Will CR DVC be hotel rooms or DVC units

As long as the entry level number of points stays the same - 150, correct? - the points per night will essentially be the same as the other DVC resorts. I don't think they will increase the number of entry level points b/c then DVC would have to decrease the cost per point. I suppose DVC could keep the cost per point the same but increase the entry level number of points to derive the "premium" some are suggesting for CR accommodations.

I agree with those that believe there will be no premium for CR, nor do I understand the justification. Yes, it is on the monorail but these will not be tower rooms. Wing rooms are some of the cheapest rooms available at a deluxe, sometimes going below $200 per night with an AP discount. By comparison, standard rooms at BW and BC are all above $200 with AP discount during the same period. Now, after they rehab the rooms, I can see the standard wing room going for the same price as a standard BW or BC room, or perhaps slightly higher, but I think any point differential would be negligible. Otherwise, the point system and/or trading privileges would have to be completely revamped.

I would expect the same cookie cutter mold that WDW-DVC resorts have used since BWV. SSR was their chance to break away from that mold, and they didn't. But, I hope I'm wrong.

Well so far DVC has managed to swindle enough prime real estate out of WDW to build 5 resorts. It wouldn't surprise me if they could do it again. Personally, I think they're in cahoots!

Let's hope they have at least one more good swindle in them! I'm pretty sure they'd make more money with a chunk of CR as DVC. Those wings have been in bad shape for a while and under-used.

Wow, wouldn't a monorail DVC be great? All-studios would be fine by me. We'd just spend a couple of nights at CRV (most likely with really high pts.) and the rest at BWV in bigger digs. What a great MK-Epcot combo that would make, eh?

Ah, well. Dreaming is fun.

My speculation is that they will charge the same price as SSR (i.e. $98 a point), but SSR will continue to have incentives and VCR will not need them. So effectively, SSR will be $8-10 cheaper depending on the incentive.

As far as the number of points to stay there, I suspect it will be same as VWL or BCV - maybe slightly higher. But I would vote for the same just to keep things simple. After all, these are not tower rooms. Of course, it depends on how many units they can build and the cost to build.

As for room type, I would guess they would tear down the existing building and build a new building. They would then use the standard floor plans and get a mix of studio, 1 and 2 bedrooms. I doubt if they would do Grand Villas due to the limited space available (again like VWL and BCV).

However, I would read nothing into the post about the person who had to be moved to the Poly. It probably had nothing to do with DVC. It sounds like they are planning on remoduling one wing (rumors has it being the South wing) this summer. The rumored schedule is too short for it to be a DVC remake. For this person, they probably booked too many wing rooms (she said her specific room, but was talking about a July visit - doesn't make sense as rooms are not assigned this early). So I would guess they booked more than one wings worth of rooms for those days and also have the tower booked, so they are moving some of the extras now. Seems a little early to reschedule people due to likely cancellations, but maybe there are more overbookings than they think are likely to cancel and so want to deal with some of them now - and she got picked and was willing to move.
