Good Evening Fellow Disney Folk! pirate: DH and I are considering to plan our first family Land and Sea cruise for this October. Last minute I know :guilty: ! But we were curious to know what veteran cruisers have experienced in the past with little ones, late dinner, possible hurricane weather and child care for those under 3 years.... :wizard:

We are hoping to take a cruise this fall before we make another addition to our family... :love2: DS#1 will be 7 in April '06 and DS#2 iwill be 3 in Feb '06. We want to get one last hoora :cheer2: befor a little one comes along and we 're home bound for a year or so. All we are able to get for a seating time with this short notice is an 8:30 dinner. Will we be shooting oursleves in the foot with that late of a time? With the current weather system in Florida and last years Hurrican season, DH is terrified we will also get that kind of weather! We are no strangers to Walt Disney World, but neither of us have ever been on a cruise - be it Disney or otherwise! I look forward to the replies :listen: and Thanks in advance!

THe absolute best time to cruise with an "almost 3" is within 30 days of the 3rd birthday. If the child is potty trained, they can participate in the programming, and you only pay the taxes on their cruise.

OK, 8:30 dinner with a little person--generally not a problem. If it is, you have other options. Feed him early at the buffet....or get an afternoon snack. You didn't say where you live. If you are not in the Eastern time zone, the late dinner may actually help keep him on something more like your home schedule.

Finally, ask to be wait listed for the early dinner. Then, after you board (if you still have late seating), go to "dining changes" and ask to be moved. DCL will do as much as they can to accomadate you.

We've done 5 September cruises. Only 2004 was impacted by the hurricanes. Think travel insurance....but don't worry. DCL will put safety and comfort first, and you will have a good cruise.

For the under 3--kiddo can play in the Oceaneer's Club with an adult present. Schedule at least one Flounder's session so you will have some adult time! Have fun!!!!!

I would suggest taking a stroller with you or getting one on the ship. If they fall asleep you can just put them in the stroller & roll them into the dining room to sleep while you enjoy dinner.
