next year.

Any ideas on how we can get members to march in the parade?

Not the club's first parade...It's a Mickey Mouse club in a senior community in Florida. Participation is down...we are new to club.

thank you.

I grew up in a small town that held a parade for just about every holiday. There was (probably still is) a group called the Klampers. They would carry shotguns, then load them with blanks and shoot them off simultaneously on the count of 3.

You could try that.

Too much missing info to give a meaningful answer. Have they ever been in a prior parade or is this a first-time thing? Is the 'club' a marching band or some other group? Where/when is the parade and how do groups get 'invited' to participate?

lol, my response would be drop it like it’s hot and run in the opposite direction.

Signed, a cheerleading coach
100% agreed!

When I first started teaching at the middle school, I tried to start a marching band like we had when I was a student at this same school. We did 1 parade and were practicing for the second when a police car showed up. We were violating the county noise ordinance at were told to stop.

The officer just happened to be a friend from high school. He asked if we ever wondered why the ice cream man never drove through the streets during 10 am-2 pm. He said it was the noise ordinance was in place for children's nap times.

I do have to say that I was happy to not have to do marching band because even then, in 1989, kids still whined about having to do actually move around instead of sit.

Precision lawn chair drill team; fun people can't resist how silly it is. (You really need the old-style aluminum/webbing folding chairs to do it right)

Parade groups tend to need to be really fun groups to get people to participate. Liquor goes a long way toward generating enthusiasm, as does a dedication to sheer silliness. "Throws" are also great fun, and if you have good ones will make the group very popular with parade-goers. (You don't have to actually throw them; at small parades you can just hand them out to individuals.

Recruit your local Parrotheads; those folks dearly love a chance to dance in the street.
