Hi All,

Bill, enjoy your day off

Lynn have fun at the mall

Its raining here too, the only difference is its still hot and muggy.

Linda- Here is what I have learned about the time-suck at work vs. what you can really get done when you are planning for yourself. As a corporate VP muckety muck, i spent most of my time in meetings, on mindless conference calls and dealing with personnel issues. I'm not sure how I kept up my skills for the past seven years, really. Over the past year while working for myself (tomorrow is the first anniversary of my striking out on my own with my consulting business) I have found huge chunks of time to think and do. I work half has much, make twice as much money and am a different human being - more relaxed, more fun and I have more time with my family. My conclusion is that corporate America has sucked the life out of all of us who are a part of it and that's why we have spent so much time bored while in our offices.
jeff
You GO boy! :thumbsup2

I have to (gulp) .......agree.....with Bob. Go Jeff go!!....it still sucks that this gov't doesn't support small business and its growth the way it should.

Mutt: Enjoy the day off!

Our Northern Friends: This is one of those regional things again...Kathy and I despise 90 degree weather in October as much as you despise snow in October. So, for a season or two, we would love to swap places with you! It is supposed to be into the 90s where I am at in South Georgia as well starting tomorrow. Of course, my hotel is less than 20 miles from the Florida line.

I keep coming close to getting myself in trouble because I keep thinking about the fact that I could be in Orlando in just a few hours. DW wouldn't mind, would she?

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

I have it in writing and now in my post so that he can't edit it out! :cool1:

Good morning!

Wow -- Bears actually pulled it off! DH kept coming upstairs to give me updates during the last 5 minutes of the game. :rotfl: The game reminds me of Al Davis' motto: Just Win Baby! (Maybe the Raiders will decide to try that sometime this year. :rotfl2: In the meantime, I have 3 free hours every Sunday! :rotfl: )

Mutt - Have a nice day off! :cool1:

Lynn - Hope you get to the mall and do some shopping!!

Kathy - Do you have another spare bedroom down there??!! :lmao:

We have another gray rainy day here. At least we're already in the 50's so no frost here. 39 days, huh??!! Can't wait -- yet I still have so much to do!

OK, quick show of hands (or posts): How many of you are getting decked out in pirate garb for Pirate Night? pirate: How many are going with something more simple like a pirate t-shirt, eye patch, etc.? I'm just wondering how much (or little) the pgthree family should do for the festivities. :confused3 (I'm a lemming!!!!)

Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning Banana Heads

Is it just me, or does it seem surreal to you how close we are to this cruise???

Unbelievable how those Bears pulled off that win last night with no offense TDs. Wow! Hey, what I care about is their defense got me 17 points on my fantasy football team for yet another win! :woohoo:

Bill's not at work today. The real reason is that he's still hurting from the beating I gave him last night for that awful picture he posted. :furious:

Jeff, your analysis was right. Corporate America drains any sense of self. It's so sad. (Bill? CAKES CAKES CAKES!!)

Cheri: Nice job saving for cocktails ... keep up the good work, and meet me in the bar every chance you get :lmao: Oh hey, I don't remember the video for I Wanna Rock too well, but I know we can probably find it on You Tube! Bob, I'll bet if you search for it, you'll remember it, too.

Catch y'all later

Being relatively new to this group, I guess I should be proud :confused3 that I was the one who got Bill and Bob to agree? :rotfl2:

C:

Cake decorating, Bill? If so, you have a winner because Corporate America and Cakes together brings out the best part of working - the afternoon Cake Party "Get well, get well soon, we hope you do get well..." For all Seinfeld fans on the board...

