Why did you buy a house in my neighboorhood?

I think that the thing is that some of your posts have come off as very dismissive and not accepting of other's opinions. For example, a few posts above, you told someone to get over it and buy the property next to them if they had a problem, and to stop complaining. That's not really voicing an oppinion. That's just being a little rude. I'm not saying that you meant it to come out that way, but to others, that's how it appears. Nobody is saying the neighbors don't have a right. It's their property. Posters are just saying that it is sad and it's a shame that beautiful trees are being cut down. An opposing opinion would be to state that it doesn't bother you. But telling someone to get over it and stop complaining is not an opinion.

That is exactly how I have always been up until I have had it with the way I have been treated, dismissively and people aren't accepting of my opinion. I have heard this from others too.

This thread has nothing to do about me, Im not going to get into it with anyone, so stop trying..not you Wall-E1...others who have challanged me in other threads. My opinion is always wrong and I get pounced on, sick of it.

I'm not saying your opinions are wrong. Opinions can't be right or wrong. That's why they are called opinions and not facts. I didn't realize that you felt like you were being attacked on other threads. I get attacked all the time because of my opinions on the Disboards. I love it, because I enjoy a good debate. I had merely scanned up to the top of the current page. I did not go back and read all of the interactions you have had throughout this thread or others. Looking back at them now, some were amusing comments, some were opinions, etc. I was just referring to that one post. So, don't take it the wrong way. And don't let any haters on other threads get to you. They are just trying to get a rise out of you. Remember - Everything is going to be just fine... :rainbow:Just fine...:rainbow:Just fine...:rainbow:

I love you!:lmao::hug: Can you follow me around on here? My wingman so to speak?? Pretty please with sugar on top:wizard:

Don't understand your point, but whatever....MY POINT is stop complaining about them cutting down the trees and the noise, if you didn't want to hear it or see it, buy the property that the trees are on so you can control what happens to them :confused3

No I don't care about what people that live around me do. I live in the country on 40 acres. I don't see my neighbors or have them right next to me in my view. If I did, sorry for me, nothing I can do, its their property.

Oh come on, Clovergirl!! Wouldn't you be upset if the person that took the 40 acres next to y'all built a racetrack on it? What if they built The Bunny Ranch? It could be turned into a mini trailer park specifically built for processing meth. What if it was a puppy mill... for pit bulls? lol I could think of a lot of things I wouldn't want even as close as 40 acres to me.

That would be a fun thread. What things would you hate if they moved in next to you?

I LOVE THE DIS!:lmao:

Now, should a start a thread about the 16 year old boy next year that just got his Driver's license and a car and likes to blast his stereo in the driveway before 7am and after 10pm? :confused3;)

I'd take a chainsaw to him. :lmao:

I don't think she's going to give on this one. She will say nothing would bother her or she would have bought the 40 acres next to her as well. Either that or she won't get your point?:confused3

The house a few down from me just sold and they have moved in. We are a beautiful old neighborhood-- houses from the 70's and 80's--back when they worked around the trees already there to build instead of just clear cutting the land and putting up a bunch of cookie cutter houses like they do now. :sad2:

All I have heard this week and last is the droning of a chain saw and the wood chipper. They are having almost all of the beautiful trees removed. Gorgeous, healthy trees that have stood for hundreds of years. :(

If you didn't want trees on your lot, why did you buy a house in my neighborhood????? Why didn't you go and buy some house in one of the new, tree free neighborhoods that are easy to find around here????

The chain saw is driving me crazy

I LOVE THE DIS!:lmao:

Only here can a headache fueled minor vent turn into an environmental debate among other things.

The drone of the chainsaw (during allowed hours!) is annoying. It has been constant from about 8-4 for about 6 days, not including weekends and an hour or so for lunch. That is annoying. And I already had a headache so that made me even more annoyed and I vented.

I am not angry, I am not going to call and see if they need permits, I am not going to chain myself to any of the remaining trees in their yard, I am not going to refuse to speak to the new neighboors. I am sad to see such beautiful trees go, but in the grand scheme of life it has no impact on me and I will probably not give it another thought (after the job it finished!)

They have every right to do what they want on their property. They can rip out all the grass and concrete the entire yard if they want. They can build a 47 foot tall privacy fence with spikes on top. They can fill their yard with hundreds of party chickens and Christmas lights all year long. And they can run a chainsaw or a jackhammer in the yard during the daytime hours from now until they move out.

I mourn for the trees that have been killed. But I am not going to dress in black and plan a funeral service. But, I am so deeply affected by this that. . .

I am going Christmas shopping!:woohoo:

(for the record I have 2 artifical Christmas trees, an artifical wreath and artificial garland. And I am planning to just ask the kid next year to turn it down a bit-- he is a very nice boy and I think he doesn't realize that my windows and walls are shaking! )

if you don't like it where you live move to an HOA community. When DH bought our house (before me) there was nothing but grass.....and more grass, when I moved in, there was a huge palm, several ficus trees, etc, that he had planted. We, well he, chopped and sawed and cut them down...and could care less what the neighbors think. We put in a pool where those lovely trees were.

It's funny, you buy, pay and care for your property and now you are supposed to worry what your neighbors think and funny you question WHY they moved to your neighborhood? Hope the corner store is close.

Good grief, people get so defensive. I always feel a little sad when I see a beautiful tree being cut down. I'm in no way saying that people don't have the right to do so however.

I like trees and I hate to see them destroyed. My thoughts go no further than that. (Unless it's a government entity doing this and then I might have some say-so at some point.)

Call around, you might be suprised, depending on where you live.
First, and most important, find out what kind of trees you are talking about.
Many, many people have been hoodwinked into paying someone to remove a black walnut or cherry tree that the tree company makes a huge profit on at the lumber mill.
Also, if you happen to be in the great white north, call some firewood places rather than tree services first. You will get a much cheaper rate if it's valuable firewood.

They are icky hackberry trees in Central Illinois.

Sometimes trees are not all they are cracked up to be. The people who owned our home previous to us planted two maple trees many years ago. They were planted too close to the house and the driveway to ensure space that they needed to grow. The root systems are totally tearing up my yard and driveway, and I am concerned about them doing damage to our foundation. Next spring, both are coming down...at an incredible expense because they are HUGE.

We have taken down 8 trees, 6 very large pin oaks and 2 maples and this is mostly why, 2 of the pin oaks were diseased and were taken down later. We have a huge maple tree next to our home and dh wants it gone because it is too close to our house and over time will ruin the brand new roof we put on a few years ago and ruin our very large deck.

I have no problem with people coming into an established neighborhood and changing things on their own property, they have the right to make it they way they want, just like I'm sure all the existing neighbors have done to their own.
