Sorry, ladderbacks live out in the southwest. That one is likely a red-bellied woodpecker. Yes, I know its crown is red but the red-headed woodpecker has a full red head (and is rarely seen).
second the red bellied, think the redheaded doesn't have the striped back and the others ( ie downy) don't have that much red on the head...
i gotta go through my photos and see which i haven't posted so as not to bore everyone but i love all of yours so far

Could be. I really am not sure what it is. For some reason, I remember some discussion about ladderbacks somewhere with somebody.... Ok, I don't know what I am talking about. I just take the pictures.
How about "a pretty woodpecker"? I know I haven't seen one like that in Massachusetts. Seems like if it is a red bellied, they should be here, but I haven't seen one anyways. Always see the smaller ones.
we put out peanuts and the larger woodpeckers seem to like them. there is a pileated next door that goes to one of our pine trees, husband sees it a lot but i never can find it naturally
anyway, these were from last summer, kirtland ohio area, someone's yard for the deers, corning lake for the other 2
there was somekind of a bee hive inside a tree and these hummingbirds were going crazy, never knew they ate honey
