Our previous cruises were without our grown children. In July, we will be taking DD, DD, son-in-law and grandson. The baby will be 2 in April, and is bright and into mechanical toys already. His parents are concerned there won't be enough for a 2 yr old to do on the 3 Day Wonder in July. I know about the Mickey pool, but since he is too young for the clubs, what else is there for a 2 year old? We will be staying on the ship in the Bahamas, and I haven't done the family beach at Castaway Cay. Any input from folks who have taken a child this young will be appreciated. I get so much from these boards. Thank you all so much!:earsgirl:

There is no way he will be bored! Just walking around the ship and exploring is entertainment at that age. We took our son when he was 21 mos & just shy of 3yr. He loved it both times. There are characters everywhere. Places to check out. They show 1st run Disney movies, the shows are great. There are times where you can take him in the club to play as long as you stay with him. We did this a couple of times. They do it when the other kids are scheduled to be other places on board, so the place is pretty empty. Go and have a great time, one thing you will not have to worry about it boredom.

No way will a 2 YO be bored. We took our DS when he was 17 mos, then returned with his little brother when DS (#2) was 20 mos. They had a blast in the pool. Walking around exploring was fun. The shows were great. We made sure to get an aisle seat in case we needed to leave early, but we never did. Games on board were a hit, too. We also went into the kids clubs when the older kids were away. Even quiet/nap time in the cabin was fine. You will all have a blast!!

Thanks Tiffj and Woobie! I forgot that exploration can be fun to a 2 yr old. We get to watch him while his Mom and Dad do the Quiet Cove. They don't know that we're the lucky ones!

Our DD was 22 months and our nephew was 2 1/2 on our first cruise and they had a great time! While she was frightened by many of the characters (probably because of their size!), she fell in love with Pluto and still carries her pink Mickey shovel from Castaway Cay around the house and talks about "Mickey's boat" when she sees pictures, etc.

By the way, if your grandson likes waffles, we found that they always have the Mickey shaped ones (plain and chocolate) at the Beach Blanket breakfast buffet on Deck 9. Even when we ate in Parrot Cay (deck 3) one morning, my sister-in-law brought some down to make the little princess happy!

Enjoy!!
