Why no Cars Land??

IF the license ever ends and Disney gets the rights back, the only attraction that would be rather difficult to re-theme would be Spider-Man. Hulk's just a coaster, and the Dr. Doom Fear Fall and Storm G-Force are off-the shelf carny rides. They'd really only need to alter the names and line queues.

Spider-Man would require a major reworking (I suppose it could have become Transformers easily enough but they already built one of those). It's also my favorite ride at Uni, so I'd be sad to see it go. I think Disney has enough to handle with Star Wars anyway, so why worry about it. Universal pays Disney to use the characters; it's like free money! They can always use Marvel in California and overseas.

I don't see Disney giving Universal money to get them back when the money flows the other way right now.

At some point I can see Universal thinking it just isn't in their interest to keep promoting Disney characters, but that might not be until after they find other franchises besides Harry Potter and Simpsons to carry their parks.

But as for Carsland in Florida? Why? It's in California...why not say DL needs EPCOT? No reason to make them mirror parks. I am excited to hear plans for Star Wars theming, and hopefully some other (better) Pixar movie areas...Cars has always been the weakest Pixar effort in my mind.

Cars Land doesn't make any sense on the east coast. Why have the same thing twice? With Star Wars Land on one coast and Cars Land on the other, it gives the people a reason to visit both parks with completely different experiences. There's a reason I haven't been to Disneyland since I was a kid...it was just not worth the money b/c it was so similar to the parks that I grew up on. But now that Cars Land is there, it gives me a reason to go to California...I feel as it works the same the other way around.

What Disney should do is simply pay Universal the ransom money to allow it to use whatever Universal is not currently using. They probably could never get Spiderman or the Hulk. But the use of some characters on a poster? Disney should pay to get them back. Seems silly to have Iron Man and Thor meet-and-greets in every Disney theme park except WDW.

I have a lot of doubt that Universal is ever going to give those characters up. It doesn't seem likely. Disney is able to make do with what they have, though, and it's working for them. As much as most people would love to see Captain America greet at WDW, I don't think it's likely.

A CM told me that Cars Land is coming to DHS, so take that for what it's worth.

Someone mentioned rain, and that's a good point. RSR in California is constantly breaking down, even when it doesn't rain. The ride is also known to be allergic to rain.

Personally, I would prefer lots of new stuff at DHS. People come from all over the world to visit Cars Land at DLR (I know, I talked to some of them). Keep it unique.

There is a big announcement for a three-phase expansion at the Studios coming in January or February, covering projects up to the WDW 50th anniversary celebration in late 2020. .

This is discouraging. I'll be 76 then. I hope I'm still going to Disney then and continue to be healthy.

Rumor, fact, or joke?

There is a good sized plot of land on the other side of World Drive that is considered suitable for construction, but this is the first time I have heard this rumor. I am pretty skeptical of it.

I often see people dismiss RSR because it's "just like TT", I can only assume these people have not ridden both.

I know this is a tiny detail, but it would be difficult for Disney to build Cars Land at DHS when they basically built Radiator Springs at Art of Animation. I'm sure they could spin it, but I don't think they intend to build the town in a Florida park like it did in Cali. Could pieces show up in a Pixar expansion at DHS? Yup. But a carbon copy seems unlikely.

Cast members know just about as much as we do about that kind of stuff.

Agreed. As much as I would LOVE to see a carsland, I just don't think it will happen. Aside from a friend of mine who predicted NFL, I do find some CMs to be spotty on insider info.

Since Disney owns Marvel, in all likelihood, Universal would have to pay DISNEY money to keep their characters, not the other way around. Besides, Disney would never build a huge coaster like Hulk. It's just not "their way" or "thing".

Also, take a look at copied rides from Disneyland. Teacups at DL is outdoors. Teacups here are covered. We need to cover our rides because of the rain.

The one ride that has been brought into like with Disneyland is the HM. I do find that interesting. We are only missing the Christmas overlay, which I find a huge loss - I would LOVE to see that here!!

