Why go to Hollywood Studios now?

We love ToT and TSMM... I also loved me some carrot cake cookie from the Writers Stop but my fiance just read its closing >:( where on earth will I get my carrot cake cookie now!

To me, part of the fun of going to DHS in the next few months/years is seeing the progress of construction and change in the park! After seeing how the park has been the past few years, it's very exciting to see how the park will change.

Of course while there I'd have to ride my favorites (ToT, TSMM, RnR). But, I would only do so if I had a park hopper. I couldn't see spending the money for the amount open.

Since the park won't be offering as much for the next few years, the crowds could possibly become lighter?

We were there in December because there was enough open then to interest us, but I agree. I think it really won't be worth it to us to go for a while now until they start opening up new stuff to make up for stuff that will soon close.

As for extra days not being much more on 5 days plus tickets, I think the real thing to look at is the average of what you pay per day, that's the real cost

It won't be a park we visit for a while, but that's because of our family set-up. DS is 3; he's kind of outgrowing the Disney Junior stuff, but he's too small for Tower of Terror, Rock'n'Rollercoaster, or Star Tours. We're not Star Wars fans either, and now LMA is closing (literally DS's favorite thing in all of Disney!) there's not much draw for us there. But other people have their reasons to go, and we'll just spend more time at the other parks. Our favorite is Animal Kingdom, and I know not everyone loves that.

I haven't been to Hollywood Studios in the past few trips I've made to WDW.

It really doesn't interest me.

With all of the impending closures and construction slated for Hollywood Studios, why pay the exorbitant price to get in for arguably 5ish attractions, 4 shows that have not been updated for the better part of a decade or more, and some mediocre restaurants (Not Brown Derby)? If my favorite attraction wasn't Tower of Terror, I wouldn't even think twice about skipping this park. We are even staying at Beach Club and I don't want to spend the time, money, or effort to trek over there. I'm curious, what do you guys still enjoy about the park? Or have you reached the breaking point like me?

Many folks use a multi-day pass so that it isn't costing them $100 to get in.

As to why go?

I have a thing for broken elevators as well.

My "breaking point" was when they shut down the backlot tour.
Our last visit was a half day. I still like the park. But they were long past the days of blowing a single day ticket there. But the other attractions they do have are pretty good even for a half day: RNR, Star Tours, and even GMR.

DHS does seem to me a bit sparse at this time. I much enjoyed Characterpalooza the one time I got to attend it, but I heard it's now at random and unpredictable locations and times, which is sad since that (intentionally, according to some) makes it hard to find.

I'd still go for TSMM, TGMM, and Sci Fi Dine In, but I wish there was more in that park to interest me. Not a Star Wars fan either, although the fireworks show would probably be good anyway.

Bummer, I hadn't tried the carrot cake cookie and had hoped to find it on my next trip. When exactly is Writers' Stop closing?

I feel this way about all the parks right now except MK. We would not be making another trip soon, if not for one more trip on our APs. After that, it will be a few years while waiting on most of the construction to finish.

It is a half day park to me. On Day three of the trip, I'm going to a morning there probably before I celebrate Mom's Birthday with her at Morimoto's Asia. I won't be going again for three years or so because of the massive construction at DHS. I enjoy the park and want to see Star Tours, GMR and Launch Bay. Launch Bay is probably going to be an hour between Chewbacca, Kylo Ren and First Order Stormtroopers.

Just looked it up, it is scheduled to close April 2nd with all the other things that are closing on the back lot, LMA and Studio Catering and Monsters Inc meet and greet.

I hadn't heard about this. What a shame. We liked to stop in there.

I haven't been to HS in a few trips because it isn't really worth the trip for me. I LOVE ToT and RnR, but I am willing to wait until the expansion is more completely finished before heading over. I did want to see the fireworks last week, but oh well another trip. :)

Thanks for the info. Too bad, I'll just miss it, as I arrive on April 8.

No plans for the carrot cake cookie to return in the future, either there or somewhere else?

We really enjoy TSM,RNRC, and TOT. These are enough of a reason for us to go. However, this is why I think hoppers are so worth it. Other than MK I don't think the parks are great for all day really. Yeah, you could spend a whole day and keep busy, but I'd rather spend two half days getting to ride the headliners at multiple parks in the same day with little waits (early for one FP the other).

I will admit that I loved it a lot more before they cut a lot of things (SWW, Mulch, Sweat and Shears, Animation Academy etc.) but I still really enjoy the park. I always have fun going on Star Tours and making ridiculous ride photos on Tower of Terror and seeing the different shows doesn't get old for me. One of my favorite restaurants on property is 50s Prime Time and we go there often to see our favorite server. I also love meeting Chewbacca and Darth Vader. :)

For us, DHS is a relaxed day and if I didn't have an annual pass, I probably wouldn't want to pay extra for it.

We didn't do hoppers for this next trip so HS is up in the air for us. Waste of a ticket?? IDK. We probably won't do RRC or TOT since the kids can't ride. Hoping to get FPs for Toy Story, Star Wars and ?? so we can sleep late, swim then go to HS. Looking to do FPs and Disney Jr, Frozen, and Mermaid, then catch Fantasmic and fireworks. I think that's all doable without rope drop?

I think even Disney sort of acknowledged how they feel about this park. The college program is having a homecoming this weekend and had scheduled an evening event in that park. About a week and a half ago they changed the event to Animal Kingdom Park.

We still love it... My teens love Star Tours, RnR, ToT... And my two year old loves Disney Jr... We love the theming of the stores...it's our family favorite!

Well our biggest draw is that I cannot miss Fantasmic when we are at WDW. It's our all time favorite of the evening shows. We like to ride TSM at least a couple times as it's also a family favorite. We love the shows and can easily watch them every trip we go. My kids are still young so they enjoy the Disney Junior show still as well as all of the others. ODS rides RnR and all of the kids will likely want to try Star Tours next trip. We like the Great Movie Ride, we LOVE Beauty and the Beast. They may or may not wish to try ToT I'm not sure, but we've never done it before. Jedi Training and the Star Wars M&G will be huge for my boys next trip as well.

We were there in May and spent an entire day at HS and had a blast. Certainly didn't even do everything so the loss of one or two more attractions doesn't phase us. Still plenty to see and do.
