Why is Animal Kingdom so blessed hot?

Always suffered the most with heat in Animal Kingdom. But now just make sure i keep my fluids up and remember to take it a bit easier

OMG Epcot in the ws is the worst! No shade or anything. We went in Aug and it was like walking on the surface of the sun. I almost died walking aroung the WS!
I agree with this! The World Showcase feels much hotter than AK to me.

I think it's the lack of air-conditioning compared to the other parks. Example The new Harambe area looks nice but what they really needed was to cover that with a dome and pump some AC in. I couldn't believe it when they built that area, which is essentially more QS, without AC. Mistake IMO.

My girl just read an article that AK is hot because it is built in a bowl like hole to control temperature for the animals. Has anyone ever heard this?
All it takes is a look at any mapping program (try Google) to see that this is not correct.

It doesn't get hot in Florida, medium at most. I used to live in Las Vegas, now that is hot. And don't tell me about humidity, low humidity is worse.

All I know is my crotch tends to sweat more when I'm walking around AK than when I'm walking around the other parks. Could be because of the heat, could be because there's more walking. Either way, my downstairs is a sweaty mess when I'm at AK.

:lmao:

I have to laugh. How many people reading this thread will now go to Animal Kingdom thinking "it's going to be hot!" and then walk out saying, "my gosh that was hot!" even though the temps weren't all that "bad". And same with Epcot. We just go to the parks to enjoy ourselves because there's nothing we can do to control the weather. If we get hot at any park, we just slow down and take a break, drink more water, and do our own thing.

I only notice it when we run through it for runDisney events. Almost ever time I have done an event that goes through AK (either Wine and Dine half or the Everest 5K) it feels so much hotter than the other parks. It could just be a psychological thing from the mileage into the race at that point but it always feels so hot and sticky.

I agree that it seems hotter (have heard the bowl thing but not sure if true).

Last may was unseasonably hot for a few days we were there and AK was unbearable for us. The hugest recorded temps were on our HS day but AK felt SO MUCH worse. The heat at WS doesn't bother me (and my fair skin) so much but the sun beating down is killer!!

I was at AK today...not hot! Under that darn tree at noon, everyone was shivering. I'm not sure if that holding area had AC on irreoniously, or if it was just a cave like effect from the cold night, but brr!

Laughably, we went to AK today thinking it would live up to its warm reputation.

Uh...Animal Kingdom...not so hot. World Showcase on a hot August afternoon...hotter than the sun. I've always felt that Epcot is the hottest park around, hands down.

Animal Kingdom...lots of shade and cool little nooks and crannies in which to escape.

The only area of AK that I have a hard time with the heat is in DinoLand that blacktop is like a frying pan. My kids like all the rides in that area so i suck it up and I also feel like that area is really lacking in benches.

We were there last October, the only park I felt sick from the heat was AK. I think the lack of real cooling spots makes the difference.
