Why did you buy a house in my neighboorhood?

Yes, well actually they should be.
You see for every Christmas you murder you deny that trees purpose on earth to seek and destroy the poisonous gases that the human blight on the planet are intentionally trying to destroy.
The amount of poison not magically removed is equal to the amount needed to kill one kitten. Many people do not know that 'Tannenbaum' correctly translated is ' Little green kitten killer '

And remember that when you do put the kitten killer in the house, if you go as far to put lights on it, the energy needed to produce that also produces enough poison to prevent the cave dwelling albino pygmy snail darter from reproducing to it's full potential.

So go ahead and cut down those trees, you kitten killers, I for one will hope for the magical day when cave dwelling albino pygmy snail darters once again roam the vast plains in thundering herds like they have in the past
.

:rotfl:popcorn:: (Im being good)

Seriously - as far as the Christmas trees, I WOULD be upset if they came into my neighborhood and cut down all the trees around to use as Christmas trees. Same if they did it at my favorite park or outdoor recreational space. A tree farm - not at all.

The whole point is that trees are beautiful and I think most people pick neighborhoods that they feel are attractive. When someone comes in and starts changing what others think is the most beautiful thing about their neighborhood - it's upsetting.

Hmmmm. I guess I should be embarassed that I'm serving albino pygmy snail darters for Christmas dinner, huh? We'll be enjoying them as we gaze at the beautifully lit kitten killer, on my practically treeless property. :)

The house a few down from me just sold and they have moved in. We are a beautiful old neighborhood-- houses from the 70's and 80's--back when they worked around the trees already there to build instead of just clear cutting the land and putting up a bunch of cookie cutter houses like they do now. :sad2:

All I have heard this week and last is the droning of a chain saw and the wood chipper. They are having almost all of the beautiful trees removed. Gorgeous, healthy trees that have stood for hundreds of years. :(

If you didn't want trees on your lot, why did you buy a house in my neighborhood????? Why didn't you go and buy some house in one of the new, tree free neighborhoods that are easy to find around here????

The chain saw is driving me crazy

To bring the thread around full circle, it is sad to see trees that have stood for a hundred of years cut down. It always gets me into a philosophical mood. I think about when the tree was just a tiny seed. Perhaps it was planted right around the turn of the century (1900) That tree would have begun it's life right about the time my grandparents were born. It grew throughout my parent's childhood. It stood as they had children, and even as I had children of my own. It survived through two world wars, the landing on the moon, and even the invention of the Snuggie. Then one day, this giant tree is abruptly cut down, leaving only a stump. The same tree that was enjoyed by so many generations is suddenly gone. There is that connection when you are a child, knowing that you are perhaps climbing the same tree that your grandfather had climbed. Perhaps, your father's initials are carved into it, and his father before him. Now, it's all gone.

I know, I know. I have read "The Giving Tree" one too many times. I apologize for any sappiness(:lmao:get it, tree sap), but I know how the OP feels. It just seems like a travesty to cut down something that has stood for so long.

If someone is worried about someone changing something when a house goes up for sale and is bought, maybe the person should purchase the house themselves so nothing can be changed. If not, can't really do anything about it or the noise. Gotta live with it. Their property, their right to cut the trees down.

Perhaps you can find organically raised, free range , free trade albino pygmy snail darters fed only a wholesome, locally produced gluten free sustainable vegetarian diet? And of course you can offset any environmental impact you have caused by purchasing 'kitten credits' through a cap and trade program.

I LOVE THE DIS!:lmao:

Only here can a headache fueled minor vent turn into an environmental debate among other things.

The drone of the chainsaw (during allowed hours!) is annoying. It has been constant from about 8-4 for about 6 days, not including weekends and an hour or so for lunch. That is annoying. And I already had a headache so that made me even more annoyed and I vented.

