Why no SSR love?

boatboatboat, rather than being upset with how SSR is being marketed it sounds like maybe you should be upset with the guide who sold you those BWV points. Were you given the impression that your home resort advantage was absolute? That you should expect 2 month out booking at HH and Vero?

DVC is not a great program for people who want complete control in their short term planning. If you can plan long term, you're good, or if you are willing to be flexible in what you will take on short notice, you're probably okay too. Since I guess you want to book short notice but will only take a resort with a ten minute walk from a park, I can see why you're unhappy.

I booked at BWV 1 br last july 2 months out, VLV studio the week before X-mas at the 7 month mark, BCV studio at 6 months for July, OKW studio 2 months out. I have tried all on site resorts and my favorite is SSR. That said, I won't always stay there, and most people don't stay only at the home resort. That is what is so nice about DVC.

Also you have to realize that there are other transactions that go on besides the ones at BCV and BWV. People go to HH, other DVC resorts, Vero, Cruises, Concierge collection, trade to other timeshares, to other disney resorts etc. So not everyone is fighting for those two resorts.

I'm glad of this post. Why, it shows that some people here actually get and understand the bigger picture. Its not BCV/BWV agaist the rest of DVC. And that there are many many more options to do and stay then just those three resorts. Its not all gloom and doom as some think (actually it should say feel, thinking involves reasoning, some just can't).

cobbler....didn't someone already do the polls you were suggesting? Hmmm....I'll have to see if I can find them. If anyone else remembers them, please post if you find them as well. If I remember, they were very interesting.

I am on hold with ms, asking about a one bedroom july 24,25,26,27 at all the resorts.

I will post what is open.

SSR=yes many units

BWV=yes (two units)

BCV=no

OKW=yes a "few" units
HH=no

Vero=NO

Wilderness=YES many units

So as i said earlier, HH and Vero are taking the hardest hits.

Frankly I think this post confirms the sky is not, in fact, falling. Most people know that at four months out, they may not get their first choice of resort. As always, the larger resorts are going to have more availability.

I'm pleasantly surprised to find if I did want to book on such short notice I'd be able to choose from 4 out of 5 of the onsite options. And if I was dead set on BCV I'd waitlist (of course if I was deadset I would have called at 7 months.)

No availability 4 months out, during summer vacation, for the two small DVC beach resorts, is hardly a shock. I have long read on this board that if you want the beach resorts at the summer it's best to have a home resort advantage, but if not, to book day by day at seven months-- especially for one bedrooms.

But I wouldn't have bought DVC if I was planning on regularly booking 4 months out. Nice to hear there are options available, though.

Isn't it ironic that the OP who was pi$$ing and moaning that people, were INSULTING OWNERS is now doing that himself.

Here is HIS original comment

" I am surprised of the amount of disaproval, disrespect and dislike people have of the Saratoga Springs Resort and those who buy into that resort. "

I have re-read this thread, and the ONLY insulting of people has been done by him. Irionic..........

tomandrobin why don't you, go find the post you were whinning about when you made your ORIGINAL comment in this thread. Find those post, and copy them into this thread. I am curious what set you off.......

I'll wait.

Do keep in mind that DVC was sold to owners because, "well gosh darn it, it is just so flexable"........ other time shares are sold on FIXED weeks. kinda hard to be flexable and book a trip 6 mths out, when your home resort is FULL due to disney using YOUR HOME, to sell other sites.
Some people need to take a nap and give it a rest. Meltdowns are not becoming in adults.

I agree.......

well cept for the HH and Vero folks. The sky has fallen there.

Having been in DVC since ground floor those of us at OKW are spolied. Most of us love the laid back feel of home here. I have stayed at all the DVC resorts except for VB and much prefer to come home to OKW. Even 21 year old DS and 13 year old DD prefer OKW to the others. Cast members seem friendly and more ready to help at OKW. Those of us at OKW have gripes too since we can no longer use the pool at BCV and some of the perks we got went away. But now with dining plan available it is all worth while. I get to cook less now with it. Let's just hope it stays around for a long time. Thanks to Disney we can save a bunch with it and be able to take two or three trips a year. And look how many more things the kids want to buy so Disney makes out too. All in all it is a great place to grow up as my kids will tell you. Disney trips are what keep us going. We are now branching out to the Conceirge collection and this May the cruise. What a great investment for families to share adventures in. OKW is truly HOME AWAY FROM HOME.

Does that post somehow score you "points" in your cyber world?

I like SSR, so I'm staying out of that fight, BUT...

-- Just curious... Instead of building SSR, let's pretend DVC built a 1000 room resort that was walking distance to MK, had a private monorail to all other theme parks, a theme that would knock your socks off, great restaurants, 12 extra years, and so on...

Would folks be upset that DVC built a large resort?

Is the problem with SSR truly the size, or the fact that you don't like it? :smokin:

BoatBoatBoat, I don't really know where your hostility, attitude, or need to post foul language with asteriks and dollar signs and comes from, but around here most folks try to play nice. Your comment speaks much more of you than it does of DVC Sadie and definitely not in a postive light.

This SSR owner is quite happy with the purchase. It is my first choice DVC resort for upcoming stay. I may want to try other resorts but I am looking forward to staying there later this year. Its my dolls house for grown ups. :goodvibes People are entitled to their own opinions and tastes on where to stay. ;)

I just don't see it, sorry. One bedrooms at the beach DVCs in July are always some of the hardest to obtain ressies, and was the case before SSR. The HH and Vero owners are in great shape because they have a four month booking advantage to obtain those reservations.

The concern for me, is that Disney has built a LARGE resort that is in a less desirable location then the previous resorts. This will over the course of time put a strain on the resorts that are in PRIME locations.

If Disney built another resort in a PRIME area, then the current owners in PRIME areas, wouldn't feel as much concern.

But then again, if Disney built a brand new resort and installed a monorail from that resort to all parks, and built a water park/pool like BCV, and the new resort was a ten min walk to epcot or MK, then i am sure i would be looking to use my BWV points to book a stay there.

I agree. We bought a stash of VB points specifically to use for the hard to get VB ressies. :smokin:

All Beach weeks during the summer, when the kids are out of school, in every timeshare are almost impossible to get in on short notice. I wonder how many of them got pushed out for not planning 11 months out?

They seem almost non-existant on the boards.

Okay, so it's because you feel it will be less desirable to SSR Members, who will then try to book other places at 7 months.

My point is that size really has nothing to do with it. If DVC built five small resorts, and you thought they would be less desirable, you would have the same concerns... Right? :smokin:

correct, but seeing it done ALL AT ONCE causes greater concern. Imagine if a kid had to eat a bite of peas every day....... he could do that. Now put a cup on a plate and tell him to eat them. Instant tears...........

Many people adjust to bad changes alittle at a time.
