Why complain or be concerned about a resort that's too spread out

I must be in the minority because OKW and Kidani are my favorites out of all the resorts I’ve stayed at. I don’t mind the multiple bus stops at OKW at all and walking from South Point area to the HH is no worse than walking from Poly’s Moorea to the CH. Now I do dislike having to walk to the HH if it’s raining but having the bus stops so close to the building makes it not so bad.

True, but high-rise towers hit differently for me than the detached condos do, just by virtue of guest density.

For me, it's the multiple bus stops. It just adds so much transit time. I love Fort Wilderness and Old Key West just about as much as anywhere else, but I wouldn't stay at either one without a car.

That's my issue too. I even lump in non DVC resorts such as Port Orleans Riverside to that as well. When I stayed there, I had a car and only used the busses to get to MK. Those additional stops wasted so much time. I'll take the long walk in the AKL hallways over the 4-5 stops.

I mean sure, they are all good size resorts, but OKW and SSR are more like small neighborhoods of condos vs a hotel. That's a whole other level of "spread out" even compared to AKL or BWV. Doesn't make them good or bad, just different.

Me, too, although it's more the visual and sensory impact of being way up in the air. (Yes, I'm freaky about heights.)

Something like BLT or RIV feels more hotelish to me than the resorts with lots of buildings not high-rise.

I recently did a stay at AKL (Kidani) and my room couldn't have been further from the lobby - as in it was at the very end of the hallway. It was a HIKE to the lobby and back. Everyone in my group were young adults but it wasn't fun to have to walk that distance every time we left our room especially after a long, hot day in the parks. I can only imagine how it's like for people with mobility issues and families with small kids.

Like you, my room was way at the end of the hallway. One day, for the heck of it, I counted the # of steps I took to get to the lobby. The following day I transferred to BCV and counted out the same number of steps to see where I'd end up. I tried to make sure that my steps were the same at both resorts. When I took the same # of steps at BCV that I had at Kidami, which had gotten me to the lobby there, I found that I was inside Epcot's International Gateway.
