Friday 7/2
Its our last day at AKL,Karen and me wicked love this place!
How can ya not?? Ya got all that African atmosphere happenin' around ya. The African music, nuthin' we hear at home, the great smells of spices, all the colorful decorations. And let's not forget all those animals everytime you look out the window!! How awesome is that!!!
Today is the day we go to DisneyQuest and DTD to shop. I'm feelin' a liitle bad cuz I know Karen would love to go to the "peeool" so I suggest we do that after breakfast at Boma. She can't believe I wanna do that, but I convince her I do. Actually,I didn't. I skeeve the "peool",but she never says "no" to anything I wanna do,like DisneyQuest. Anyway,I figure it won't be too skanky early in the morning!
Neither of us are big breakfast eaters, but we gotta have coffee
for sure! We did like Boma for dinner and wanted to see what breakfast would be like. GREAT!!! I'm not into the bacon & egg
thing but the fruit they had was awesome! I bet I ate a whole freekin' watermelon!!! I definitely did damage to their fruit supply!!
We stayed at the "peeool" until noon. When the place started to fill with small kids(I love kids, but I just know they're wizzin' in the water...) we decided to go get ready for DQ and DTD.
We drive down to DTD and see where we'll be staying for our 2nd week. There's the big fish that looks nuthin' like a dolphin!
More like a Cod!! I think they should rename the resort--SwanCod!! Ya, like that would happen...
We get to DQ and you just know I'm wicked stoked about being in a 5-story building with all those pinball machines!! Let me loose!!!! Karen is such a good sport, she plays every arcade game right there with me,not one complaint. I think we hit every single machine and I had my fill. Man ,I love that stuff!!
We leave and now we go shopping(hate it, even in Disney). I never understood the concept of buying souviniers for people who never experienced the place or event. What possible meaning does a t-shirt with "Mission Space" on it have for someone if you didn't do it???? I don't dare share my opinion with Karen. She'd crack me one for sure!!
After we're done with shopping, we head over to Wolfgang Puck's and get some takeout to bring back to the hotel. We decide to hang out at AKL,pack, eat dinner and try out Victoria Falls Lounge.
Of course I was packed first because I never unpacked. I'm perfectly fine living out of my suitcase. Karen, ontheotherhand, unpacks and irons EVERYTHING!!!! How different are we????
Finally, she's done and we bust open our takeout. I run the linguini down to Mara's for a quick pop in the micro and we're good to go! The food was great!
Victoria Falls is a nice little place to sample some of the awesome African wines they have! We enjoyed the place and talking to other hotel guests. We talked with people visiting from Great Britain. Nice people, but man,I could hardly understand them! The accent really threw me! I think they thought I was hammered by the answers I was givin' them. Later,I told Karen I was having a hard time understanding what they were saying, and did she think they felt the same way about us? She looked at me and said,"ya think???" Whatever!
Tomorrow,we're off to The Cod (AKA "the Dolphin",I renamed the place to suit me!) and Seaworld!!!
