Why can't I book 9/22-10/5?

I am very confused. I can't book standard rooms at most of the hotels of I put my dates as 9/22-10/5. They shown sold out almost everywhere except for the very expensive rooms. Examples are no little mirmaid rooms, no standards at CBR, no standards at Beach Club, no standards at Animal Kingdom... But if I break it into 2 reservations 9/22-9/29 and then 9/29-10/5, then all the availability is there and I can book any of the lesser expensive rooms.

So why are they not showing up for the one longer reservation times?

I'm looking at nearly the same time frame. Very little availability on WDW website, but much more on travel websites like Priceline.

It might have something to do with people booking in anticipation of free dining being released. Recently free dining was not available for after the first of October but if your check in date started before then and the deal was offered you would get it for your entire stay, hence being able to get it the first part of October. Although, people pre booking probably actually decreases the likelihood of free dining offered for that late in Sept because there is no need for disney to fill rooms. That would be my guess, though. Although I'm not sure why you could break it up into 2 separate ressies and see availability

A lot of the schools in the North East have fall break then. It is Rosh Hashanna and Yom Kippur so they sometimes just give the whole week off. Not may people actually celebrate it so the non-Jews (and even some of us Jews) use it as a vacation week.

Yup! And with Rosh Hashanna falling on Thursday the 21st this year I'm sure my school system isn't the only one to cancel classes on Friday the 22nd as well. We're taking off on Monday the 25th and making a long weekend of it. Airfare and hotels are much cheaper in Sept than in summer!

OP is not asking why it's busy during those dates. They are asking the reasoning behind being able to book a lower tiered room under 2 separate reservations, one for 9-22 through 9-29 and a second from 9-29 through 10-5 but is unable to book a single reservation covering those exact same dates.

My guess is there is just enough overlap with people in the various less expensive rooms that no one less expensive resort or room is available for the entire time.

With Rosh Hashanah being two days, it's not that they are just "canceling classes on Friday" but that they are out for the entire holiday.

I was seriously pondering a cruise on the Dream over that weekend, but then I realized I'd have to physically call in Monday and from sea...no go.

OP - I haven't done this myself but have read similar experiences/questions as yours around here from time to time. It has something to do with your very long length of stay and Disney's booking methodology - something about the way they have it programmed internally doesn't always work well with longer stays.

You might still get the same results but I'd recommend calling and walking through exactly what you're trying to book. If needed, ask for a manager.

Good luck, let us know what you find out!

That is due to demand so why it would busy would answer. They length of your stay opens up different rooms due to availability and the computer program so yes it is possible for a room to be available for what is eventually a split stay but not if you booked it as a week.

The first week of October is Gartner, although that will primarily impact Standard Rooms at the deluxe resorts.
