Why am I not able to start Conversations PMs?

I have been in the boards for a long time but I right now I am not able to receive or send PMs. I have been absent for a while, but I am a GOLD member. Is this a technical issue?

Is it possible your account settings are set to "Nobody" for conversations? As you can see below, mine is set to "Members Only" - the other options are People You Follow or Nobody.
