Why doesn't Disneyland have BBB but instead have Libby Lu?

I just thought that they would have more of a BBB style thing versus Libby Lu. DD did the BBB just this past May 08 and LOVED it! We are planning on Disneyland next year 2009 and I was trying to checkout youtube videos of Libby Lu and it just doesn't have that same Disney magic as BBB. Now I might be wrong because I've never been there. If anyone can provide some feedback, pics, etc., I would appreciate it. Thanks! We have a place called Club Tabby at our local mall that looks similar to Libby Lu so that is why I'm not sure how much more special this Libby Lu is???

You might visit the DL board to get better responses, but I thought they had added one inside the park in the Fantasyland Theater.

It's not a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. It's the Princess Fantasy Faire, a huge meet and greet area for the princesses (and the occasional prince). They do sell princess dresses and offer face painting and hair braiding there, but it's not a complete makeover service like at the BBB.

I've moved this thread to the Disneyland forum. Perhaps somebody here might know more. :)

My theory is that Libby Lu was there before BBB was around and they probably signed a contract with Libby Lu for x amount of years so they can't just boot them out. And maybe they can't open a BBB to create competition.

Maybe Libby Lu is privately owned?

I am not sure how accurate this is. I heard that because the space they are using does not have proper water or whatever else is needed to get a permit as a "hair salon". So they do hair braiding and face painting but not a "makeover".
We have been to the Libby Lu at Downtown Disney and it is very crowded. You can call and make a reservation but must pre-pay.

Although it seems like the hair braiding they do at the PFF falls out very easily and cost about the same as a "makeover" with the goody bag at Libby Lu.

I took my DD8 and her BF10 to Libby Lu for my kid's birthday. I had shopped out the prices and found LL to be far less expensive. An updo at PFF with just the hair was 30, a package involving makeup and a tiara, maybe face painting was $62!!

At LL I paid $25/girl for hairdo (includes tiara), little make up kit, nails with glitter, then a trip to the treasure aisle, a pretty large selection of little junky little stuff that girls love. They got to pick 5 items and were given a logo drawstring backpack to put the goodies in it.

It seems a lot more teeny-bopper than PFF, but the girls were delighted.

Libby Lu is a chain, they have a website that will give you more info and other locations!!!

Oh, and by the by, I liked the BBB in WDW a lot better!!! My DD8 said they were equal!!!

Hope this helps!!
