Why can't carriages be stored under the bus?

If someone trips over, or is otherwise injured by, a stroller on a bus, the injured party will sue Disney not the person who brought the stroller on. Why? Always sue the deep pocket!

It is naive to say that the person who brought the stroller on is responsible if someone is injured by it. Although that may be true, since it is Disney's policy that strollers are to be loaded into the passenger areas of buses, it is Disney who will be sued if someone is injured.

It does not matter that the person with the stroller could have driven or, indeed, could have been more careful.

What matters is that Disney requires that any strollers of persons riding on the bus be hauled onto a bus and held -- unrestrained -- in the passenger area of said bus. That is the way the law works.

Just sayin'

The bad thing is if what you are saying is true, then Disney should just ban strollers from being on the bus. However they are not about to go out and get all new busses, so that would mean if you want to ride the bus you leave your stroller behind. How many people would that make happy?

Can we get over it!! Carrying the strollers on the bus saves time. Even discussing these insane lawsuits for stubbing a toe on a stroller or being bumped by dad carrying one is NUTS:confused: Is it not crazy enough people sue for melted cheese that turns out to actually be hot. Come on people, if it's so bad on the bus rent a car, or better yet stay home.

Just another reason why I rent a car.

There are tons of kids at WDW and many of their parents carry strollers. I expect it and would not complain/sue if one bumped into me on a bus. Having a car prevents me from having to deal with it all together.

OMG!! I just read this entire thread and FINALLY got to this!!!! :worship:

Don't ask me why I didn't stop reading. I am not sure why. But what I am sure of is I will never get that 10 minutes of my life back!

Why is it the person who possesses the strollers fault if someone is negligent in watching where they are going? The person who tripped also could have driven. Why is the blame being placed on the stroller and not anyone else?

Because if you're lugging a stroller and have children you MUST be at fault. You know, like when you're pushing a stroller through the park, a person cuts a path in front of you and you accidentally bump them. All the stroller people's fault. ;)

Agree with the PP about public transportation. Ride at your own risk. If you don't like it, drive your own car.

Simple, some people (like me) have disabilities - Mine are from 4 strokes and some cancer. Some times, I have all I do to keep up without falling. PLEASE do NOT make the bus a obstacle course. It is hard enough being disabled without adding rolling obstacles. Or would you rather that I just bring a scooter and take up 2 other seats?

If for your own health and safety you need to use a scooter, then please do so! Because even without strollers the bus will be an obstacle course, with so many people standing.

Actually, yes I would. I'm not biased against disabled people using scooters, especially when it comes to safety issues. I need a stroller for my children. They don't make the buses anymore crowded than people do because if my stroller wasn't occupying that space a person would be.

Why are the people with disabilities threatening the people who need strollers. If you need a scooter by all means get one. Strollers may be needed for children and scooters may be may needed for disabilities. It make the bus ride a little more crowded, but we both find them very handy in the parks.
:idea:Why don't we see if disney could have separate buses with labels for all:
1. parents with children and strollers
2. disabled on scooters
3. adults who don't want to ride with scooters or strollers
then maybe we could add:
4. parents with whining children
5. adults who drank to much at the world showcase
6. teens who cuss

If we separate all the people who give the bus complainers so much grief, maybe they would be happy!

Oh, I'm going to ride on the bus that's labeled fastest way back to resort without complaint.:rolleyes1

This is one of those things that you think would be nice until you realize (or smart disboarders point it out ;)) that it would only trade one problem for another.

I do have to say, if I was a stroller parent, I'd bring a small umbrella type one (unless I had a very young baby who needed a stroller that can fold down so the baby can lay down). Those big huge ones look nice and probably cost more than my first car did, but I can't imagine lugging one up the steps and I'd be worried somebody would steal it when I parked it.

Its public transportation. Which means you have to share with other people and their bodies, kids, stuff, odor, ECCV's/Wheelchairs and anything else associated with those other people.

BINGO!!!!:laughing::laughing::laughing:

As stated above, there's no luggage hold.

I think I'd prefer that they get double decker buses than a storage area.

The buses from Park > Resort are transit style buses, with no cargo hold. They're designed to be used in an urban environment, where for the most part, people aren't travelling with luggage. (Now, the DME buses (which actually are operated by Mears under contract to Disney), are "coach style" buses. They have a cargo area, and are much more well suited to longer rides, including sometimes cross country (See also: Greyhound))

As for the double decker buses, that won't happen simply because some of the areas they'd be expected to go wouldn't be accessible to a bus of that height. For example, any bus travelling to the Contemporary has to go under a "water bridge" on World Drive, between the Wilderness Lodge and the Contemporary. This bridge goes under the channel between Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon. Because the water is above the bridge, there is no way the bridge could be raised, because that would effectively defeat the purpose of having the water bridge.

How about we get rid of all these pesky children at WDW. It really does cause a LOT of inconvenience having all of these children and their strollers around.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner. Just think of how short the lines would be to meet characters, go on rides, get made up at BBB. I say we petition WDW.;)

no just eliminate those with strollers for those 10 year 150 pound kids riding in them:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Well, It could drop you at the Transportation center - Just have a few double deckers, not a complete fleet replacement.

Also there is a road that goes behind Magic Kingdom towards the Grand Floridian so the buses can go that way.

Though I think it is highly unlikely that they add a double decker, it would be neat to ride one.

Since the double decker has an open top, just tell everyone to duck at the bridge. :rotfl:

[edit] I may be a bit of a sadist but getting smacked, jostled and squashed on the bus adds to the experience.

IF they were able to store strollers under the bus could you just imagine the complaints then:
The bus takes sooooooo long!
Why do so many people have to take a stroller!
Isn't that kid too big to be in a stroller anyway?
Why do we have to wait for the strollers to be loaded into the bus?
etc, etc, etc.
There is NO WAY Disney or anybody else can make all of the people happy All of the timed!
