Why can't they get a CLUE???

Hi guys. I was frustrated when I called Disney for PS's today. My hubby's birthday is July 26th and we'll be in Orlando. It's 90 days from today! So I called to make a Priority Seating for dinner at Sci-Fi at MGM, as it looks so much fun. I was aggravated when I hit the same problem I have hit before... Even though it's time to reserve the meals, the park hours have not been set. The restaurant times are evidently based on the park hours... so the place can only accept seatings for dinner until 5:55 PM! Now you KNOW that in the summer with long hours and late closings, of COURSE that restaurant will stay open later. But here I was calling on the very first day and getting the blow-off. WHY can't they get their act together and decide the park hours right at 90-days? Now I have to call over and over again, with no clue about when they will decide that the restaurant can accept LATER PS's! How are we obsessive WDW-planners supposed to plan?

Does anybody have any idea why dilemma exists? I believe they have started to base park hours on attendance, but do they really think the park will close at 7pm in late July? Further, why not let people make the PS with the warning that "the restaurant might close earlier?" That would at least give me a shot at the later mealtime. I was so mad I double-booked, making a lunch reservation as well, because 6pm probably won't work for us. Has anyone else dealt with this problem?

We really don't know why they do this, but you are far from alone. Many of us complain often about this situation. Usually the later dining times open up somewhere between 30 days and 3 weeks from the date you want to dine there. This has been happening for a couple of years now, and it's pretty consistent that the later times will open up then. I know it's a pain, but we just work around it.

I'm having the same problem. We are leaving at the end of May for our trip and right now the latest PS we could get for Sci Fi was 4:30. ( a little early for dinner). The VERY VERY nice CM told me to book this time then call back during the first week of May (when they release the May park hours) to change it to a later time. That is what I plan to do. So I guess you will be able to get later seating at the beginning of July. It is frustrating , I know. At least the CM's are nice and very helpful. Have a great trip!

I've heard of people getting later PS times for May and June... I would maybe try to call again now

You might want to call and check now - I was able to get a 7 pm PS for Brown Derby on May22 and a 7:30 for LTT May 25.

I have had just the opposite luck . When i called at the 90 day mark I made all of our Dinner ps's for 7 or 730 and had no problem

Were they for restaurants in MGM or MK? I can't get anything later than 4:50 or 5:55 for restaurants in these two parks.

As far as I can tell right now you *should* be able to book until the end of June for the later hours now.

Were they for restaurants in MGM or MK? I can't get anything later than 4:50 or 5:55 for restaurants in these two parks.

1 was for CRT and teh other was for NORWay. The others were for resort restauraunts

Well! I learned someting new today!

When I was making PS's for our trip in January it seemed like a lot of the times for park restaurants were really early, especially at MGM! Now I see there is a possible alternative. Thanks!!

I am sure when I start calling in July for October PS's they will tell me I have to eat dinner at 4:30 PM. But I will know better this time! HA!
