Will 18 month olds wear sunglasses?

I'm checking into buying sunglasses for our son. But interested to hear from other parents. Perhaps this will be a waste of money. At this point, he won't leave a ballcap on his head, but he's only 12 months old right now.

By the time we do WDW, he'll be 18 months. Any 18-month-olds out there leave their sunglasses on?

My ds always loved hats, but not visors.
On our trip at 23 months, we bought him sunglasses, which he didnt mind for awhile, but he kept takign them off to play with them, and then couldnt get them back on his ears himself, so it was a pain.
We used a baseball cap or swim cap and the sunshade to keep it out of his eyes. I actually really liked the swim cap, as it has fabric that hangs over his ears so it kept those ears from getting burnt on top.

I did just get my new One Step Ahead catalog, and tehy have some sunglasses that look more like the glasses attached to an ajustable headband for babies. They look really cool but idk how well they work. It says 6-18 months for ages, and they are $7.95. Might be worth looking into, especially if you got them and could use them this summer. Oh, I just saw on teh back cover that they have some other ones that are a little more expensive (14.95) but they fit birth-age 3 so could be used longer.

Thanks! I checked out that site. I like the Kid Banz sunglasses and the stroller battery fan. I like your cap with the ear cover idea. They have that too. That totals $50 for all three. I guess I'll have to think this over.

My kids would never wear sunglasses when they were toddlers...but that was ok with me.

I'd rather have them wear a hat...it covers ears, faces, etc.

Mine always wore the Land's End flap hats. They cover the ears & go down to the shoulders. I'm not sure if L.E. makes them anymore. People would always ask me, "Where did you get those hats?"

I tried these too and they weren't any better. They actually pushed up against my dd's eyelashes. She wouldn't wear any sunglasses at that age. Hats went over a little better but it was sometimes still a battle.

My little guy has worn them since birth practically. At 11 months he pulls them off a little more frequently, but I persist. Along with hat and sunscreen. I've always used Baby Banz. I figure if I need them - he needs them.

We got our sun hat last year at Target. They were in the infant/baby isles with matching swim diapers. I am sure they are not the only place that sells them, and it may be cheaper than online.

Mine would not last fall but he was only about 16 mths then. I'll try as soon as the sun comes out here Shouldn't be more than a few months now Getting into gear for spring, I actually just bought him a pair of little green glasses with the velcro strap to keep them on (so cute). He probably won't wear them, but I'm persistent and just keep trying. Wish me luck

None of mine have kept on sunglasses at that age!! BUT, since my little ones have older siblings who do wear sunglasses, I have no choice but to get them for all. I'm sure it will be money wasted, but I'd rather deal with that then have a trantrum because so and so has them but I don't!

I'd say either buy the expensive ones with the bands or go cheap. I used to buy the cheapest ones possible, that way it was no big deal when the kids would lose them all the time. Although more than losing them, our problem was the little one taking off the sunglasses and dropping them and I wouldn't notice until the stroller ran over them or I stepped on them!

My daughter is 15 months and wont wear sunglasses or hats ...im lucky if i can get her to wear shoes haha >.<

We went when my DD was 19mos. No way would she wear sunglasses. I carried some around for her, but she took them off constantly, couldn't get them on, etc. Luckily it was Nov, and somewhat cloudy some of our days, so they really weren't needed. She is more stubborn w/stuff like that though. My 4 yo wore sunglasses from when she was young with no problems. When we sat in a downpour for Spectro, the 4yo also kept her hood on, kept covered w/her poncho and was dry....the 19mo had her hood off (even tho we kept putting it on, 2 sec later she pulled it off), stuck her head out from under the stroller, into the rain, pulled at her poncho to have it off...by the time we got done w/the parade it looked like she just took a bath.

I have never had a problem with keeping glasses or a hat on my son. He was wearing sunglasses since about 6 months. I will say, however, when we go to Disney he will not keep his hat on, and I think it is because he is too hot, because he does leave the sunglasses on.

DS#1 would hear a hat of any type, but never sunglasses until he was about 3 1/2. DS#2 would not wear any kind of hat, but happily wears sunglasses; he's 25 months now. Waiting to see what DS#3 will do.

DS always kept his hat on, and was picky about sunglasses. He much prefers to wear my sunglasses than his own.

Mine would wear sunglasses at 18 mos. if the sun was in her eyes. Once she took them on and off a few times, she realized it was a much more pleasant experience with them on. She wouldn't wear a hat, though, because it would cover up her bow - but I doubt you'll have that problem.

My #1DS has worn sunglasses almost since he was born (he was born in the spring). He loved his hats and sunglasses. It was even a joke as he got older, he would be the only kid on the baseball field with sunglasses on. #2DS however never wore sunglasses or hats.

My DS (23 months) is really good about wearing hats and sunglasses. He knows to keep them on when its sunny. He's not so gentle as I would like him to be, but its only my sunglasses he has snapped in half.

My oldest ds (3) would wear anything we put on him. He still will. My dd will not wear anything she does not want to. That includes her outfit! If she doesn't like it she pulls it off until you put something on that she likes. She's been doing that since she is 1 and she is now 2. DS#2 is still young yet (5 months) so we're not sure what his postion will be yet. I personally prefer the hats. Definitely get the stroller fans.