I am not angry, I am not going to call and see if they need permits, I am not going to chain myself to any of the remaining trees in their yard, I am not going to refuse to speak to the new neighboors. I am sad to see such beautiful trees go, but in the grand scheme of life it has no impact on me and I will probably not give it another thought (after the job it finished!)

They have every right to do what they want on their property. They can rip out all the grass and concrete the entire yard if they want. They can build a 47 foot tall privacy fence with spikes on top. They can fill their yard with hundreds of party chickens and Christmas lights all year long. And they can run a chainsaw or a jackhammer in the yard during the daytime hours from now until they move out.

I mourn for the trees that have been killed. But I am not going to dress in black and plan a funeral service. But, I am so deeply affected by this that. . .

I am going Christmas shopping!:woohoo:

Now, should a start a thread about the 16 year old boy next year that just got his Driver's license and a car and likes to blast his stereo in the driveway before 7am and after 10pm? :confused3;)

(for the record I have 2 artifical Christmas trees, an artifical wreath and artificial garland. And I am planning to just ask the kid next year to turn it down a bit-- he is a very nice boy and I think he doesn't realize that my windows and walls are shaking! )

I know people that actually did this. He was to lazy to mow the 10x10 plot of land they called their back yard. :lmao:
They had no front yard - the house comes right up to the sidewalk.

I think we're having two different arguments here. No one has said they don't have a right.:confused3 I'm guessing you never care about (or maybe even notice) anything anyone else does?:worship:

Don't understand your point, but whatever....MY POINT is stop complaining about them cutting down the trees and the noise, if you didn't want to hear it or see it, buy the property that the trees are on so you can control what happens to them :confused3

No I don't care about what people that live around me do. I live in the country on 40 acres. I don't see my neighbors or have them right next to me in my view. If I did, sorry for me, nothing I can do, its their property.

Hahahahaaa, not in my area.
In some towns you can not change the color of your house, without approval from the "appearance commission"!!!

Mikeeee

when we bought our land we took down at least 10 pine trees, left all the oaks and some of our neighbors HATED it! We moved from the city to the area so the kids would have a nice big yard to play in safely so I really didnt care what they thought. We have a nice yard so we can go outside and play ball and things like that , we did not move there for the trees. We have had no less then 4 houses get trees dropped on them from storms, 1 house 2 x!

Ah, I get it now. It would be easy to think you'd never be bothered by your neighbors when you don't have neighbors.

Exactly what I was thinking. I think it's only human to notice what goes on around you and to vent at times. We all have things that push our buttons.

Yes! If I bought a house in a neighborhood because I loved all the big old trees in it of course I'm going to be sad when someone moves in and cuts them down. I'm not denying their right to do so, but it doesn't make how I would feel wrong.

I don't understand why you are questioning my posts? Did you read the op post? What don't you understand? My last few posts on this thread directly responds to the first post from the op.:confused3

I have had plenty of neighbors in my adult life, their property, their right. Just like its my right on my lot or 40 acres. Don't get your points:confused3

Exactly, and many people voice their opposing opinions don't they?:confused3

I think that the thing is that some of your posts have come off as very dismissive and not accepting of other's opinions. For example, a few posts above, you told someone to get over it and buy the property next to them if they had a problem, and to stop complaining. That's not really voicing an oppinion. That's just being a little rude. I'm not saying that you meant it to come out that way, but to others, that's how it appears. Nobody is saying the neighbors don't have a right. It's their property. Posters are just saying that it is sad and it's a shame that beautiful trees are being cut down. An opposing opinion would be to state that it doesn't bother you. But telling someone to get over it and stop complaining is not an opinion.

I am posting in the same exact tone as what is posted to me. Take a look at recent threads! Wow, so people come out and don't like how blunt and not accepting of opinions and dismissive I have been. :scared1: That is ALL I HAVE GOTTEN FROM SOME OF THESE PEOPLE. Take a look. Im just giving what I got. You treat someone how you want to be treated right...well, just returning it!
