Why won't Obama release these documents?

I'm not falling for any rumors that he isn't an American citizen, but I am kind of surprised that he doesn't just produce the birth certificate and move on. What's the big deal? I had to produce a birth certificate to join the military, to get a security clearance, to get a driver's license. Has he really never had to do any of that? So why not just release it?

I couldn't just show my degree for my job. I had to show my transcripts. I know I'm not the only person to have to do this.

I am curious, are they not public record? I thought it was jsut to get a certified copy that you had to provide proof that you were entitled to it. But I am probably very wrong on this.

As for Obama's birth certificate, he released his certificate of live birth from the state of Hawaii (the official birth certificate) last year.

Why does it matter for so many of our jobs but not for a POTUS candidate? Obviously, in the case of his birth certificate, it REALLY matters!

No he hasn't. If he had then this lawsuit would already be dismissed. He gave one copy to Factcheck.org - and only Factcheck.org who he has connections with - and there were still questions that arose from what Factcheck.org posted. If he has the birth certificate, why not provide it and have the lawsuit dismissed? It's as simple as that. Or, at least it should be... but with Obama...

He is yet to release the original long form copy of his Hawaiian BC.....this is not what is needed. This is not a full BC....there is still a lot of info missing from this. that is the problem.

Policy regarding grade transcripts vary with employers and there is no standard protocol. My employer, for example, only confirms that a prospective employee graduated from the institution(s) listed on their resume/application. There is no investigation into a person's grades or GPA.

If you notice, there are faint numbers in the area where the seal would be. Perhaps the raised seal did not scan as well as it should have.

I smell desperation of the McCain camp if they are bringing up old stories that were proven to be incorrect long ago.

Now, answer again why Palin won't release her college transcripts if they are so important to the job?

And how come there is no demand that McCain provide his birth certificate?

My teacher's union endorses him also. That doesn't mean union membership had to endorse him. It also doesn't give him a free ride to no transcripts or proper birth certificate.

You guys are ridiculous! His birth certificate surfaces & you are still accusing! What detail from his birth certificate are you so interested in learning that will affect your vote or silly fear of him? Are you concerned that his birth weight was too much for a candidate you would feel comfortable with? Maybe he was premature? Was his hospital crib next to a future baby terrorist?? Oh my goodness...

It is also my understanding that you cannot even RUN for president unless:
-you are at least 35 years old &
-you are a natural born citizen of the USA

Why won't Barack Hussein Obama II(or Barry Sotoro, a Muslim (I thought he denied being Muslim?)) release the documents?

A lot of OS "joking away" this very important issue. Are you all calling Sen Obama's grandmother a liar? She was THERE during the birth.

Why won't he release his college transcripts? I'm curious to know how a poor guy like Barack was able to afford some pretty prestigious colleges. They would also corroborate his being a citizen.

Huh?? This is about as relevant as the fact that I had a baked apple with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Why would any one think Obama's LSAT score relevant? Do you dispute that he went to Harvard Law School?

From my perspective, whether he received his entrance to Harvard Law School via merit or some other reason, in no way related to his score, is important. I have read some blogs from his contemporary Columbia grads and they wondered, also. While it might not seem relevant to you, that is no reason to assume it might not be important to others who are or attempted in the past to attend HLS and did not have an acceptable score.
