I'm gonna suck it up and finally purchase Wicked on Broadway tickets after promising DD12 for her birthday (last January). Lol.
I know I'll have to pay full price but want to know the best strategy for getting the best bang for the buck in terms of seats, etc.
We live North of NYC my DH works in the city. We are in no rush but would like to see the show on a Friday night if possible or on a night where the kids have the next day off from school.
I think it may have to be when the kids are back to school. Because it seemed I waited too long. All the seats in August are not too good unless I want to pay $200-300+ per ticket for premium or pay over box office prices through a secondary market (broadwaybox) plus steep service charges for semi-decent seats.
I was thinking of checking out the seating available for all our possible dates with the school calendar next to me. Should I go ahead and just purchase the tickets through ticketmaster or have my DH go to the ticket booth and purchase the tickets there.
I'd imagine we'd save on the service charges that way? Would the tickets showing up on TM be available at the ticket booth? What are the ticket booth hours and are there typically lines to buy tickets in advance (not same day)?
DH will NOT want to go (busy at work, etc.) and if he does will not be spending any brain cells to "choose the best seats available" while he is there. I'll have to tell him the date and general vicinity I prefer and he'll get it, that's it.
We'll need 6 tickets, if that makes a difference.
Any advice? Send DH (must do research on availability first, if possible) or pay the service charge and purchase through ticketmaster? Will it be cheaper to buy anywhere else? I did find tickets that seemed $4 less through broadwaybox.com but the service charge of $24 per ticket negated any "savings."
Thanks.
