Why don't you go someplace else!!!

My standard response for those who are trying to rain on my disney parade is, "When you start paying for my vacations you can choose the location". Works like a charm every time. :thumbsup2

Oh I get this too. People get that glazed look and *pity* me as if I've lost the plot :)

A friend of ours made the 'Florida/Disney again....how many times is that now' comment....... he's off to Turkey for the 4th year running this year....to the same hotel....errr HELLO!!!!

Still - the more people who don't get 'it' the better in my opinion.....the lines will be shorter and we can eat where we like :)

Hey we are an amusement park family! My kids ( 3 teens) have a choice each year on where to go on vacation and they always choose amusement parks. Since they were little we have been traveling to amusement parks all over the country because it's what they love to do. This is our first trip to WDW and if they love it, it won't be our last. Who cares what other people think of your family travel plans? It's your family and your vacation and you know what's going to make them happy!

You know, I should just put this quote in my siggy. So many people here, including me, face these types of comments, I think it would help all of us to keep it in mind.
"Disney. To those that get it, no explanation necessary. To those that don't, no explanation possible"

I think people who do not get it, did not plan well when they went to WDW.
I'm called a Disney Freak by many. When I think of sitting on a beach I think boring!

DD18 made me feel great. She said her friends were saying what a bad time WDW was for thier familys. Fighting over where to go & what to eat .ect. She told them. Not with my Mom. She has it all planned out & we follow her like little Ducks! We have never had a fight on a WDW trip!

We are planning our 2nd trip...and have already gotten quite a few people asking why we are going again. I can only imagine how all you Disney veterans feel

I am a proud Disney freak too! I started going in 1975 and lost count of how many times I have gone, just since December 2004 we went 5 times and guess what, yesterday I booked our trip for this upcoming Easter Vacation in April. My family and friends always comment about why we don't go somewhere else. My kids (21 and 16) have gone since their born, we have so many wonderful memories together, alot of people just don't get it! We love Disney so much we bought into the Disney Vacation club about 5 years ago and took it one step further, we just built a house 2 miles away from the Magic Kingdom!

 Another proud disney freak here!

I get this from my folks and friends and DH (he goes a,long but doesnt get my obsession) I just tell everyone it is my Happy Place ! Some people love to cruise or party but I love to go to Disney. Heck I would go more if we had more money! :wizard:

I love WDW and intend to go back numerous times in my life (I'm already planning for next year), and it is no one elses business over where I go. I adore the place!

Saying that, it seems like in the US the only place that you vacation is... in the US! I must admit that, personally, the only thing that draws me to America is WDW (although we're probably going to go to NY one day), and if I lived there I would probably only go to WDW for my vacations (or at least the vast majority of them).

Saying that, I have every intention of seeing other places in the world (I've already seen a lot of Europe and some of Africa), such as the Pyramids, Rome (again), Great Wall of China, NZ, etc.

It is your vacation and your money. That being said I do like to do something new alot of the time.

I will NOT jump to conclusions based on a short statement on a message board...

I will NOT be so sensitive in the future...

Now I'll get off the internet and write that 100 times each. :thumbsup2

*will clarify her posts better in the future!*

[please, anyone reading who read my previous post, please be aware that I was not bashing America/American's, just saying that I have no personal interest in seeing most of America (and I'm sure many people have little/no personal interest in seeing lots of the things that I want to see) - although my parents are about to go on their 4th trip! - and have been given the impression that American people vacation mostly in the US due to the fact that that was the response I was given when I asked why many Americans do not have passports!]

:thumbsup2 :sunny: :wizard:

We were at a family party yesterday and my sil asked me "when are you going back to florida?", but she said it in a sarcastic, joking way, so I said "we're going back in august".. That shut her right up.... Then her and her husband said, oh we're not going there for a loooong time, we've got a lot of work to do on our house. Then my DH piped in and said, "well we're selling our home, buying another, and still able to go to wdw!!" I was shocked since he really doesn't get sarcastic w/his family.... Disney sucked my DH in, although he'll never admit to it!!!

We hear that from our families too!

I get the same thing. I just smile mysteriously and say "It's just not something you'll ever understand." ;)

Well, on a Disney message board, generally you are going to hear about things Disney. ;)

I do like ot vacation elsewhere in my country too, and have, and will continue to do so.

I have also vacationed elsewhere in the world in the past, and am planning a trip to Italy as we speak, leaving in April.

It's unfortunate that you are not aware of the many things America has to offer to a traveller other than the more touristy spots. We have some beautiful scenery, some of which could rival anything you could find in another country, wonderful people, and marvelous traditions. We are not as old of a country as some others, so you won't find things like the Colosseum, but we've packed a lot of living into our 200 or so years.

One of my travel dreams is to take a driving tour of the USA, when I have the time to really wander,s top where I want, see what I want and do my thing.

Maybe when DH & retire.

I'm not unaware, just not interested :confused3 (I'm really not trying to offend anyone - I'm sure many people aren't interested in the UK either!).

I know just how you feel. I'm so tired of people telling me I should go on a cruise or go to Europe. Hello, I AM NEVER LEAVING THIS COUNTRY!!!

We don't even have kids; we have been to the Beach Club at least 20 times in the past 12 years!!

Let them all go somewhere else; more room for us in Storm Along Bay!! :thumbsup2
