Why Did You Join Dvc

My husband is addicted to television. On our first trip there, he was watching the DVC channel. Over and over again. We were having such a good time, he suggested that we talk to DVC to maybe be able to go again in a year or two. Nine years and twenty trips later....

After 40 plus years of vacations that encompased either golf or amusement parks, I finally made it to WDW, and there was no other place on the planet I could possible want to go to after one visit. Joining DVC has now helped to make a yearly trip to WDW possible. :thumbsup2

-We love WDW
-We like deluxe resorts
-We like to spread out our "stuff" and feel at home for a week = DVC! :)

We love WDW and knew we wanted to come back many times. We loved the accomodations after renting from an owner. Lastly, the right deal came along! :teeth:

We took our 2.5 yo boy; the excitement on his face, the tear in my wife's eye (pregnant at the time with our second boy), her comment "we are taking our kids here every year until they refuse to go" and the 2.5 yo actually sleeping at night while traveling and I immediately knew what I was getting my wife for Christmas.

We found ourselves going to WDW every other year but wishing we could go every year. We stayed off property once and vowed never to do it again. We bought DVC for our next trip. Wished we did it sooner.

I really like it because it helps make my husband "make time" for a family vacation. It seems easier for him to take time off knowing he has points to use. :teeth:

We were taking semi-annual WDW vacations and staying in deluxes. The cost of $5000 plus for one trip, put us over the edge and we decided not to put off buying DVC any longer. That was nearly 10 years ago, and our only regret is that we didn't do it back in 1992 when we first heard of it. I guess the person who said it was for deluxe accommodations at yesterday's prices said it best. We virtually purchased deluxe WDW accommodations for life and locked in at 1997 prices. Our dues haven't increased as much as we expected either, so it has been a true win-win situation! Of course, we HAVE changed the number of times we visit and the length of trips since buying in. We now take longer vacations and multiple times a year. Our only challenge now is searching for the best airfare!

Honestly I got tired of PRICE dictating my trips. I was a Code Queen and then Disney changed weeks on codes and I was left with rack rate ressies and had to move my entire vacation around. We like to stay at moderate and deluxe hotels and I wanted to be in control of my vacation.

My only regret was losing my beloved AKL but I met a new gal named SSR who stole my heart  and now guess what my old love is back!!!!

I just like knowing I can go to WDW when I want, in accomodations I want to stay in and no more code chasing!!!

For me DVC is tangible - I have friends who have other timeshares and they give me the whole positives of thier places - but to me if I am going to Orlando I have to be AT WDW. The rest are great but they are *not Disney*

And staying in a hotel room even at WDW is not the same as knowing where I stay is MINE. No more commando do everything or die - we just soak up everything Disney.

We like the atmosphere, accomodations, and flexibility built into the program. The CM's provide excellent customer service. We don't like to drive on vacation and don't need to thanks to Magical Express and the transportation system. We also don't like the concept of purchasing a week at a specific time of year, nor the in perpuity (lasting for eternity) concept prevelent at other timeshares. For instance, this July, we wanted to go to MGM to play the Millionaire game since it was closing and were able to book a studio at VWL within 12 days of our departure (yes we know we were lucky!). :surfweb:

Personally - for me - I promised myself if I quit smoking (15 yrs @ over 1 pack a day habit.) I'd buy myself something EXTRA special.

Well - I've quit for 2 mos and 9 days. and I bought last week. WOO-HOO!!!!

My savings from not smoking was immediately put into DVC (and then some!)

Couldn't be happier! :smokin:

My wife took my son on a WDW vacation and was not happy with her accomodations. She came back with a 240 contract for SSR. :moped:

That's so funny. :rotfl: Unfortunately, I was drinking and reading at the same time. :surfweb:

Huge smile. :teeth:

Crib notes??? I'm addicted to words.

1) Got money together. Otherwise would have been so much earlier.

2) Forcing us to take vacations without $$$$ to do so being so critical to the equation.

3) Like to hang out on vacation. DVC is great for this....

My brother joined 15 years ago, they are disney nuts. I bought in at SSR for my self and family. I felt it was a good vacation investment for the next 50 years. I have a 12 year old grandson and he should enjoy for a long time with his children if god so wishes. I am 65 years young and live 80 miles from Disney florida, We can enjoy any time.

We travel to Disney every year. We have stayed at all the moderates and were moving up to the deluxes and I had a feeling we wouldn't be moving back down to the moderates.

A friend's relative owns and we visited together when we were both down and I fell in love with the 2 bedroom.

We also wanted very nice accomodations for our family. And of course to own a little piece of the magic.

1. Our youngest turns 5 in December. Finally time for him to keep up with big brother (12) and big sister (9) in the parks.

2. Stayed offsite at 2BR condo with in-laws in 2001 and loved the kitchen for breakfast, the LR to unwind and having the space for 7 without being cramped. Did not like the rental cars expense and parking hassle so SSR will solve that for us.

3. My wife is a teacher so we are limited on vacation times. Can't stay on property during school vacation weeks in a 2BR for less than $1260 except with DVC!

4. We work hard and prefer to play harder!
