revenue accordingly. That is why we have cancellation policys. You and your family are a business just like we are. Some businesses take more risk than others. That is fine. I will stay on property if there is a code. If not I will stay at Marriott and be just as happy on the employee rate. I love disney...I love Marriott. All is good in the world. :yay: :yay:

I think people will drop down a category. Heck, on the June/July/Aug Code watch people are talking about doing it now or staying off site. I am glad that we live well within our means so the extra money isn't a big deal.

The font setting for your operating system indeed doesn't affect what you see on the screen. To do what you're trying to do, just pull down the View menu, select Text Size and switch to "Largest".

FYI-I AM VISUALLY IMPAIRED AND HAVE DONE WHAT YOU SUGGESTED, BUT THIS DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK WITH EVERY SITE. I AM ON THE LARGEST TEXT SIZE NOW AND IT IS THE SAME AS THE SMALLEST TEXT FOR THIS SITE. princess:

ANY OTHER SUGGESTINGS?

Hmmm... switch to Mozilla Firefox. I'm able to adjust practically every website's text using that browser.

Another idea is to look into Microsoft's accessibility features. I believe there is a feature built into Microsoft Windows that gives you the ability to use your mouse cursor as a magnifying glass.

Beyond those things, all you can do is plead your case to the system administrators here, to make everyone's default setting to a larger font size. I'd personally be in favor of that.

I wasn't addressing you specifically. Over on the other thread there seems to be a lot of people who booked a room that they can't afford. I have read many threads where individuals are worried about an extra $300-$500. I feel sometimes that I am in the minority living with no credit card or auto debt. In fact, our house will be paid for in less than five years and I am only 30.

No you are not alone. The budget boards has many people who have no debt (including mortgage). You are doing great, and to own you home by 35 if fabulous.

No need to yell. A room is not just a room in Disney. You are paying for your Resort location, room size, pool, restaurants etc. If your just looking for a place to flop every night stay off site & save big bucks. You can get rooms for $30.00 a night.

Okay, so here's my two cents:

It's great to say that you're living within your means, but the tone of that post implied that everyone else on this board who is interested in saving some money is not.

The fact is, the cost of living is quite different across the country. While it might be worth it to me to stay in a deluxe resort (after years of staying value) and while we can afford to do so, it still is helpful to get a discount if it becomes available. That's more money for souvenirs, extra shows or tours that we want to take. Sure we could still make the choice to take those tours without having a discount...or decide that it's not "within our means." But why judge someone for looking for codes or discounts that would enable them to experience the best that WDW has to offer?

Yes, I'm sure there are some people who go over budget and are living above and beyond their means for their WDW vacation. But that's their choice, too! You don't know what their situation is. Maybe it's their one and only time to have a big Disney trip as a family, and they want to make it as magical as possible. Maybe they have a few kids and are flying down, so they need to stay onsite in a moderate or deluxe resort because of the size of their party. Discounts never hurt when you're trying to "do Disney" with a family of five or more!

Or maybe, like me, you're traveling for what will be the last trip in at least 4 or 5 years with your child with Autism. And the most magical moments for him were the days spent at Animal Kingdom Lodge. And you want to do whatever you can to make the stay as special and as a magical as possible. And after dealing with meetings on placement and summer programs and medical concerns and countless doctors and therapists, you had to delay your WDW trip planning until only 3 months before you leave, so all of the standard and water view rooms were booked. So you book the more expensive views, but keep your fingers crossed for codes that will make this trip a little less of a pinch on your wallet.

My point is...It's wonderful that you've almost paid off your house by 30 and have no financial debt. But you never know what other people have been through (or are going through) financially or in their lives. It's sort of presumptuous and condescending to say people should learn to live within their means. Walk a mile in my shoes....

Lastly (finally!) You mentioned that OP were worried about $300-$500. For me it was a potential savings closer to $800, which is the equivalent of 4 months of medications for my son.

I am not sure at times whether its better to share info or not. Seems at time many do not want to hear certain news and want to kill the messenger. :confused3

I spoke with a friend today in Reservations. Now certainly at Disney anything can change, but he said bookings are really up for June and he seriously doubts any AP discounts will be offered.

He said July and August are a wait and see and many factors could affect that including the fires, gas prices and hurricanes. That if cancellations start coming in for July and August then they might see some discounts.

Another thing affecting June is bookings are way up and Disney is in a severe crunch for staff. Many are working 6 and 7 days without time off. So if bookings are up, and even if they are not sold out, they don't want to discount what few remaining rooms they have and cause anymore work load on an already stretched staff. If staffing is short they would rather have 80% occupancy at rack rate than 100% at discount.

I know they opened the college program for summer in custodial and food service and they have not done that in years.

Just wanted to share some info that might help some of you planning for June, I would love to wrong, but I don't see them coming.

Thanks for the info :)

They work the CMs at WDW too much :( Their hours are insane.
I have a friend who works in MK and he's dead on his feet already and the masses haven't even started coming yet. It's not the CMs in the parks, resorts, etc that are getting rich off of us either...and 99.9% work their tails off.

Sorry to the OP this is OT ,
I tried to PM 39CINDERELLA] but her mailbox is full.
I am going to use a large font so she read these instructions.
Please excuse me.
Thanks!

Most computers that were made in the last 5 years or so have an Accessibly option on them.

Go to my Computer.
Then select Change a setting.
The next screen should be pick a category.
Things like Appearance and Themes, Printers, Add and Remove Programs and Accessible should be listed.
The Accessibly one usually has the handicap symbol next to it.

That is the one you want. Click on it.
It helps people out who have vision, hearing or mobility problems.
Choose the vision settings.
It should give you choices such as size of font, color of font etc.
Once it is all set you will see the larger print and color but others on the DIS board will not see it.
It makes all the threads on the DIS boards much easier for you to read and to post.

Good luck!
If you need more help feel free to PM me.

Wow it amazes me how these threads turn. Here is our situation. We are a new family of 5 who are DVC owners. We haven't bought AP's in 2 years due to a new baby arriving and not taking the multiple trips per year that we had been. We decided to purchase AP's this year. After doing so we thought we would conserve points and stay at the AKL concierge our arrival weekend, then 5 night s at the BWV's, and end at the Poly. After learning we are expecting again at the end of the year I canceled our AKL concierge ressies and added 3 more nights at the BWV's in a 2 bedroom. However, we kept our Poly ressies.

I canceled for several reasons one being I couldn't justify $500 per night witha new one on the way, two with me expectin I anticipate spending more time in our room in central Florida's July heat and three I had extra points to burn. Had an AP discount came out I still probably would have canceled because of reason number two.

No. Rather it is a different browser, a competitor to Microsoft Internet Explorer.

I was thinking that since the free dining was announced for later this summer, wouldn't that encourage people to cancel their early summer ressies to cash in on the free dining, thus lowering room occupancy for June/July, and prompting codes to fill rooms?
Obviously, some people can only go at certain times, and have to miss out on the free dining (like me :guilty: ).
Any thoughts?
