will hotel pick up pillows?

Disney actually has runners that do this exact thing. I don't know about Macy's specifically, but we have had runners go to Target to get us a new suitcase.
Interesting. So instead of a suitcase they sell right there on property they went to Target? Recently?

Wow. Where were you staying, and what were the details?

GF got us diapers and AKL got us the suitcase. GF was RPC CL and AKL was a DVC grand villa. Our VIP guide was actually the one who suggested it to us - we didn't know it was something that was done.

Just this past trip (July 4) we also had the hotel (BC) offer to go pick up a prescription for us at CVS, but then we ended up not needing it.

Yes, in May. Only suitcases they sell in gift shops have Disney stuff all over them. The wheel broke off one of ours and we needed a new one.

You are usually listed as a VIP guest to get this kind of service but yes it can happen for repeat guests or those spending large amounts for private events. Not even close to the oddest things they are asked to do.

Sounds like your VIP guide has an in to things that some of the rest of us can't get access to. Not a surprise actually. Because most of us can't pick up a phone and call the same folks that a VIP guide can.

Anyone at Disney right now want to call the front desk and ask?

Oh yeah for the level of those two sounds about right but still not a guarentee. Prescriptions they do because of Centracare contract anyone from the all stars up should be able to get medical help from their front desk.

The VIP guide didn't arrange it. She just told us it was an option. We spoke to the concierge upon returning to the hotel.

Prescriptions were from an off-site pharmacy.

This isn't an uncommon service. Lots of resorts around the world offer runners for this exact type thing, especially since most people staying at their resorts don't know the area or don't have personal transportation. It isn't unusual. Maybe it is to the typical WDW-only traveler, but not to the rest of the world.

That's kind of the point though, isn't it? Other than cost, Disney deluxe isn't anywhere near the realm of actual 5 star/luxury resorts in any part of the world. Not even at their highest room category - price, sure...but service, no way! With all the major cutbacks it seems unlikely that they retain staff for this type of thing. Like pretty much everything else at Disney, it's more of a YMMV situation rather than a guarantee. For that reason, I wouldn't rely on anyone but myself to get what I need there.

Disney if you are sick will get your prescription and even pay for transportation to an offsite doctor. This was offered to us at AKL. Other things... I would guess if you are staying concierge level and request specific pillows from Macys in advance of your arrival Disney will accommodate at your expense including shipping fees if any....

But the Marriott does it, and they aren't exactly luxury accommodations. No one is expecting this service for free. We were charged for the service plus the cost of the merchandise - it was charged to our room.

I'm not saying expect it, but it does exist and never hurts to ask.

I agree. The service at Hard Rock at Universal meets or exceed any WDW Deluxe Hotel I've stayed at. The main difference is that hard Rock does not rely on college interns to staff their hotel. The staff I spoke to had been there for years and liked working for the company.

Universal has just as many college kids. Not every single Disney employee is on the college program. The concierge and club level staff will not be college program kids. It takes a lot to get into those roles at Disney. Sure a handful may make it to the front desk of a deluxe but that isn't common. I know people who wanted to work at Grand Floridan and it literately took 2 years in the company for them to even be considered for concierge at GF. Same for Beach/Yacht.

I did not read the whole thread. What I cant seem to wrap my head around is why you would even ask? If I knew I didnt like the pillows I would bring my own, uber to a store to buy them or have amazon ship them to the hotel. I would never in my wildest dreams expect or ask disney to pick up pillows for me.

As to disney offering to pick up a perscription, that is something more in line with the tasks I would expect disney to provide for their guests.

Because it's not uncommon at all for luxury hotels to do this. And time is money, moreso at Disney than many other destinations. I see no problem with asking, but as others have said, WDW resorts (even the Deluxe Club Level resorts) don't offer anything close to what a true luxury hotel does, service wise. Thus, I would generally expect the answer to be no for such requests. But it certainly doesn't hurt to ask...

You are right, it can't hurt to ask. Worse they can do is say no. The bigger problem is getting to the right person to ask. At Disney it's not really possible to pick up a phone and call, even from your room. You need to go in person to be sure you are speaking to someone at the resort. Otherwise, you usually end up at a call center and there is often no way to know this because they don't fess up it's a call center.

A few years ago when we stayed at AKL on our first Disney trip, the bed was very uncomfortable. After a night or two, our backs were killing us. We went to the front desk to ask if there were any foam toppers available. They said probably not, and that they kept very few around since they can't be cleaned.

But I remember she specifically said if they couldn't find one, they could send someone to Target to get one for us. I wouldn't have thought to ask for anything like that. (They found one for us without going to Target though.)

I think they're more likely to offer this when there's a problem of some kind, and I definitely wouldn't expect it.

Disney does not use internes or many... I would lean toward none as I can not recall ever coming across them in the 30+ plus times I have been there. you should look at the POLY as there are employees their since the resort opened in 1971..... I have never found the service to be better at Universal but there is nothing to complain about there either. Also be aware they are not Universal Hotels... they are actually Lowes Hotels which is a semi luxury brand... but I will say value wise Lowes Hotels at Universal are a better value than Disney hands down...