Jeff: I don't know if I would count that as one of my finer attributes! Also, you and I are going to have to spend some time talking on the cruise. I know it is dangerous to let two consultants talk, but if we can talk work for a brief period, I would like to hear about you going out on your own. I have a client who actually wants he and I to venture out together next year. I promise not to ruin your vacation! :rotfl2:

Woo: It is funny you and Mutt should mention the cake decorating business. I have thought about opening a dessert cafe many times just so I could spend the days baking! If I were not in consulting, I would most likely be a chef. Even thought about entering Food TV's "Next Food Network Star". That would be a blast! Of course, my absolute dream job would be to travel the country eating at restaurants and reporting on what I find (kind of a Marc Decarlo "Taste of America" type thing). But, alas, no one wants to pay me to do that! :rolleyes1

Bob - No worries. I LOVE talking about striking out on my own. And while when i was working for the man, I was loathe to talk business on my own time, now that it's my thing it's a whole different story. That's just a preview of how your life can change if you take this route. :goodvibes

Hey Turkeys! I need your help. :grouphug: We MUST keep my dh away from TiggerKing and Jeff or we will all be subject to hours of conversation on that nasty work stuff!

We aren't getting very decked out for pirate night. DH made some tshirts and we'll have our bandannas. I'll probably grab eyepatches and maybe some big fake earrings at the dollar store and that will be it. On our last cruise, someone ordered a bunch of beads, eyepatches, etc. from Oriental Trading and handed them out. I should look for them..I think they're in the toy room.

Anyone thinking of getting insurance? We did use it when our 1st cruise was interrupted by Hurricane Jeanne but I'm on the fence now that we'll be out of hurricane season.

At home on this lousy, wet, cold day in PA. I have a ton of laundry to do and think I will pack a little more. It helps pass the time until I see Mickey again.

Oh no Jamie, we will find him and draw him into our evil circle! :chat:

As for the insurance, I did buy it a few weeks ago. To be honest, I am not worried about hurricane issues, but I purchase it because of things like car troubles on the way to Orlando, or I do something stupid and hurt myself and then can't make the cruise (this almost happened on our 2004 cruise when I hurt my back the night before we were supposed to leave for Orlando), or some sickness appears that we were not expecting. When I am spending this much money on a trip, a couple hundred dollars seems worth the expenditure, and I pray I never have to use it!

Jamie...we got insurance too. I guess its just too much money for us to have something go wrong. We live in northeast ohio so we're sorely aware of how quickly bad luck can ruin happiness.
Seriously,....I would recommend getting the insurance...its just peace of mind.
That was another installment of...............
Two cents from the mutt

Ditto us on the insurance issue. Hate writing that part of the check, but I just know the first time I don't, one of the kids will get sick, I'll fall off a chair or some such silliness will occur.

Hi Fellow Turkeys and Bananas!

                    (20 - Kathy)

I had some bananas to catch up on...I've been MIA for a few days. Crazy, crazy things going on up here in NJ. We had the wedding over the weekend which was a REALLY good time...spent most of Sat and Sun recovering - YIKES! Mainly from lack of sleep and TOO much dancing

Back into the swing of things now...I need to be at my Jazzercise class every morning this week as one of the other Class Managers is on crutches...plus I threw together a quick surprise birthday celebration for our Instructor/Class Owner....I am having a liquidiation sale at my house on Thurs.-I used to sell Longaberger baskets and I am clearing out my stock...THEN this weekend we are having a garage sale!!! Can you say "BUSY"!!!! Besides all of this there is the usual running the kids around to activities..the book fair this afternoon at DS's school..the meeting last night at DD's school.......

I CAN"T wait to put real life behind me in a few weeks and take in every wonderful second of the Magic.

I too vote for leaving the gift exchange for the 1st day...I think it will just be easier for everyone.

Not sure about the Pirate thing yet...I bought some tatoos for us to wear and DS has a Capt. Hook costume that I'm trying to get him to where..the rest of us will probably do the eye patch/earring thing...I dunno, we'll see.

Ok...I think I'm caught up...oh yeah....that was a VERY impressive win by the Bears...DH just had to tell me about it when he came to bed last night...even though I was basically sleeping .

I'll check in later. Have a great day everyone!

kelly

OK I sucked at that game Shell, I knew one, but in my defense I was not a heavy metal fan.

Mutt, when you open your cake shop can I come work for you?

We are going to wear costumes I think, what I mean is I haven't told Mike he is wearing one yet :rotfl2:
