Will my park hopper tickets expire?

Okay, we are doing the free dining plan from 8/30-9/5. At first, we just purchased the base tickets. Yesterday, I upgraded them to park hoppers. It looks like we won't be able to go to the parks for 2 days. Will the park hoppers expire or is that another upgrade I need to do for no expiration so we don't lose those 2 days? Thanks!

That's another upgrade you would need to do. The tickets all now expire unless you purchase "no expiration."

I believe it is another upgrade that you have to purchase for your tickets to make them with no expiration date.

The new MYW tickets expire 14 days after the first use, so if you use it on 8/30, the tickets expire on 9/13.

The non-expiry option differs from each ticket. Right now the prices are:

2-day tickets: +$10
3-day tickets: +$10
4-day tickets: +$15
5-day tickets: +$35
6-day tickets: +$45
7-day tickets: +$55

Can you updrade the tickets while you are there and have activated them? Meaning if I get there Sept 1 and have a 5 day park hopper but want to upgrade them to a non expire ticket, can I upgrade them on Sept 1,2,3,4 before I leave ?

You can upgrade tickets but ONLY at a guest relations center (such as in Ocala, on WDW property, and in 2 places in DTD -- NOT at a Disney store). You should upgrade it though on your first day on property. Once a ticket has been used up (even before the 14 day window), it is gone.

Non-expiry option means the tickets never expire at all. I think TimothyG was saying (and please correct me if I'm wrong), that you need to make the non-expiry feature purchase well before you use up your days, since you'd have nothing to upgrade if your days are used up before trying to upgrade them.

Okay...now I got ya. That leads me to another question though. We will have 7 day hoppers....we will be using 5 of those 7 days, therefore leaving 2 days on the hopper....would we be paying the charge for 7 day ticket non-expiry option (since that's the original # of days we had on the PH) or the 2 day ticket non-expiry charge (since that is what we will have left at the end of the vacation).

I'm not sure. What I'm really not sure of is, though, why you'd want to do it this way? Why not just downgrade your tickets to 5-day tickets instead of 7-day? Then you wouldn't have to worry about all this non-expiration stuff.

You know, I really haven't thought about that.

Originally we were to arrive on 8/31 and leave 9/5. We would have been putting in a half day on 8/31 at the park and half day on 9/5 and then drive home mid-day on the 5th. Then southwest came out with some great airfare so we're flying down late on 8/30 (we'll arrive in Orlando at 10:10 p.m....too late for the parks). We'll be flying back home on 9/5 at 8:30 a.m. (therefore no time to do the parks on the 5th).

So anyway, when I called to add the extra night at Pop for 8/30, they automatically added the extra day on the hopper. It was only $85 total to add the hotel, meals and tickets for 8/30. So I just went ahead and did it.

You will be charged based on the original 7 days.

When adding non-expiration, at least think about adding more days as well, ending up with 7 or 10.

After figuring in the cost of non-expiration,
The 6'th non-expiring day costs $14.
The 7'th non-expiring day costs $14.
The 8'th non-expiring day costs $51. (!)
The 9'th non-expiring day costs $4.
The 10'th non-expiring day costs $4.

Go with the max 10 day and add the non-expiring. That way you will have another 5 days already paid for and at a much reduced cost. Since it does not cost that much more for each additional day. Go on the website and put in the different days it will show you the cost to add or subtract days and the cost when you add non expiring.
