Crib Notes Version Please Just Was Wondering What Put You Over The Top And Made Your Decision

Deluxe accomodations at the price of Moderates. Our love for a disney vacation. Family of 6 which means big bucks no matter where you want to go on vacation. Great value.

We knew we'd be taking many trips to WDW in the coming years, and we usually stayed in deluxe resorts, so it made sense for us. WDW is a very special place for my family, and DVC is an investment for us, not a financial one but an emotional one, the promise of many more special times together in the future.

No matter where we go, we prefer to stay in a villa or suite that has a seperate living area. The only affordable way to do that at WDW on a regular basis was to buy in to DVC. It was a simple decision and one we've never regretted.

Three primary reasons:

1. My college-age son wanted it badly enough to promise annual vacations w/me to WDW...since I'd been anticipating him not wanting to vacation w/Mom for too much longer, that was huge--(no, I won't "hold him to it" and yes, I know "life happens" and he might not be able to...but going into each year "planning" on a WDW trip (over T-giving, our family tradition) is a big emotional factor for me...

2. It's prepaid good living space with quite a lot of choice about where...no matter how broke I might be next year, or the year after, or five years from now, I've got "housing" (GOOD housing) at WDW...all I have to do is come up w/transportation (and mostly frequent flier miles will take care of that)...at the DVC villa, I can eat as I would at home if I'm really broke, and I buy APs, so after each year's purchase, park admissions are prepaid, too...so, at my resort and at my level of points, I get all this for about $50/month in dues...

3. I own a (very tiny, miniscule) piece of the magic...that makes me feel good in a way that's contributed to my happiness at having bought into DVC...

I'm planning to buy for the same reasons. We go to WDW often and this is a way to get condo style accomodations for an affordable price. Spending a week or more in a hotel room is A LOT different than a 2bd condo with full kitchen, living room, and laundry. Plus, I've recently discovered how much more fun and less stressful it is to stay "on property" for the trip so this makes that much easier to accomplish as well as less expensive. Just check out what a standard hotel room goes for at the resorts let alone a family suite and you'll see how DVC saves some green in the long run.

3 times in 5 years and expect to go many more since our daughter is 3 and our son (to be born in 7 weeks) will be a "kiddo" soon.

We have ALWAYS stayed at deluxe and therefore it made sense that since my husband LOVES disney and said that is only one of two places he would live (i.e. not Florida but actually on the parks/grounds) we figured we take the dive. I wish we had done this before our last two trips as we could have afforded it then and by the next few subsequent trips it would have paid for itself.

I truly love the atmosphere of Disney and my daughter (we took her in February this year before she turned 3) was just a doll. She wore her Belle Dress to the MK when we had dinner at Cinderella's Castle and I will never forget her face as she just fell in love with the place. She CONSTANTLY is talking about it (so yes they do remember). :cool1:

We go every other year and after spending about $4000.canadian each year we decided it was the right choice. It also allows us to bring family members who otherwise would not get the chance to go!!
WE WOULD LIVE THERE IF GIVEN THE CHANCE TOO!

DH prefers staying in a deluxe resort. We loved YC due to its location (walking distance to Epcot) but I refused to book it at rack rate which caused many anxious waits for AP rates to be released. We were fortunate to sit next to dgaston at a DIS meet. She told us about DVC. We did the math and discovered that by buying points at BWV we could book a stay at an Epcot resort 11 months out for about 1/3 - 2/3 of the usual AP rate at YC (1/3 if we book a studio, 2/3 if we splurge on a 1BR). It has made vacation planning so much easier!

We used to alternate stays between YC and AKL so our only regret when we bought in was giving up our AKL trips. So I'm thrilled to hear AKV should be open by the end of next year!

No questions about it, family of 5, SPACE. We usually have to get the 2 bedroom so also, Kitchen and washer/dryer is a big plus. :wizard:

1) We love and visit Disney once a year.....
2) Always paid big bucks for deluxe on-site accomodations
3) We figure this will help our cost in the future, rooms
4) our kids are young so there are many years to share with them at Disney
5) Wife wants #3 kid.....so bigger rooms will be a neccessity........
6) Most important is watching my kids at the most Magical Place around......
and riding Its a Small World 442 times.....not sure if thats a positive

This is going to sound weird, but I joined DVC for affordable access to Vero Beach and Hilton Head. We always did 10 days at WDW on property in a mod or deluxe - and have been working our way through them all. I  the convenience of staying on Disney property.

Ideally, I realized that my perfect vacation plans would include 1 week at a beach and 2 weeks at WDW - but I sometimes have to travel with the kids by myself to the beach. Last year, I almost booked beach trips twice but then cancelled them because I was not sure about how comfortable I'd be going alone. What I wanted was a chance to have the convenience and trust factor of staying in a Disney resort but near a beach. Since the Disney beach properties are DVC, it made sense to become owners.

They built a DVC at WL. 'Nuff said. :thumbsup2

My reasons:

1) I'm getting a deluxe room (and better) for the price of a moderate.

2) Number of points required per night is not going to increase, while WDW room rates go up every year.

3) It's so flexible, it fits for every vacation situation I could think of. If I go by myself (which I do once a year), I get a studio. If I take friends or my Mom, a 2 bedroom is perfect. If my DBF and I go, we have the choice of a studio or a 1-bedroom. If we take his kids, we can all fit in 2-bedroom.

4) It's also flexible in that I can take several short trips every year, or one long trip of a week or more.

We liked the flexibility. We were already members of "week-at-a-time" version of timeshare ownership and were disappointed with the difficulty in making plans for other than our home resort through RCI. We like Disney - find it very relaxing, and have done Hilton Head in spring and summer, Vero in the spring, Old Key West at all times of the year, Boardwalk in early summer. Sometimes it's two days at a time and sometimes a week. We've always found it very easy to process reservations provided you plan ahead. No one can kid you - there is considerable money involved, but it does make you really think about your vacations. And when you think about vacation - it takes away some of the current stress.

We figured Disney was getting our money every year anyway so we might as we'll own a piece of it. Love the flexibility compared to other timeshares we've seen. Love both DLR and WDW so where could we go wrong!

Mostly because based on my calculations it would allow me to stay in deluxe accomodations (in a studio) for less than stays at the values and mods! And since we were going twice a year (at least) it just made sense.

My wife took my son on a WDW vacation and was not happy with her accomodations. She came back with a 240 contract for SSR. :moped:
