Myself ,DD(12), 2 nephews (28,22) are doing a week at BCV with DW celebrating her 50th. Any suggestions on what to do which would be "really special" for her? I am doing a birthday dinner at the Yachtsman.

Have you heard about the Illumination Cruises, You take the boat at the Marina by the Yacht Club and cruise around for a while and then they park you under the bridge to watch the Epcot fireworks. Our whole family did it, our boat held 10 people and we really enjoyed it. You can even get a bithday cake or chocolate covered strawberries for the trip and make it realy special!

Another suggestion, this would be just for the adults, my cousins took the Segway tour of Epcot (before it opens to the public) while honeymooning at OKW. They loved it, we want to do it as well but DS (13) can't go on it till he's 16, so we wait!

A day of pampering... perhaps a massage at the gym and a manicure/pedicure at the beauty salon at the Yacht Club

To add to the Disney magic, take the Keys to the Kingdom tour at the Magic Kingdom. The tour departs City Hall every morning and you must make reservations.

Happy Birthday to the birthday girl. :cheer2:

:) I would like a morning at the spa at SSR. I would get early appoints then have her leave about an hour earlier so she can enjoy the whirlpools, dry and wet saunas before her treatments. You can find pricing at www.relaxed yet.com ( I think). I would call a cab or have a towncar pick her up--something like that, then she can ride the bus to meet you somewhere. DH had flowers from the WDW Florist delivered to our room and I enjoyed them the whole trip.

For my 50th birthday, DH bought us DVC. So how about an add-on? Or if that's a little beyond your budget, maybe a trip over to Beaches and Cream for a kitchen sink. It's so mcuh fun because they make a big announcement and flash the lights when they bring it out.

That's so funny, we are doing the same thing. My DH is turning 50 in November and he wanted a cruise. We are cruising and then spending 5 days at the BCV. Our last night there will be his birthday and we are having dinner at the Yachtsman. I am thinking of ordering a cake to have delivered to our table. There is a thread of cake pictures which I have been checking out to see if I can find something to order for him. When is your DW's bday?

Never mention the number 50.

These are some good ideas. We are taking my parents for my mom's birthday, too. I appreciate the sharing of ideas. :)

Does she embarrass easy? Then under no circumstances ask anyone to sing happy birthday to her at a restaurant. The BD person does not enjoy it if they are shy/or easily embarrasses.

How about a walk at night around Epcot for just the two of you. Stop for a drink somewhere, hold hands, watch Illuminations. Let her know she's still the girl you married. The nephews can watch DD for one evening.

:thumbsup2 Maybe buy her something special at the jewelry counter or perhaps the Micky Dooney and Bourke purses (very exclusive and very nice)you can only get at WDW....especially if she is really into the mouse and nice purses. You can buy it then hav e it delivered to the reaort without her even knowning it until you give it to her. Pack a giftbag and tissue paper in your suitcase with a card ahead of time and wrap it quickly when she is in the shower. :thumbsup2

1. Purchase DVC.
2. If you already have DVC a spa visit would be great.
3. Don't forget the Birthday Button.
4. Please do not mention the Big 50 !

The best suggestion I have ever heard was from Kevin from the Poscast Crew, write a letter to her and have it delivered by a waiter while dining. I promise you, as a wife myself, this would be very special.

Thanks everyone for great suggestions!! I love the spa idea and the letter at dinner. The boat cruise may work too!! We will be celebrating July 30th!

I just planned and got back from a quick long weekend trip for my DD's and her BFF's 21st birthday celebration. Here's what we did, perhaps there'll be a couple of things you'd like to incorporate into the trip for your wife's bday.

1) I put "21st birthday celebration" on every reservation we made. Dinner, lunch, tour, fireworks dessert party at MK, etc. Every CM had a great big happy birthday for them, at meals they had happy birthday sung to them, and received surprised plated desserts. At Sanaa they were given a birthday card each, signed "happy birthday" in different african languages, as well as getting a glass of champagne w/ a strawberry each, and a slice of cake on a decorated plate.
2) We (me and my friend, my dd's bff's mom) ordered balloon bouquets and had them delivered into the room, they were there before we got in. The girls loved them. We used Disney Florist, there's tons of special things you can have delivered, flowers, gifts, balloons, snacks, wine, beer, champagne, etc. check out their website.
3) We decorated the room for the girls when they were out, or you could use a service, which you can google for, I don't think we can post the names of them here on the boards.
4) We brought a small gift from home for each of the girls and placed them on the table at one of our celebratory meals. They were so surprised and loved it.
5) If she likes the Grand Floridian and/or tea, booking a "tea" (lunch too) at the Grand Floridian Garden View Room is a nice idea for the whole party. All different teas are served on english china, the menu doesn't look like alot of food, but really is and depending on what you order, comes with dessert pastries, food is delicious. Check out the menu on this website or wdwig.com. You can also order champagne and strawberries, or have a cake delivered to the table, etc. It's a great way to celebrate special occasions.
6) We did the Segway around the world tour and all of us loved it.
7) We did the fireworks dessert party at Magic Kingdom and it was wonderful, with AWESOME view of the fireworks.
8) Jellyrolls! Don't know if this is something that would interest your party, but what a great time! It's on the Boardwalk, like the only jumping bar onsite. Two "dueling" piano players playing requests, and they really get the audience up and singing and dancing and having a great time.

Hope your wife loves her birthday celebration!

Have a great 4th weekend here on wonderful Long Island ;)

How about afternoon tea at the Grand Flo, either for your whole party or your wife and daughter. Just did this last month for the first time and it was fantastic!!
