Why do you pick your resort?

We base it on price and where we want to be.

We like the moderates, but found out the CBR was way too big for our liking. We tried POR and found that to be a favorite.

We then wanted to try deluxe so we stayed at BW. While it was a great room and was the reason we bought a Stearns and Foster bed :lmao:, we found that we didn't use the amenities that were provided. We always say we are going to do a resort day, but the parks always call our names.

We are now trying out renting DVC points. This will be the first time we are doing this and we will be staying at BLT next June. I'm worried this could become a new addiction.

the things impt to us with small children are:

1. got to fit 5 people. ruled out a lot for us
2. Location- got big strollers love the monorail.
3. Pool- the more exciting the better. Loved the Poly's
4. Food. we loved the food court at POR.
5. We picked BC next time for the theme. It looked wonderful w the Xmas deco
6. Price

Looks like I'm in the minority here, but I really base it on how the resort makes me feel when I step through those doors. We're most at home at the Polynesian. It's relaxed, it's beautiful. I instantly feel at ease when I'm there. I feel like I'm home. When you add on the amenities (pool, restaurants, transportation), it's our most favorite.

I'm all about feel these days, too. I fell in love with AKL at first sight of the Jambo House lobby, and now that I have DVC, the larger part of every trip is spent there. BLT is growing on me a bit, too, partly because I actually like the slick modern feel, but mostly for location. It's really nice to have easy access to all the restaurants (and bars :drinking1 ) of the monorail loop, plus WL.

Before DVC, it was all about price, and I stayed at POP.

That'w How I feel staying at GFla! Yes, to some extent we use the resort. But it's almost not enough time spent there for the price.

What is it about a resort that makes you want to stay there? And what factors are at play when you decide?

I'm working on branching out into new resorts and I'm just wondering:

Why do you pick your resorts the way you do?

We choose our resort based on theming/coolness, restaurants & amenities, location, and the beds/bedding. We don't take big vacations very often, so we don't really factor cost of the resort into our decision. So far we have only chosen deluxe resorts, so we just assume our vacation is going to cost around X amount each time & we save up for it. We did get free dining this time, so we decided to fly instead of drive for which I am VERY thankful.

I picked CBR because of pricing and the pool. The kids love to go swimming...and CBR had the best pool among the Moderate Priced Resorts. I am sure that the other Deluxe resorts have better pools...but I don't want to spend more $$$ than I have to.

We always pick our resort based on the kind of trip we want, the time of year, or any special occasions.

Our first trip onsite was in the Toy Story section of All Star Movies. My boys, 2 and 4 at the time, were huge Toy Story fans. No other resort would have done for that trip. A few years later we went back with my brother and his kids, who were also into Toy Story, and they insisted we had to stay at "the toy story hotel" again.

One year my boys and nephews were really into pirates. We stayed in the new pirate rooms at CBR, did the pirate adventure from CBR, even made them matching Mickey pirate tshirts for that trip.

If we are visiting in the summer we'd like a more tropical resort, like CBR or the Poly, or a great pool like at BC/YC.

If we visit during the holidays there is no place like WL.

When we travel for a birthday the birthday person gets to pick which resort we stay in.

If we ever get around to visiting during food and wine I can't imagine we'd stay any where other than the Epcot resort area.

We are trying to one day stay at them all, so we usually do a split stay. We pick a resort for the main part of our stay based on time of year, then we'll pick a new resort just for fun for a night or two, usually to add on to the end of our trips.

Budget and transportation are the 2 biggest reasons I stay mostly at Pop Century.

#1 - I can go more often if I do budget trips, so I have to choose from a Value
#2 - I like the fact that Pop has always had its own bus. Now that will change with the addition of Art of Animation.

As DVC members we base it on what our favorite is - BCV. Best location for us, great pool, perfect place to get coffee in am -Marketplace. We've tried other Deluxes but they didn't compare.
If BCV is not available - we pick based on easiest/best transportation, especially since we now have a little one to think about. I'd rather not have to wait for busses in the heat or at the end of the night with an infant and stroller in tow.:crowded:

We look at the room first. Layout, size, amenities.
Then which resorts offer the style of room we want for that trip.

We always want a living area and some sort of cooking setup, so we're restricted to villas, cabin and family suites.

Then we look at location and what parks we'll spend the most time in.
