Why are people so litigious?

:lmao: This will be helpful information for my DD. She trips UP the stairs all the time and well...those invisible things are constantly tripping her up. We don't even bother to ask how she manages to do 1/2 the things she does anymore. We just look and go say "only you could manage to do xyz"! The funny thing is she was a gymnast & wasn't clumsy at all for that but every day walking seems to give her grief. ;)

Do you think I could have sued the time I was walking on the March of Dimes walk, wasn't watching where I was going and ran smack dab into a speed limit sign with my head, which I'm sure that was cause for some emotional distress or something. Hmmm...maybe that explains why I'm a ditz at times (nah...that only happened after having kids. Can I sue them for my brain cells back?).

Poor baby, I know all about tripping up stairs, and for years I had the bruised shins to prove it.

Heffalumps, Woozles and disappearing plaintiffs. I'm sure they exist but lord knows I've never seen any... :rotfl2:

Oh, I'm not saying they all disappear, but sometimes I'm sure the pltf atty says to himself "this is not worth my time", especially if the plaintiff has a history of filings. I work for a large retailer, and complaints are filed but, if the claim is questionable, we often don't hear back from atty's OR the plaintiffs simply disappear and claims are dropped.

Why are people so litigious?
Because they've been taught and conditioned all their lives to believe that nothing is their fault. Therefore when something goes wrong or an accident happens, they believe it's their birthright to be compensated because, after all, it wasn't their fault.

Bottom line.

It boggles my mind at how quick some people are to sue. And to tell people to sue!! My DH got bit by a dog at work, the dog bit him in the thigh and he managed to get away but the dog kept cming at him. The dog was shot:sad1: Do yu know how many people told him to sue? Luckily, he was ok after a few stiches, shots and antibiotics and all the bills were covered by his job s what would he sue for?? The poor womans dog was killed and now he was going to turn around and add to her distress? No way. Now, if there had been unresolved medical bills or loss of income or something, that's a different story.

Haha, I could tell you a few stories!! We once had a suit filed against us; without getting into too many details, the pltf said the store manager accused her of shoplifting and called the police. Also made some allegations of racial descrimination. After investigation, there was never any accusation on our part because pltf was never even in our store on that day, police were never called, etc. Once pltf attorney confronted her with this, she disappeared. What a huge waste of money.
