We were getting way too close to the bottom of the page here, so I had to drop in and bump us back up. Hope everyone is having a great day! :thumbsup2

Kathy, unfortunately, you will be trying to find and a him AND a her! We've both contributed to Guido's spoiledness! But then I see that Minnie is training you very very well ... Guido would be proud!

If you haven't seen it, go to You Tube and search for Bindi Irwin's memorial to her dad Steve. Wow, that kid was remarkable and really held her own. She's a better speaker than I could ever be!

Wendy, you're not allowed to brag about spa treatments and lunch with the girls when there are others in the room that have to sit at a desk for the day! :sad2: How's Dad doing anyway?

Bob, ya gotta get those dogs to understand that they should only enjoy those things that cost Mom and Dad MORE money, not less! Geez, Guido and Minnie have that figured out! I mean, Guido doesn't settle for regular Milk Bones ... Oh no! Not for King Guido! Daddy buys him roasts and cooks them on the grill! (side note: believe it or not, pound for pound, buying cheap roasts at Sam's Club actually costs less than regular doggie treats!) :dogdance:

JAMIE! WHERE ARE YOU???

Well, dad did spoil them a little bit last night. We stopped at Chick Fil-A to grab dinner to take back home, and I ordered a 4 pack of nuggets to give them each a little treat for behaving while they were in the car. Of course, since there were three of them, dad got the additional treat for treating them! :rotfl2:

Hey Bill,
what's this about dairy queen??

I use to be a manager at Arby's years ago and we had an older couple that came through the drive thru with their doggie and bought him an Arby's junior, Plain, small fries everyday. They would park and use a knife and fork to cut and feed him the Roast beef sandwich. I dont ever remember them getting anything for themselves. :rotfl2:

I keep telling Greg we should stop at Burger King or Wendy's to buy Minnie a treat after she is good getting bathed, but so far, NO luck!!
so lets hear bout DQ, maybe that will help convence him!! :confused3

Well gotta run, the two mutts are stressing over the same ball again, :rolleyes1

Good afternoon everyone!

Well, after a cold start, it's a nice :sunny: afternoon here.

Lucinda - glad to hear your DD had a good day! :yay:

Steve and family -- here's more special pixiedust: for you. Keep us informed.

The dog stories are great! :thumbsup2 Our two older cats are soooo finicky -- they won't even eat filet mignon! After years of having to throw out the uneaten 1/2 of their canned 9-LIves every night, I have resorted to buying Fancy Feast in the small cans. I draw the line at serving it on a paper plate sans garnish.

Back to work! Who's going to get kicked off of DWtS tonght?? :confused3

Bye for now!

Cheri

I used to work at an ice cream place and you would not believe the number of people who bought ice cream cones for their :dog: :dogdance: :dog2: !!! (And many didn't buy anything for themselves, either!!)

Ok.... guilty as charged. Yes, I took Guido to DQ a few times...(we went last week once while you were at work, dear...forgot to tell ya--I guess Geedee Monkey forgot to mention that too). He's not really as spoiled as Shell says he is (dont even go for the throat by telling everyone about playing "stairs").

No, the best story I think I have is about Sammy. When we lived in Wooster, which is a pretty straight laced rural community, I took Sam to TCBY. I got myself something and asked the girl for a "kiddie" dish of frozen yogurt. When we pulled around, she saw Sammy sitting in the back seat and, really snotty--I'm assuming she thought the yogurt was for a kid, she asked "does he want a spoon?". Being the looney I am, I turned around and asked Sam if he wanted a spoon. He let out a little bark, with ears at attention....I looked the girl straight in the face and told her "he said no, but thanks all the same". Not even a chuckle out her...stone faced serious. I was never really regarded as a native of Wooster....I wonder why?

Enjoy the evening gang....
Bill

btw...on the passporter site, they have an e-book called Disney Cruise Clues...its only $6 to download---its 95 pages and has some pretty good tips.

Hello everyone. Just taking a break from AP United States History Homework. :rolleyes1

This stuff is hard! I've been working on this since 3:00 PM!
I also made up a card game today. It's pretty neat, but is acutally a spin-off of one of my friends games. His was too boring and confusing, so I came up with my own!

As I write up my homework, I'm pretty dazed and tired. :surfweb: Alas, I can only blame myself for procrastinating. :furious:

Hope everyone's day was just dandy. Two more days to go. :)

Night all. :wave2:

There's a funny thread on the main board about DCL Dining Nightmares or something like that. Anyone here who has cruised before have a nightmare story or embarrassing moment? We sat at a four-top for our family so we didn't get to share our meal with another family, but I did see two things that really stuck out for me.