I've ridden both. RSR is quite a bit grander, but the ride is basically the same, only longer and slower. I don't feel RSR is needed at WDW when we could get something entirely new. What they really need is one of those trackless "dancing cars" type rides they have overseas (Pooh's Hunny Hunt, Mystic Manor). A Pixar themed one would be great!

Unfortunately, because WDW is a travel destination, they cannot justify having the regular Haunted Mansion closed for so long. In Disneyland, they are catering to mostly locals..in that setting, they get tired of the same thing over and over again, hence the holiday overlays to both Haunted Mansion and Small World. With WDW, it's quite the opposite. Visitors come from all over the country and book very long stays...Most would be upset that the regular Haunted Mansion isn't available between September and February (that's half the year!). So, you won't be seeing the Haunted Mansion overlay anytime soon...or ever really...in Walt Disney World. But that's what makes having two Disney parks in the same country great! You can go to both and get completely separate experiences!!

It just seems Star Wars Land makes the most sense for a DHS expansion...they have been actively looking for properties to bring in boys and teens, SW is a part of the culture that isn't going away anytime soon, the potential for something really amazing with it is huge and, let's not forget, merchandising. Can you imagine? They already do the SW weekends, so that just seems the most natural thing to me.

We had Captain America and Thor meet and greets at Disneyland, as well as Iron Man suits. That was cool. I think Disney would love to incorporate more Marvel at the parks and we will probably see that happen over time, but the rights to the characters are so complicated, it just doesn't seem to make as much sense as SW where they own everything and can do whatever they want.

They have a Marvel kids area on the Magic cruise ship as well. Got to tour it during an open house in October. Iron Man, Hulk and the Captain all represented.

But for anything I think east of the Mississippi regarding theme parks, Universal holds those rights to any Marvel characters that are represented at IOA.

I did the Thor meet at Disneyland...it was cool. You were transported to Asgard (or he was transported to you, forget which it was) to meet him in a throne chamber kind of place. The guy playing him was good, too.

If WDW has the sense to integrate Star Wars into DHS the way Universal has integrated Diagon Alley...it will be HUGE. Just huge.

I hope Cars Land never comes to Florida, personally. Art of Animation is enough. Disney has tons and TONS of properties. More than ever before now. Let Disneyland have it. Keeps it more unique. Lets get something new and exciting in WDW. Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, Indiana Jones, etc.

1. Having a Cars theme at a resort isn't much of an alternative. There is cool theming at a whole host of resorts that I have never stepped foot in. I've never stepped foot in any of the All-Star Resorts, or the Pop Resorts or Art of Animation and doubt I ever will. Nothing against them, but if I'm not staying there, what would compel me to go visit them? A giant bowling pin? Uhhhh...no.

2. Why is it OK to have Indiana Jones in both DL and WDW but not Cars? (I'd love to see Temple of Doom at WDW!) For all the talk of "uniqueness" between the parks, let's be honest. There are far more "overlaps" than there are "unique to one park" rides.

Don't mind having Cars at WDW at all. Just not as a carbon copy of what is already at Disneyland. A Cars ride, sure, but make it a different one than Disneyland has. Already got the carbon copy with the Little Mermaid ride.

There will be a lot of room to add a Cars-Land type area when Streets of America is relocated to the west side of World Drive.

Do you have a source?

Carsland ain't happening in Florida. A cars ride is more likely. A Pixar place expansion will also most likely happen. With attractions from toy story land in Hong Kong and Paris, and some retheming of attractions from other places. A woody themed maters junkyard jamboree will most likely be coming and a expansion of toy story mania is already underway. The Pixar expansion will take place in the backlot area and then star wars will over take echo lake. Star Wars will be a while before we see that more like 2020. The expansion across the street was a rumor a long time ago most likely not happening. Disney would much rather keep cars in California as a draw there.

WDW a has a version of Indiana jones it's called dinosaur they use the same ride system just different themes.

Marvel except for smaller lesser known characters can't come to Florida not possible.
