Why do people leave their curtains open at night?

So....there are a bunch of "peeping Dis'er Tom's" out there, huh? Glad to see I'm not the only one!! :teeth:

I did forget about this incident till my DH just reminded me....one evening during the summer (of 2002) we were out for a walk & we were just around the block from where we live. This one particular model in our subdivision has a huge window in the bathroom, which is in the front of the house. If you were to see in, you could see a huge jacuzzi tub & the vanity. The shower & commode are behind a half wall. Well, we were walking past this house & the lights were on in this bathroom. The blinds were open & so naturally, I was looking in....WELL, dang...it served me right because all of a sudden out of the half wall, walks out the male homeowner who had just (obviously) gotten out of the shower!! I screamed OMG out loud since I saw him in all his glory :earseek: & my DH just started laughing & told me that I deserved it! He thought I would learn my lesson & not look in anymore. Fat chance! ;)

Have you ever looked through open bedroom curtains and have seen anything "interesting"?

I was staying at a hotel once and across the way was another hotel. One of the rooms had the curtain drawn, and exposed a couple who was getting...um..."interesting!"

LOL Mishetta! But it sounds as though there are lots of peeping Toms out there with you!

Along the front of our house, we have shades on one of our rooms, but we never use them. One has no shades(or window treatment at all...but figuring out how to dress that window is another post, I guess). One is opened and closed each day, and one just stays closed with a blind that lets light through, but blocks vision. I have nothing over the sidelights of our front door looking into the foyer either.

My DH insists on leaving lights on....I like to turn them off when we aren't in a room...so if he's home, everyone can peek into my house. If he's not...sorry Toms...you'll have to peek elsewhere!

:p

On the Disney Cruise while in port, we were next to another ship...I think maybe RCCL Explorer of the Seas...anyway, one ship was just right beside the other in early evening when it was getting a little dark. We were walking along the deck of the Magic and we were looking at the other ship. All of a sudden from the room right across from where we were, a naked person came out of, I guess, the bathroom and into their stateroom. I screamed, my children thought it was hilarious....not sure they laughed because of the naked person or because Mom screamed!:o

Oh my goodness! lol, my bedrooms have curtains and blinds, so sorry, nothing interesting to see there. :p
But I have sheer curtains in my living room, so yes even though they may be closed, you can see in. But there is no big screen tv, just a tv and a fish tank, that you might like.

LOL! When we are checking out homes with open windows at night, DH always sees the people and what they are doing. I'm looking at the paint color on the walls, who cares about what the people are up to, I'm redecorating my house!

I admit, I look too! But I'm looking for decorating ideas. I don't care about what people are doing. I have vertical blinds on my living room window and I don't have them wide open, but I don't close them completely until I'm going to bed. I like to be able to see what's going on outside. My bedroom blinds are usually always closed, even in the daytime.

The curtains are always closed in our bedroom, but never in the living room. It's in the back of the house, anyway, so you Peeping Toms can't see anything from the street. :p And we never put the blinds down after the incident with one of the cats....

None of our curtains in the family room close, I just have valances across the tops and curtains (country type with big ruffles and bows) on the sides. The window facing the road is a large bay window, so anyone driving by can still see in. Doesn't bother me. We live in the country and cars are going fairly fast when they drive by so I'm not worried about them "seeing anything."

I, too, love seeing inside people's homes at night if they leave their curtains open. The ones that shut them tight kinda makes me wonder what they're hiding in there...:scratchin

I'm sure most of you have seen those episodes of Friends with the "ugly naked guy"?

That said, I keep mine closed.

Leave them open , hate to live in a cave.

Steve