1. There was a family one table over where the mom and dad wore the same outfit to every night. Now I would understand if they only brought one nice outfit or one pair of khaki's or one sundress..but NO these two wore the same white t-shirt and jeans (honestly) to every dinner - even formal night. As I sat there in my tux, i was happy that we didn't have them as table mates. I just would have felt uncomfortable.

2. On "tip" night - there were MANY tables empty and I just wonder if that was people trying to avoid paying the tips (the aforementioned t-shirt and jeans people were among them). Such a shame for these folks who work so hard to serve. We were not thrilled with our main server (Jesse) but really liked our assistant (Walter) yet we still tipped Jesse the "recommended" amount and tipped Walter more than the recommended.

I kept waiting for my kids (the 2 yo at least) to provide us with an embarrasing moment, but they were both little ladies on this cruise. Here's hoping to them doing the same on cruise number two!

We too have noticed that on tip night a lot of people are missing, we wondered the same thing about beating the tip. The lst night on the 7 day the buffet is closed for dinner so they had to have fast foods or room service for their last meal. I always hoped some did the tip at guest services is they truly were doing Palos or something the last night.

Well the dogs took DH for a mile walk, then Poncho swam for 30 minutes and they still have energy to burn!!
but it is almost bedtime anyway,
good night all,
Kathy

:wave2: Evening all.....well here is my doggie story:

This is before Jack...(our current dog) We had a mutt (sorry Bill) named Sam
a terrier/beagle mix. When we would go on vacation Sam went to "grandma" house. You know how grandma's are. They spoil the kids rotten.....well Sam sure got the treatment. Eggs for breakfast...icecream for dessert and who know's what in between. He loved goin to my folks house. He knew what their car looked like. He would sit by the door when I would say go watch, grandma and grandpa are comming over. As soon as their car would come down the street he would start barking... :) he was such a cutie and a good dog. If you spelled the word OUT, he knew what you were spelling and go sit by the door. My parents didnt know that. So one night when my folks were watching him, my dad said..well I should let the dog o-u-t. Sam ran by the door and sat there looking at him. My dad couldnt belive it. I really miss that dog.

Be back later to keep us posting and bumped

Good Evening All!

Jeff and Kathy -- I, too, have noticed empty tables in the dining room on the last night on both ships. I have the same thought - - they don't plan to tip their servers. But, then I remember, that if we can, Dave and I like to end the last evening at Palo. We tell our servers we'll be at Palo for dinner, but either stop by later or give them their tip on the night before. This cruise, we are at Palo two nights (thanks to our friends' being able to make ressies, too) Wednesday and Friday. It's interesting to read the tipping threads. We had a terrible asst. server 2 years ago, but we still gave her the minimum. We had great tablemates and found humor in her lack of common sense, lack of smile, forgetfulness, etc.

No horrible tablemate story, other than one cruise we were seated with another couple who demanded a detailed accounting of each item on the menu. In addition, they were never on time to late seating. Thus, we were seldom done with dinner before 10:30.

Last September, we sat with 3 DISers. It wasn't preplanned, but we made spontaneous rearrangements once we boarded.

Talk to all  heads tomorrow.

on our first cruise (a 4 night) we had our last dinner in Palo, but we stopped by the dining room before we went to Palo to give our servers their tips.
I know we could have done it at breakfast the next moring, but I felt better about doing it that night so they KNEW we were not going to walk out on it.

I can't understand trying to cheat the people who have worked so hard for a week to help you have a great dinner. Its not like the tips are THAT much per person, per server... (you spend more on a game of bingo!)

We have been watching our friends 3 kids this week. We have got them hooked on the food network :thumbsup2 The oldest (9) had asked me what I watched on tv one time and I had told him about Throwdown with Bobby Flay, and they all thought it sounded cool. So I taped Iron Chef America for them that night, and we have watched something each night since from the food network. (they didn't love Rachel Ray, I think because she is a girl, and girls are still "gross")
So tomorrow night we are going to have our own "Pizza Throwdown" Each kid is going to design and make their own pizza and they will be "judged" on looks and taste. The kids already make their top secret designs (and are VERY protective of them!)
Tomorrow is 2 months until DH and I fly to Orlando!!
Have a great day!!!

Good Morning!!!!

Just read a thread on the main DCL board about Spirit Air's "Dead Presidents" sale. Check it out as they're offering, for example, on 4 different days flights from Detroit to Orlando $1.00 each way. Of course, there are limited flying days, but if you're planning another trip, it may save some big $$$. Some fares are higher, $20 to Vegas. None of the dates work for me, though.

Have a great day everyone.
