Will DVC increase the price of OKW add ons after the end of February?

I plan to add on at OKW at $96 a point from DVC because I expect an increase in the per point price after the increase in the price of the extension to $25.00 from $15. I want the 50 year contract.

DVC has always telegraphed any increases in price, but I'm not taking any chances. I plan to buy several additional 25 point contracts since we still pay no closing costs.

Anyone agree or disagree? :)

With the economy a concern right now, I don't think there is going to be an immediate price increase at OKW. But you never know. I think buying several small add-ons that can be sold if the need arises is a good thing, rather than a large single add-on.

To me, buying several small add-ons is a far smarter move than buying the extension on an existing contract. You're getting points you can use now, rather than paying a lot of money for points that don't even exist for 35 years.

That would be the game plan I would use if I were actually able to buy any more add ons. Alas, its not in the cards for us.

Has there ever been a "surprise" price increase? The last few increases have come after a warning period. I am interested in OKW pts. direct from DVC too.

I'd be interested to know that too, just in case we were to have the funds come available to do it.

The $96 price mirrors what they are charging right now for AKV ($104 less $8 promotional discount.) Those two resorts now have identical 2057 ending dates.

Regardless of the cost of the 15-year extension, I don't see DVC charging more for OKW than it does for AKV. Next time pricing on AKV/SSR is adjusted, OKW will likely follow suit--but not before.

EDIT: BTW, the last 3-4 price increases for SSR/AKV have all been announced several weeks before they took effect, and most included a period where current members could get the old price for longer than new members. Price adjustments on the sold-out resorts have happened with less fanfare, but as I said I think AKV and OKW are joined at the hip right now. Expect any pending increases on AKV to apply to OKW as well.

Can't speak for before 1996, but since then there has always been the warning before any increase. The warning is a marketing tool -- they always get a spike in sales (including many add-ons) between the warning and the actual price rise.

Just heard this morning on CNBC several comments of "we may have hit a bottom" as far as the market goes. So the buy on rumor, sell on the news (I know, this is for stock purchases) may be a sign that prices could in fact increase in the near future. :goodvibes

Hi..........Does anyone know if the AKV ($104 Less $8 promotional discount) is still available? If we called anytime with interest in purchasing AKV points would we automatically get that discount? Sounds very interesting! Thanks!

My guide told me 2 weeks ago that OKW was going to $106/pt on March 1st.

Oh my, I wonder if the other resorts will be going up as well? There was just a price increase last year. Is there one every year? This is alot sooner than I had expected. Thanks for the post! :goodvibes

Price increases typically occur MORE than 1x every 12 months. In recent years they have gone up about every 8-10 months.

Have you noticed a change in the resale market prices as these price increases occur through Disney?

Because I go to OKW more than 80% of the time.
Because I need the 11 month window to get my annual OKW GV for late January.
Because I think a price increase is probably coming on OKW2057 contracts after Feb 29th.
Because I need the points.
Because we don't pay any closing costs.
Because CD's are only paying 3.5%.
Because Jim McCoy is a good salesman.:thumbsup2

P.S. I actually bought two 25 point OKW2057 contracts from DVC.
