why only trundles at POR?

Has anybody else ever wondered why Disney only has trundle beds (for the moderate resorts) at POR? Why not CBR or CSR? It seems that Coronado Springs has the largest rooms...why not accomodate a family of 5 there, as well?

We have 5 year old triplets, so we have always stayed at POR, and we love it! We may try some Deluxes when the kids are older (and bigger) and when we can afford it better. And we fully intend to keep going back to POR. But, it would be nice to have a choice for a family of 5, without going to a deluxe.

Any comments or ideas?

Actually, I think I read that CBR has the largest rooms of any moderate... but I'm not sure why they don't offer trundles??? I think it would be great for people with 3 kids.

I would love to stay at CBR but there is 5 in my family & we are definately booking 2 rooms. That would be more than the price of a deluxe. Oh well, I guess we will have to stay there when our kids are out of the house & married. What's a 20 year wait

I've wondered that since our first on-site stay in 98 myself It also goes against the argument that there can only be four in a room at other resorts because of the fire laws. Why would Alligator Bayou be exempt from the laws?

At least there is one moderate resort available for families of five I'm sure POR gives many families a chance to stay on Disney property that wouldn't be able to otherwise.

I've also always wondered why they only have bunks at WL and AKL. I would LOVE to see bunks at all resorts. Especially now that my kids are teens. This would really save a lot of arguments.

I have read that it is due to fire regulations......why is a room at one resort exempt!!?? I dont believe that this is a regulation put into place by the FIRE DEPARTMENT....I believe that it is put into place by Disney....The Fire Department regulation may be that there can be no more that such and such amount of people in a room so that they know how many/who to look for in case of a fire but the actual amount of people allowed in the room HAD to be by Disney or POR would not be allowed 5 either. CBR rooms are bigger than POR. CBR would comfortably fit a COT. And in the same way of thinking I bet the deluxes COULD fit bunkbeds in place of some of the daybeds therefore allowing even MORE families to enjoy them but Disney hasn't SET the room occupancy to allow it.

Sorry if this sounds like sour grapes but as a member of a large family I dont think that, for a place that is supposed to cater to families, Disney is being fair.....we spend quite a bit of money there and I definitely feel they squeeze every penny they can out of EVERYBODY.

Why DON'T they offer more choices for families of 5?? I don't mind paying the extra money to have the trundle bed or a cot or whatever, but why can't they offer moderate options in other resorts?

We are planning our next trip( family of 5!) and we've decided that we are going to move up to a deluxe. I do not want to stay off site, but we have stayed at POR before, and we want a change. Unfortunately, we have to double our money to stay a place which will accomodate 5.

We spend extra money at WDW because of the 5 of us...tickets, food, etc. etc.--there's certainly no break in price for "extra children". Why can't they make the accomodations a little easier for those of us with 3 children?

I think that it could be due to fire laws. If you think about it, the individual buildings in Aligator Bayou are much smaller than the buildings at the other moderates. I'm not exactly sure why that makes much of a difference, but it is something that stands out about those buildings compared to all the others.

First, let me say I agree, Disney should provide a cost effective solution for families of 5 and even 6. Something based on number of parents with children so 5 or 6 adults would not abuse the solution. Disney resort rooms are already pricey as compared to room sizes and amenities elsewhere. But they can get the price and free enterprise rules. Last the room occupancy rulles, why are some 4 some 5, why any rule at all. It is based on Fire Codes, it is based on square footage, it is based on sleeping capacity (which is based on square feet), also remember different Disney resorts are in different Florida counties. Hence the different tax rate at different resorts. Different counties may have different occupancy rules. Also I stayed at BC in 1999 only three of us, I inquired about the use of a sleeping bag and sleeping on the floor (teenager did not want to bunk with an adult) (also the room we had had NO daybed). I was told no, I also inquired about a roll-a-way and was told no. The reason, the bedding in the room was already based (on square foot) on the Fire regualtions and could not be altered (fire regulation also prohibit sleepping on the floor). Yes I know it is done all the time, but I was told no sleeping on the floor and no roll-a-way allowed.

As someone with a large family, I have had to make do because we have four kids... we've missed out on part of the Disney Magic because we couldn't afford for all of us to stay at a deluxe. My dream is to stay at the GF, but with four kids, that's impossible. Just one of the sacrifices big families have to make I guess.

Still, I wish, since with more of us we still end up spending more money on food, souveniers and tickets, that Disney could offer a special for larger families (one or two adults and their kids). It's a shame that I have to wait until my kids are not with us, or grown up to be able to stay in my dream resort. I have a feeling it will be a bittersweet experience.

But I guess even Disney is not a perfect world!
