No FOOL-ing around the April 2025 W.I.S.H. Thread

Lots of little things left to do to get ready for hosting Sunday, but my sister isn't arriving until after 3p tomorrow, so I do still have two days. And most of the chores are last minute things anyway, like vacuuming and removing cat hair from chairs etc.

Vacation countdown is at 21 days - woohoo. I'm all set on the clothing front and will do a test pack soon... and practice lifting it over my head, which has me stressed out, because I have to obsess about something, right? A co-worker just came back from a first trip and totally caught the Disney bug; it was fun talking to him about their experiences yesterday.

Happy Easter, or Happy Sunday in Spring if you prefer. Hopefully it is a good one fer everyone.

I understand the stressing over things. I am too short to get my carry on in the overhead bins and have to rely on others to help. The 2 trips I have gone on my own others have been very nice and either put my bag up for me or get it down. Some without even asking. The last 2 DH has been with me so he does it for me.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. We have tons to do this weekend. We are going to visit my grandma this afternoon and DH's tomorrow morning. Then we have to get eggs dyed and deviled eggs made (both families like how I make them so I am the designated person every year for this) as well as all of our normal weekend chores. Sunday we will be going to DH's mom's and then my mom's. So it will be a busy busy weekend but one filled with celebrating and family. Even better both kids don't have to work on Sunday. Both of the restaurants they work at are closed.

Yes, being the little old lady that I am I'm sure someone would help me, I just have to over think it first... just can't help myself.

My Sister is very proud of her deviled eggs and was taken aback when my Neice said she was bringing them this time. I half expect Sis to bring some anyway so there can be an egg-off.

Today was a busy day of running around with DS12 having rehearsal for this afternoon’s service and DS9 getting his headgear removed. He was so exciting and I rewarded him with popcorn.
Tried to dye eggs today. As no one eats hardboiled eggs we get plastic eggs to dye. The PAS color doesn’t work well so we used the dye that came with the eggs and it got EVERYWHERE and took forever to get off little fingers.
Tomorrow will be more craziness with soccer and dance class and cooking and more rehearsals and services I’m already tired thinking about it. Will all be worth it though.

Easter turned out lovely, despite realizing Friday that I was actually sick with a cold not just allergies. My Sister didn't bring deviled eggs but was still on-brand bringing a couple loaves of bread after I had shared that I was making a French toast bake... which is primarily bread. Oh, and she brought juice to go with the juice I was serving. If I was really smart, I'd publish the menu then make something totally different so that we don't end up with duplicates.

Hope everyone had a delightful weekend.

I’m motivated to get back into my normal routine. I enjoyed having lots of time to myself to get things done and also to just be alone. I didn’t hold back on the treats, so it is time to get back to eating healthy and walking enough steps to lose weight.

Church was nice yesterday. My singing voice was giving me trouble as usual, so I sang, “Christ the Lord is Risen Today” in my lower register. I skipped the second hymn entirely because my voice was cracking. By “The Hallelujah Chorus,” I was able to sing my soprano part which I basically have memorized. I lip-read one of the sopranos to follow along and my full voice returned. It was wonderful…such a blessing.

I do the same thing.

Mine is just a very basic recipe. I just make it with mayo, mustard, white vinegar, salt and pepper with paprika on trip. I don't know why everyone raves about it but I will take the win. Plus no one complains that they are lumpy (they are). I can't seem to ever get it smooth. It is the same with my homemade mashed potatoes. It doesn't matter what I do they both have lumps.

In first grade I pretty much dies my hands different colors from dying eggs. My speech teacher was not happy with this and yelled at me to wash it off but it wouldn't come off. I have always been bad about dying my fingers when dying eggs. To this day I still do it.

We had a great weekend. I visited with my grandma on Friday. She started to cry when we got there. It has been a very long few months for her but she never had much time to relax until now. I think grief is finally starting to hit her. We still had a good visit and she is really liking where she is at. She was telling us all the stuff she has been doing.

I debated not doing Jazzercise on Saturday because we had a lot to do but DH said that is not an excuse to not go especially since it is at 9 am. So I did go. They are doing something new because they did research on what women need during perimenopause and menopause so changed the workouts to be more in line with this. It was a great workout but boy am I sore. It was the longest hour of Jazzercise ever.

After Jazzercise we went to visit DH's grandmother. This was the worst we have seen her in a long time. DH has been scanning her pictures and then when we visit he hooks up his computer to her TV and we go through the pictures and tag with who she tells us they are. For the most part she is pretty good at this but Saturday she couldn't even pick out the pictures of herself. She has good days and bad days but she is also not doing anything to keep her mind or body strong. She just wants to sit in her recliner with her lights off and watching Hallmark (only Hallmark). It has been hard to watch her go down hill so fast.

After that we went and got water (we use the 5 gallon water cooler because our water is not great here. THen we went grocery shopping. I rested after I got home for a bit as the morning was catching up to me and then later DD and I colored eggs and I also made a pineapple upside down cake.

Yesterday was just hanging out with family. It was a good day. W did almost get in a car accident on our way to DH's mom's. We were on the highway when a car came into our lane. DH had to lock up the breaks and came to an almost dead stop on the high when going 75mph just to avoid getting in an accident. Thankfully this is a quieter highway and no one was behind us or they would have hit us.

Today I am either going to go to Jazzercise or I am going to run a 5k. I used to do these every month during COVID and I really want to get back to it. I think I can do better now that I know I have asthma and have meds to help.

My focus this week is on taking it easy and getting well. In hindsight the cold was coming on all last week which is why I was feeling so off, and I'm relieved that I am actually sick because it will pass. Plus, I'm thankful to be sick now and not closer to or while on vacation.

As mentioned, yesterday turned out lovely. The apartment held seven people easily and it was so nice to be able to seat everyone in an actual dining room at the dinner table. The food turned out well, well, well enough for me, the non-cook. The "French toast bake" was actually torn up croissants with a cream cheese/milk/egg custard and dollops of orange marmalade... totally decadent.

Motivation this week is to keep focused and not completely zone out. Work is nutty with go-live fast approaching so trying to keep up the momentum.
This afternoon got busy with meetings that ran long so I missed my walk, hoping to get one in tomorrow.
Yesterday was lovely but boy was I tired by the end. We started a smidge later than usual so my niece could be there for dinner so by the time we were finished straightening up it was after 830. DS12 spent most of the day playing with the older cousins, DS9 kept hiding in the living room sneaking candy and DD kept running up to her taller uncles saying “up” so they would lift her up towards the ceiling. When she first got her speech device everyone found it hard to tell her no when she used it, now folks have the same reaction to her verbal speech and boy oh boy does she use that to her advantage.
