Why don't my clothes wash themselves?

They do at home. I just put them in the laundry basket... or next to my bed (whatever) and they pick themselves up and work their way into the washer, dryer, fold themselves and hop into my drawer ready for the next cycle.

Last year my wife had the nerve to get me to the do the family's laundry at WDW. We were at CSR and I did maybe 3 or 4 loads one night...

All kidding aside (she does 80% of the laundry at home) it's a royal pain to take an evening to do laundry at WDW... but w/ 5 people for 9 nights we really have to or it's just too much to bring. We seem to kind of go through clothes. The good news is you can do it all at once... I mean wash multiple loads and dry multiple loads. We can't do that at home.

Just curious who does laundry @ WDW and if any other men step up to the plate and give her a break!?! (I doubt I'm going to get sypathy here!!! lol)

Looking forward to responses :)

I've only done laundry at WDW twice. My DH occupies the kids/teens in the pool so I can get it done quickly. I don't think I would trust my DH to do laundry, even at home. He's allowed to match socks and fold the towels.:lmao:

I do laundry at WDW. When the whole family used to go, there's 7 of us, doing laundry was a necessity. Forturnately we're DVC members and then/now we have a washer and dryer in the room.

Now that it's usually only the two of us, I still do the laundry. I hate coming home with dirty clothes. DH does not do the laundry on vacation.

However, at home it's different. About 4 or 5 years ago my DH started taking all of his clothes, except his underwear, socks and summer shorts to the dry cleaner. Not sure why he started doing this, but I certainly wasn't going to complain. Then he started washing his own underwear, socks and shorts. One Saturday morning when he put the washer on I told him there was no need for him to do this. I always did it before (we're married 37 years) and I can still do it. He said that whenever I (me, the wife) does it he never gets it all back, socks are missing........ Hey, I'm no dummy, I don't need to be told twice. I said, Oh, Sorry and that was the end of the conversation.

So, to answer your question, I, the wife, do laundry on vacation. DH does his laundry at home because he's stubborn and won't say that he really wants me to do it again.

I end up doing the laundry on vacation. My DW has good intentions, but with all of us so busy during the day, she and the kids end up going to bed and I get to head out to get the laundry done - it works for us, cause they get to sleep and be rested for another busy day and since I don't go to sleep as early, i can get the laundry done and have a beer or 3 while i wait.

While we're at WDW DH does his laundry and I do mine. Don't know why, since at home I do everyone's. It's not the laundry that won't wash itself that I mind so much, it's those darn bathrooms that won't self clean!

Hey...just go in July or August and those daily torrential downpours can take care of this for you!!! :teeth:

There must be some sorta magic at WDW because NOT only does my hubby help with the laundry - at home he doesn't even know where the washer is... but last trip the kids took the laundry and did it all without me! Gotta love Disney!!! :goodvibes

We do laundry all the time at WDW, but I'm the one usually doing it. But we stay in a DVC one bedroom villa, so we have a washer and dryer in the room. Ahhh, convenience. Put a load in at night and toss it in the dryer before bed. Or put on a load in before you leave for the parks and toss it in the dryer when you get back.

I usually do at least 2 loads on our "rest" day which is generally planned for the middle of our trip. We are a family of 3 and go for 9 nights, 10 days. I go through two outfits a day so I have to do laundry...it would be too much to pack. Now before your jaw drops let me explain why I go through two outfits a day. In '06 I lost a large amount of weight (thank you Weight Watchers) and we go to see the Mouse in mid-March. So I wear short sleeves and shorts in the day but by about dinner time I have to change into long sleeves and pants for the evening or I freeze!
DH has done the laundry at home for years...he doesn't like how I fold. But in May I quit my job to stay home and now I do the laundry. But on Vacation I always do the laundry!

well you can always do what someone near suggested...

go to the laundry room closes to the bar.

so you can have you a drink - do some relaxing - read a paper or watch TV - most of the laundry room seem to have TV these days.

while your poor wife watches the kids.

:lmao:

Seriously, my DW and I sort of split laundry duties at home. (To be honest it's probably closer to 60/40 with her doing the 60) Last time at WDW she did the laundry while I took the kids to the pool. I offered but she was much happier with a break from activities. :faint: Anyway, next trip I'm going to copy Cowboysfan and do the laundry while the rest of the gang sleeps. This way, the DW can still get her break and not have to do laundry during it!

The other thing is on arrival day I like to get all the clothes together and ironed...

Mom is the artist that puts the outfits all together... but I do the ironing. That saves a lot of time in the mornings when everybody's clothes are ready and put together. Then at night we can put them out, she can pick out the right socks or whatever and shoes and put them w/ the kids' clothes. Wake up, shower, get dressed and go.

At home it amazes me how long it takes getting ready. I hate to do that on VACA. It drives me crazy. I wake up at 6:00 and go out for a walk usually, but I'm just dying to wake everybody up to get ready... but alas the parks don't open until 9 usually. We are never there for rope-drop.

We go, planning to do laundry. I have the kids back only 3 changes of eveything and they carry their own luggage. But, we are DVC members, so we have a free washer/dryer. The best part is that there are no lost suitcases by the airlines, and we don't have to wait at the carosel for the suitcases.
