Will Jambo House be able to use pool at Kidani?

From the public DVC information website and the member website:
Will Disney Vacation Club Members staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas be able to enjoy the amenities at both locations?

Yes, Members and their Guests staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas will be able to enjoy the amenities of both Jambo House and Kidani Village, regardless of in which building they are staying.

Yes, according to the public DVC website:

Will Disney Vacation Club Members staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas be able to enjoy the amenities at both locations?

Yes, Members and their Guests staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas will be able to enjoy the amenities of both the existing Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and the proposed Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas at Kidani Village, regardless of which building they are staying in.

Yes but walk from Jambo to Kidani Pool will be about 2/3 to over 3/4 of a mile depending on where your Jambo room is.

the walk will be long....

expecting Disney to have something between the resorts - but that just might be me wishing.

so be prepared to drive over kids.

I do like eating at Mara, and I imagine somedays, I'll walk over from Kidani, have lunch and stay by that pool. The walk would do me good, I find that most of the stays that I'm solo, I book AKV for at least some of the time, for animal viewing and relaxing.

Ok good. I hope they do have some sort of shuttle for DVC members, or at the very least have parking available.

If not we will walk, we plan on two full pool days during our summer trip, one at each pool.

As I noted above the distance will probably be 2/3 of a mile or more depending on room location in Jambo, meaning the walk for about 60% of the distance around the World showcase. There is no plan for a shuttle. They also cannot just put something directly from one building to the other across the savanna which would cut that walk by 60%. Might be able to use park bus from one to the other and back as long as busses vary which building they stop at first. Driving won't make sense, there will be some parking at Kidani but likely mostly taken by residents there. And to walk to your parked car at Jambo and then drive over, find a parking place ... well you can just do the walk quicker. I look at as the walk is not worth the bother to go to a pool but have no problem with it for a dinner reservation. However, it won't really be herculean if you want to do it for the pool (you do 10 times as much walking in a day in a park).

One thing that may effect walking if staying at Kidani and you want to go to Jambo will be the location of your room. If you are in the southern wing of Kidani near the end, you will be fairly close to the front of Jambo, so if they have exit doors you can use there, walk from room to Jambo and back will not be significant. However, if you are in the end of the northern wing of Kidani, the walk to Jambo will be over a mile (I have seen that wing and the walk from the end of it just to the Kidani lobby is going to be greater than 1/4 mile)

I marked up this drawing of the two building to illustrate the distance you have to walk from Kidani to Jambo House. The area between the ends of the two buildings is shown as grass and trees on the drawing but is in fact a service area with trucks coming and going. Depending on which way you walk, you may have to cross another road along the way so you will want to take care when going between Kidani and Jambo House.

Resort buses will be able to transport guests between both buildings. At Kidani Village, guests will be able to board any theme park bus, as the next destination will be Jambo House. At Jambo House, guests will be able to board any Downtown Disney bus, as its next destination will be Kidani Village.

Alternatively, there will be a sidewalk that connect the two buildings for people interested in walking. However, please note that from porte cochere to porte cochere the distance is half a mile so this is not a leisurely stroll between buildings.

I always wondered why they didn't make a running/walking path behind the pool that is being built at Kidani, that was one the things my wife really wished they had.

Interesting that the theme park busses will stop at Kidani first. So Kidani guests will have the first choice of seats on the bus and be the first ones off on the return.

Ugh... This is one big reason why we drive to WDW. Multiple stops within a resort is just so annoying!

America.... half of a mile requires a shuttle? And is not an easy walk?

(Before you blast me SOME folks may need a shuttle. However statistically most of us should easily be able to walk that distance!)

Agreed! It's 10 minutes...tops.

Why?

Somebody has to be first? Not to be a jerk, but is it that big of a deal?

Maybe they are figuring the logistics with the drivers makes it easier that way?:confused3

The half mile is the distance between the main entrances of both buildings. The pool at each building is past the main entrance so that adds a little more to the walk. And if you are in the north wing of Kidani or at the end of the horseshoe in Jambo, it could add up to another 1/4 mile. So for some guests, the walk will be closer to a mile from their room in one building to the pool in the other building. I love to walk but I could see guests with small children might find it a long trek.

Its funny when you read comments about a 15 minute walk to the lobby at SSR, you see a bunch of people jump in defending SSR, and how the walk is relaxing. But a 15 minute walk at AKV is nothing but a bother.

I think the fuss over the walks at SSR is hysterical too! I have stayed everyplace but Grandstand and hauled my "worn out" body to the main area without any problems. :lmao:

Its not the walk to the pools that I would see as a problem, but the walk from Kidani to Mara to bring a quick breafast to the room that I see as potential issue. After a late arrival the night before, I have been sent out to bring back provisions while others were getting ready. Not sure that would be a reasonable option when staying at Kidani, but maybe the store there will have some decent breakfast pastries other than frozen muffins! -- Suzanne
