Why so much in taxes ??

I'm not complaining, I'm just curious..... I got a great deal on an SUV, total was $114 for the week, but what is the deal with $35 in taxes ?!

On rentals and hotel rooms additional "tourist" taxes and fees are leveled over and above the standard sales tax. Some of that is a concession fee the airport authority charges.

Why do tourists get charged extra in taxes? Because they use the roads, emergency services, etc., and in an area heavily populated with tourists, the cost of that use is far above what they would pay in "regular" sales taxes.

Why do tourists get charged extra in taxes? Well, the good people of Florida can either tax the good people of Flordia, or folks visiting from out of state. For some crazy reason they choose to tax the tourists.
