Why do so many people not like Ellen's Universe of Energy??

Quite often on the DIS I hear people saying how lame or boring Ellen's Universe of Energy is? While it's not my absolute favourite thing to do in Epcot, it is nonetheless one of my favourites. I find Ellen's humour really adds to the attraction. Just curious why so many people don't like it??

It's not my favorite either, but it was still mildly amusing. And you can sit down in air conditioning. A big bonus when you go in summer. ;) I think it's the whole educational aspect. Some people just don't want to be educated on vacation, no matter how cute they make it.

My entire family loves it from my 4 y/o to my parents ,who are in their late 70's.

I think it's that last movie after the dinosaur part. It just gets a bit.......long. We always see it and enjoy it, but wouldn't mind if the last movie were about half as long. :)

Who knows.. homophobia? All I know is that is far better than the boring thing it used to be! First time I thought it was a big waste of attraction space

I never cared much for Ellen, but I find her very entertaining in that attraction. There was a rumor that she would be replaced(by Drew Carey I think).

though not a fan of ellen, i really never found her that funny, but i did enjoy her in the -universe of energy. i found it to be a enjoyable time, any way to tget out of the heat and into air condition is enjoyable, but i hope its still up and running next time i go, and with bill nye the science guy in it, how could you not love it

Not a big fan of Universe of Energy. Just not incredably fond of Ellen's humor I supose. The dinosaur segement is ok, but doesn't seems dated compared to the higher tech dinosaurs at AK. Also the fact that it's 45 minutes long doesn't help. All in all, it's pretty near the top of my skippable attractions list.

I don't really care for Ellen, but I do enjoy that attraction. For me, the worst part is the volume. Some segments of the show are just TOO LOUD!!! Although other WDW attractions have some loud parts, this is one where I find myself putting my fingers in my ears when I know they're coming. It gets so loud that its uncomfortable. That's probably not why others dislike it, but that does it for me. *L*

While not on my "must see" list, I do enjoy it so much more than the original version. In fact the first time my family saw the original in the '80's we all fell asleep. Definitely an improvement.

I like it but I wish that it weren't quite so long. I like Ellen and Bill Nye and the dinosaurs. But it does cut out quite a big hunk of the day since we always seem to arrive right after a show has started.

I agree with the others who said it's just too long, particularly at the end. It is a nice way to beat the heat, though.

Love it - practically the best attraction at Epcot. Yes, perhaps too long for small children though

We went to see it on our first trip. I'll never go again. For one thing, some of the motion got me a little queasy. The other thing, and major thing, is that the whole "educational ride" is not correct, in my opinion. I got the definite Big Bang view on how the world started. That is not what I believe. I believe in creation and am a Christian. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fanatic. I just simply have my beliefs, and I was bothered by the fact that Disney was passing theirs off as fact. Maybe I looked at the whole thing wrong, but I won't do it again.

Three words:

WAY TOO LOUD!! I had to cover my ears and my DS's ears (do you know how hard that is?!?! LOL!) during that ride. I don't think it's bad, otherwise, but they need to turn the volume waaaay down before we'll ever set foot back on it.

Neither the old version nor the new version ever held a place on my "don't miss" list. The Universe of Energy is one of those attractions that I hit maybe every other trip. However, maybe it's just nostalgia, but I actually preferred the old version. Ellen's type of humor, while fine in small doses, I find to get a bit tedious after a period of time as long as the length of this attraction.

But hey, I still remember rides like The World of Motion and Mr. Toad with a degree of fondness (even though I prefer the rides that replaced them)...Nostalgia can be a strong force! :D

My son who first saw it when he was 5 (He's now 10) and I both like it.

It is on my must see list. It wouldn't be a trip to EPCOT with out seeing Ellen and Bill Nye the Science Guy.

We like it so much that sometimes we go twice before we leave. ;)

So there are a few fans out there. Just remember to go to the right when entering so you wind up on the far right. There's a bench there that you can sit on during the preshow. Most people go in to the left.
At the worst you get to lean against the wall.

My family enjoyed this, Ellen makes me laugh. Dinos aren't as scary as at AK for DS5. We plan to go again.

I dont know why no one like Ellen's Energy Adventure. I love the ride, its so relaxing and its a neat ride!
