WiFi at Saratoga Springs

Anyone know when free WiFi is available at Saratoga Springs?? We'll be there early April.

Ah. That's still ok, as long as it's free!! I'm just trying to decide if we should bring our laptop, or a big pile of print-outs... (i'm an over-planner...don't even ask! )

Hey Dave.... I have pretty much understood that the free Internet WAS going to be wireless... I don't understand how wired Internet could be possible with the costs of running the wires that don't exist yet. They have copper for phones, but they don't have the wires for high-speed Internet.

The future is wireless... That is what Disney will offer in the future. IMHO

I would be surprised if the wired system was DSL. Maybe if one was connected by phone line. I must believe that Disney has many T-3 lines for connection if not FIOS.

All DVC resorts already have in-room high speed internet installed as copper drops. The connection is on the desk, and a patch cable is provided in a plastic pouch hanging in the closet. There's nothing new to install, just a change in the billing procedures. For DVC members, the current $9.95 daily fee will be waived.

I'm all for installation of WiFi and will be thrilled if they do install it -- the network cables they provide were just barely long enough to reach the couch in our SSR studio. I just didn't understand that to be what was promised to us as a new perk this year.

How would they control who gets free service and who doesn't with WIFI- yes I am technology challenged in this area. I do think I read where they are going to try it out at HHI and VB.

WiFi can be set up on a fee-for-use basis. A good example is most airports. You can connect to the network, but can't browse anywhere until you've given them your credit card.

I belive VB is to be Wi-Fi as it has no in room high speed connections at the moment, but the WDW DVC resorts do have in room high speed so that will be free but not wireless.

Just came back from SSR last week and it looks like the wired internet is now free (at least for DVC members). It still asks you to login with your name and room number once and that was it for the five days we were there. No charge showed up on bill.

A nice suprise.

I guess it has been too long since I have been to a WDW (DVC) resort. HHI and VB do not have wired Internet in the rooms.... What is with that?

So, all the other resorts have wired Internet in the rooms? For a charge.

Thanks so much for this information! My DFH asked me about it last night and I said I didn't know but I knew where to find out! We will be at SSR next Saturday! Yahooo!

we checked out of SSR on March 1 and the internet charges showed up on our bill. We are DVC members also. The wonderful lady at the checkout did remove many of the internet charges.
