Why I Hate Starbucks...

Starbucks has really good tea. I adore their chai lattes more than just about anything else edible. ;)

By the way, I don't drink coffee either but I do like chocolate.

I used to have a wicked Starbucks habit. My coffee is $4.65 per cup when I go there. I have cut back so I have more money for my Disney habit. Now DH and I buy Starbucks coffee in the 2.5 pound bags and brew copious amounts of it at home every day.

I absolutely adore Starbucks. I love the way it looks, the way it smells, the fun people who work there, their commitment to community and AIDS charities, the COFFEE!! I am quite the devoted Starbucks fan.

But for people who don't drink coffee I can see how the attraction might be somewhat diminished. ;)

Wow! It's obvious that I'm nowhere near sophisticated enough to order in a Starbucks! :sad2: :rotfl2:

OK what I want to know is there a secret web site that gives you the correct ways to pace an order...how do you even know what to say to get what you want? I have no clue what a wenti skinny quad shot mini mocha is...I get the mocha and the whip part...but the rest :confused3

BTW...my DD's just went to Barnes and Nobles to sit around drinking whatever frappe latte thingies they drink and peruse some books while doing it.

Skinny = low fat
Venti - large
Quad Shot - four shots of espresso

A venti skinny quad shot mint mocha with a hit of whip

Translation:

A large, low-fat mint mocha with four shots of espresso and a little bit of whipped cream

I don't understand why so many see Starbucks as expensive... I frequent several local coffee shops and they are ALL the same price.

To add to that, coffee at McDonalds is the SAME price as Starbucks - yet I would argue that Starbucks is much higher quality (though the new brew at Mickey D's isn't as bad anymore).

$1.50 for a regular cup of coffee. Same price as McDonalds.

What's the big deal? If you order some fancy, schmacy latte yeah, it'll be $4. But it's $4 at EVERY coffee shop I've ever been in.

I don't care for coffee ethier.... I dont even like the smell to much :rolleyes2
 But I love non-fat Venti Iced Chai and Passion ice tea with lemonaid

ohhhhnooooooooooooo, not coffee! I've never had a coffee and odn't intend to start now.

I cannot stand the smell. When I was pg, the smell of coffee (even the waitress walking by with the pot in a restaurant) would send me HEAVING!

ick - coffee.

No starbucks for me........................... :thumbsup2

Venti is just one of the sizes Starbucks offers. They have three: Tall, Grande and Venti. Skinny does mean low fat but I always order my chai tea non-fat which I suppose is the same. They just use skim milk instead of their regular milk.

I hear people ordering machiano or whatever it's called. That's some kind of coffee but I have no clue what that means!

large dark roast with cream

$1.80 and enough caffine to keep my morning moving

I'm another non-coffee drinker, I had no idea there were so many of us! :thumbsup2 I thought I was a freak! Everyone I know drinks that fancy coffee! I don't like tea either, I can't stand either one! Blech! I was wondering if I'd find Binny on this thread, she IS a coffee snob!
My dh loves Starbucks so I can say venti skinny mocha no whip, I've ordered it for him several times, sometimes I've made the trip just so he'd turn back into my husband again instead of Mr. Grumpy Pants! :lmao:

I LOVE coffee..love, love it! But Starbuck's has to be some of the nastiest stuff I have ever had. I like the coffee drinks, the chai, and the regular tea...I usually order a tall non-fat iced mocha no whip....DD16 is a Starbuck's junkie and gets a grande iced caramel macchiato....DD12 loves the tea..never coffee....DD2..yes....DD2...gets a chocolate milk, but wants decaf coffee in her milk at home. DH is a FANATIC when it comes to Starbucks..he gets gift cards from there for Christmas...he gets something like a venti black eye with coffee instead of water with breve' and dark chocolate on the bottom. IMO, their plain ol' coffee tastes like something brought up from the bottom of a burning river(okay, makes not much sense, but its true :) ). I'll take good old fashioned diner coffee any day....can't get much better than that.

I think that the reason why their tea is so good is that they always make it with boiling water, not just hot or warm, and that makes a huge difference to the brew.

I think it was a shock to me, Aimeedyan, because I'm not a coffee drinker--I have never (gasp!) even been in a coffee shop of my own volition--I only go when dd or dh insists. I don't know why I was so surprised--I WAS in the airport, land of $20 per person breakfasts. :teeth: But even airports and WDW only charge about $3 or less for Diet Coke.

DH was telling me the other day that he wished I drank coffee because there is a little coffee shop around the corner from our house and we could go there in the mornings and chat. I have NO idea why he thinks this would be fun--there is something about the machines that make it so he cannot hear a word anyone is saying so it's not like there'd be a lot of chatting going on--more like me YELLING every little comment to him so he could hear me and then me giving up and sitting quietly in frustration. He has the same problem in diners.

I'm so glad I started this thread--I had no idea how many fellow non-coffee drinkers there were. Non-Coffee People Unite! :cheer2:

Sitting here drinking my morning Dt. Coke. Life is good.

Hey, me too! One morning as I was digging through the fridge trying to find one I KNEW was in there somewhere--DH told me that I had the look of a heroin addict trying to find their next fix. :lmao: I told him that I'd hide the coffee pot the next day and we could see what kind of drug addict he resembled.

I dont drink coffee or tea so I have to get caffiene from somewhere. In my household, we might run out of milk or bread but never Dt. Coke.... :rotfl2:
