I don't think for one second that race,money or cute kids come into play at all.

Susan Smith, not a pretty person at all in my opinion, She wasn't well off.
Andrea Yates once again not a pretty women in my opinon she was well off.

It all about what sells on TV sadly enough, if the story is crazy enough like Casey is. People will buy it hook line and sinker. The more outlandish the better

And apparently stories/cases about white, middle-class individuals & families is what sells the most. The fact that this case is so outlandish makes it even more sellable, from a media standpoint.

I found an article it says that only like 20% of kids that are kidnapped are black, which leads me to believe that most are white so maybe that explains why we hear about white kids so much.

In my area, when a child (like you said, no matter what ethinicity) is killed it is reported on local news, but not nationally. I thought we were talking about national coverage.

Unfortunately most missing children turn out to be homicides as well.

I can't think of a single case. Not one.

That's what I was thinking. I honestly cannot recall a case involving a minority child, that received as much media and public attention.

The challenge is not finding a case involving a minority child that's received similar coverage; it's about finding ANY case that has the elements of this case, regardless of race or class or status. I think any case that had these elements would garner the same coverage.

"These same elements" would be a toddler who disappears for a month, with a mother who goes about her normal everyday live without seeming to have any concerns.

HappyGirl brought up the "selling of the story", I was responding to that.

Yes, the topic in and of itself should be enough to draw public outrage, but as we know, the media is going to go after whatever story brings in the most views and money. And the media DID and CONTINUES to bring this story front center.
