Why I Hate Starbucks...

I am not a coffee drinker at either, but my 2 oldest DD's are. I got a coffee maker for my shower 21 years ago and it has been pulled out maybe once or twice a year...until about 5 years ago when Oldest DD discovered coffee. Now the 2 of them head to Starbucks all the time. they get those latte frappi thingies...(really I have no idea what they get) it's all foreign to me!

May I join the non coffee drinkers club? I detest it but I love to smell it. Im already a member of the non tea drinkers club..... :teeth: I cannot stand the taste and smell of tea.....DOUBLE YUCK! My DH and both DS love sweet tea so I have to make it but I put a close pin on my nose when I do.... :teeth:

I get my caffiene from Dt. Coke and I'm content spending my $1.50. IMHO, if I was going to spend $9 on foo foo stuff, Im going to the Cheesecake factory for a slice of Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake....YUMMY!

Sure, you can join the club!

You know, I did notice that they had some interesting dessert type things in there but I was so stressed out from trying to remember what I was supposed to order that I forgot to check it out. I knew I'd never remember my own fancy dessert and their fancy drinks. Plus, I forgot to take a second mortgage out on the house before I left town for the airport so I'm not sure if I could afford two fancy coffee drinks, one fancy dessert, AND airport parking. :lmao:

Your cracking me up but I do know how you feel. All my friends are coffee drinkers and they adore Starbucks. Im dragged along but I get water. They could at least have something like Dt. Coke available. Is that too much to ask?

OH, MY GOSH--I forgot to tell you all about the poor guy behind me. He was apparently not very good at Italian, either. (Thanks to whoever it was who let me know what language I was actually speaking!) While I was waiting 20 minutes for someone to make the fancy coffee drinks--which I might add, I BELIEVE were simply coffee ice cream with some whipped cream on top--the barristas were mocking the poor man behind me who had apprently put his Italian tenses in the wrong order and made some horrific coffee ordering mistake. He got this real panicky look on his face and then just started saying all the words on the menu in the hopes that SOMETHING would be right and they'd give him something coffee-ish to drink. His daughter looked disgusted but I noticed that SHE was not assisting in any way. I think he probably got roped into doing the coffee-ordering for his teenage kid, too.

One of the barristas actually told the other one, "Well, if he doesn't know what he wants, it's HIS mistake, not yours."

Well, how the heck would he know what he wanted if he didn't speak Italian? :lmao: I don't think anybody who orders really knows if they have the correct thing or not when they leave--they just take what they get and consider themselves lucky.

Except our pal, Dan Murphy, who gets a small, black coffee off the "secret" Starbucks menu. :teeth:

:thumbsup2 Another lost twin, or what is it up to now, septuplet? I can't stand coffee -- the taste nor the smell. I avoid the local Barnes & Noble store, because the entire store reeks of coffee. All the other bookstores seem to be able to contain the smell near the coffeeshop, but not B&N!

I occasionally get a Chai Tea at Starbucks, but even that is too frothy for me. I can make it better myself.

One thing I like about a Starbucks store is it smells like coffee, not a perfume store, like all the other coffee shops. If they add a flavor (I can't stand flavors), they add some sugar syrup, thereby not making the place stink like a perfume store when all the various flavors are being brewed, yuck. If I have to go in a convenience store; 7-11, White Hen, etc, I am almost nauseated by the stink.
Boy, I'm with you on this one. I especially hate the smell of hazelnut. If I walk into a coffee shop that's brewing hazelnut coffee, I turn around and walk right out. Well, I do unless I really, really want a coffee.

Our company cafeteria had that hazelnut smell one morning, and I haven't been back since. There's a Starbuck's right next to our building, and plenty or restaurants around us. I literally have not set foot in our cafeteria since the hazelnut incident.

There is a Starbucks in our Target store!!! At Christmas when shopping at Target w/ DH I went off to grab a cart - he says I'm thirsty and going to grab a bottle of water. (Neither of us drink coffee either.) As he walks away I yell, "Don't you dare get a bottle of water at Starbucks, it will cost $7!" I noticed a few people around me chuckle about it and then we went together to find the Target snack bar and buy a 99 cent bottle 'venti' sized bottle of water.
In my younger days I worked in an office my boss was hosting a meeting and felt it would be my duty to make them some coffee. I asked how many he was expecting. He said 8 people so I figured that must mean you need 8 scoops of coffee. (Again, I don't drink or make coffee.) Needless to say no one drank that sludge and he never asked me to make coffee again.

I use a similar strategy when DW asks me to do laundry.

If it had been up to me, dd would never have tasted it but she spent the night with a friend and the girl's grandmother gave the kids coffee mixed with milk--I have no idea what the woman was thinking because who would give a houseful of kids COFFEE--I'd be giving them all Benadryl, myself (not really!)QUOTE]

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

BTW, besides my dad, I'm the only one I know who doesn't drink coffee. Oddly enough, I love how it smells though. :confused3

When I found out how much DD was spending at Starbucks on campus, I asked her if she'd completely lost her mind (but that chocolate chip cookie she brought me was incredible  )!

I love coffee. I gave it up for lent. I'm crabby. Nuff said :darth:

I feel like I dont even KNOW you people anymore :(

not like Starbucks?????

Starbucks is like the mother ship!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am a coffee freak. Truly. a Snob and a freak. I love it. Would prefer it in an IV most days. not like coffee... I just dont get it.... :confused3

:lmao: :lmao:

On another board my tag says " Instant Human, just add coffee" sadly its the truest statement ever made about me.

Aaarrggghhh! You speak the secret coffee language! Want to go to the airport with me this weekend? :lmao:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

psssttt... theres a secret handshake too but I'm not supposed to tell you that.

I detest coffee and anything coffee flavored

AND

Hot chocolate. BLEK!

I do like the smell of a good coffee bean--but the idea of consuming it and that nasty taste on my taste buds just makes me shudder.

I also do not do Mocha ice creams (or any other concoction they feel the need to do mocha or espresso flavor), Tiramisu (seriously--coffee grounds as dessert???), or Kalua (go have a Irish coffee for pete's sake!).

It is disgusting and vile and worse than tasting coffee are those who assure me they used to hate coffee and one day had it for whatever reason and now love it or can't live without it.

Coffee haters UNITE--I am not falling for that fib. LOL!

I do drink tea--my British ancestors would have my head. Earl Grey (sp?) is my fave--as well as teh berry teas. My preference is decaf.

Chocoloate flavored teas (chai) are disgusting as is Lipton and Nestea. That is not "real" tea. ;)

:lmao: Come on, tell us how you really feel! Is there really coffee grounds in tiramisu? No wonder I don't like it!

i am addicted to espresso, and that usually means starbucks since i don't have my own espresso machine...

i am going to university of maryland in the fall and my first priority when on campus recently was to locate the starbucks closest to my department. :rotfl:
