Why do the English wear hats on their foreheads?

Is it just for "fancy" occasions, or on a day-to-day basis?

I am curious, and this post is not meant to be offensive.

:confused3

I would like to know the history too! This is the hat that caught my eye this morning - I actually hit re-wind when she came into view.

Yes, those are Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, two other hats worn on the front like that were worn by Victoria Beckham and Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, (sorry dont know how to post pics!) Im in England and I can honestly say I havent seen hats worn like that until today!

They're called "fascinators" and I think they're the stupidest trend ever. Can you imagine how you're going to feel in the future, looking at photos from a major event and seeing yourself with that ridiculous thing perched on your forehead?

Apparently, a lot of these fascinators were designed by Philip Treacy... http://www.philiptreacy.co.uk/ Interesting, to say the least! What's amusing is that they are worn with like a headband to hold it in place..... Well, this is one trend I hope doesn't make it to the states! LOL

Had to look up Victoria too. After getting over the hat I looked at her shoes! Wow!

Okay, those two hats are making me :rotfl:

Some of them were just plain strange. I don't get it. At all.

My 11 year old daughter thought the one on the right...I think that's Eugenie??....was Lady Gaga. :rotfl: I guess it makes sense for her to be at the wedding, she is a Lady after all!

Fascinators should be worn on the side of your head, toward the front and on an angle. “Never in the centre,” says Karyn Gingras, owner and designer at Lilliput Hats in Toronto's Little Italy. Ms. Gingras, whose handiwork will adorn heads in Westminster Abbey this Friday, says fascinators should generally perch slightly above the brow, though when netting is involved, it's okay to let it drape seductively over one eye

Looks like someone forgot to clue these ladies in:eek: Love the Cindy Lou Who one worn by Fergie's daughter. WHoever told her she looked stylish needs to lose their job ASAP!

I think it looks ridiculous. And, I'm sorry, but the two princesses looked terrible! It's like they tried to make themselves look bad. That blue dress is one of the ugliest, dowdiest dresses I've ever seen and the other is almost as bad.

My first thought was a cross between Lady gaga and Cindy Loo Hoo. :thumbsup2

Look at how deformed her foot is. :scared: She always looks like she's sucking on a lemon. Didn't like her dress, either. There are very fashionable, stylish maternity evening clothes.

A shapeless blue sack isn't one of them.

Someone may have said this already.. but of you look at the pics of the shoes she had on.. that may explain why she looks miserable.. :rotfl::rotfl:

Dresses, headgear, makeup... all horrible! Those girls really needed a stylist today (and they had one, it's time to get a new one)!

Ohhh my her foot looks so painful in that position - that MUST be why she never smiles. That girl needs some sensible shoes!:rotfl:
