Why?

:thumbsup2
It all comes down to money.

Busses are also a lot more flexible for handling peak traffic times and they don't require years worth of advance planning/construction to handle new resorts/parks.

Because a monorail is incedibly expensive to build. When they originally built it in 1971, the cost was about $1 million per mile. Today, it would be more than $100 million per mile.

Is that also why there isn't a direct route from MK to Epcot?
Logistics. The TTC/MK monorail was built years before Epcot and its monorail connection. It made more sense to add a track route than to reroute the existing tracks. Can you imagine the outrage if GF Guests leaving the Magic Kingdom had to go back to their resort by detouring through Epcot?

7. If all transportation was by monorail, it would become monotonous as opposed to magical.

8. Breakdowns on the monorail line have a greater impact than on bus lines given Disney's current layout.

These are very valid and accurate statements.

A breakdown on the monorail loop is a major problem, very time consuming and extreme inconvenience. You cannot just dispatch another monorail and pickup the guests.

A bus breakdown is easily remedied, dispatch another bus, pickup stranded guests and go.

New bus costs $250,000. No new roads needed and even if new road was needed, a road cost way less than $100 million a mile. New monorails millions each. New monorail switches are very expensive and slow. A train switch also requires powering down a segment of the beam to make the switch.

Neither mode of transportation is a revenue producer. That is probably the biggest factor. It always will come down to $$$$

100 million clams per mile! Why not.....after all it's not our money. :lmao:

Let's just go with... not practical.

As the great Greek philosopher, "Socrates" said, "Why", is the only question that ould never be answered.

Then again... he also said, "A small price to pay for the value received." :thumbsup2

Ok...Now I'm confused. Let's just :moped: where we need to go.

Think of the Monorail System they would need to access all the Disney vacation Resorts and smaller parks they added since the original Magic Kingdom, Polynesian and Contemporary Hotels. :scared1::scared1::scared1:
Good Luck all,
Joe
